  2. Good Day Gals & Gents, I hope that all of you are well and gettin to get out and hit the ball through this "unique" season ? I found this article actually fairly accurate as we were sittin around the table talking about this very subject a few weeks ago. #1 & 3 were exactly what I said though #3 was my first choice and for me it was a two-part answer as not only don't mid/high cappers not know their miss, they do not have a "go to" shot that when the air is thin, their breathing short and erratic, and their nerves are a swing away from fracturing, they can "

  3. For us, ready golf means, skip the honors on the tee, don't fret over who's away by a foot on the greens and keep moving. No wonder our average round time is 3:15

  4. Initial thoughts (literally 2 driver swings): Launch is higher than GP, similar to IZ for me. Ballflight was mid/high but flat and it was very easy to square up. Feel smooth and lively, more active than GP at impact and less vibration than IZ. More to come as I can get more swings with it.

  5. What? Honors on the tee clearly is clearly not ready golf. Whoever is ready always plays first unless its a competition (in which case you’d never be agreeing to play ready golf). And as some others posted, I think the more concise way to say what I was trying to say: Being “ready” to play when it’s your turn is simply GOLF. That’s how it’s ALWAYS supposed to be, that’s not really “ready golf”. Ready golf means you are all agreeing that you will potentially play out of turn when it makes sense for the pace of play.

  6. When we play ready golf we ignore who's away and each player plays their shot when they are ready. We do not move ahead where we would interfere with someone else's shot or possibly catch one in the head.

  8. Yikes... DJ may be in trouble afterall: "Rule 827.11b of the PGA Tour: If a player tantalizes viewers with shooting an historically round of 55 or better through the first 11 holes, but fails to deliver in the end, said player may be kicked off the PGA Tour forever."

  17. Ionomer is a generic word for a category of thermoplastics. Surlyn is the trademarked name of one specific thermoplastic that has long been used for golf ball covers. A lot of people say "Surlyn" about balls that aren't strictly, legally, made of DuPont Surlyn brand ionomer. Kind of like we say "Kleenex" to mean any sort of tissue, not just the Kleenex brand ones made by Kimberly-Clark.

  18. Ha, it's forecast to only be in the 80s here for the next 10 days and more. I guess we must have turned on the fans and sent the hotter temps up your way. Sorry about that.........well maybe?

  19. Another fantastic day. Cloudy, which made these old tired eyes bad followers of the ball ! A rather boring 47 today. But, at least i am not totally lost ! Enjoy the last few days before the summer heat returns. Forecast for all next week is above 93, every day...

  21. Whether Lydia wins; she did look like the best of herself! "With Sean, we haven't done a lot in the technical sense. We are trying to get rid of the question marks in my head so I can swing freely. Sean has told me to dig a hole and throw all my crap in there. A big thing for me has just been able to believe in myself again." Ko has long pledged to retire from the sport by 30 and wonders if she will stick to that vow. But now, she believes that decision will not be dependent on what happens in the meantime. "I don't know where my career is going to go," she said. "At one

  25. Is there anybody out there? I guess you guys are occupied with golf. I don't have anything to report on that front other than yesterday was one of the busiest days I can recall at the course this year. I remember thinking that I wanted to take a break as I hadn't stopped moving since 7 am and looked at my watch to see that it was 12:02! It wasn't a madhouse, just steady. No hold-ups or problems, we even managed to stay on time! I'm pretty sure that we're ahead of last year in terms of rounds played even though we lost 6 weeks at the start of the year. I know that p

  28. Lydia is continuing her good form, she has a great shot at this. Minjee and Nelly are also in prime position to pick up a Major, poor Amy that's a tough one. I'd be worried about Inbee though, she's gonna let the youngsters stress out with lead for the next day and a half then pass the by on the back 9, Sunday.

  32. Recently started playing again since start of the pandemic and was able to play Pilgrim Oaks Golf Course in Peach Bottom, PA. Great course and was really impressed with their course considering the price point. It can be walked but beware there are many hills that will definitely cause soreness in the glutes. If anyone is in Baltimore and would like to play I would be more than happy to play a round.

  33. Just means that you're ready to hit your shot when it is your turn. You've already lasered your shot, picked your club, and ready to go while others are hitting their shots. Honors off the tee don't really matter (and shouldn't) so the wait time is less. Sounds like the old guy played as a single and you were along for the ride. Doesn't sound like a super enjoyable round.

  34. Good article. My added one is high handicappers make the mistake of playing too much club (ie 3 wood, 5 wood, etc) out of the rough with a less than ideal lie. About 40% of the time, they top it.

  35. Oh darn who is going to stoke the egos of all the guys with crap swings who spin their driver 4000 rpm and think they need rebar to have a normal ball flight who is going to hype new shafts that are 99.99% similar to shafts currently on the market

  42. Ionomer is basically surlyn by another name. The best surlyn covered balls can come close in spin to the lower spinning urethane balls IIRC. It's been a while but Golf or GD did a test and the Nike Ignite (I said its been a while!) had the highest spin of all the surlyn balls tested and its wedge spin was within a couple hundred rpm's of the lowest spinning urethane ball tested (forget which one it was).

  47. The "competitive landscape" is a cultural thing, the handicap system might influence behavior slightly but at the majority of USA golf clubs the culture is not centered around weekly comps and (as far as I can tell) never has been. At the USA clubs with which I'm familiar daily games are organized by groups of golfers who want to play together. There's all sort of formats for individual and/or partner and/or team play (sometimes all going on within the same round) but what you almost never see is full-field medal or Stableford comps taking place on more than a very occasional basi
