  1. I've gotten all manner of boxes/shafts from various sellers and that doesnt look bad at all. I've had boxes with only 1 shaft in them basically leaning over 20 degrees and flimsy - and the shaft was in tact (probably holding the box up). I've also had boxes with snapped shafts inside that didnt have any markings, and boxes that looked like it was LITERALLY ran over by a plane tire (thanks UPS) and it was also very crushed/broken. YMMV

  2. This would be my first full review on the forum. I have made a couple post here and there. However, I thought I would give my try at writing a full review. Recently I bought a new set of Sub70 Irons. Here are my previous comments in the official SUB70 thread: Now for the full review. As with much excitement I received my SUB70 irons in a very neat and clean box. My personal opinion is that I really like the simple color scheme of the Sub70 box - Black and White. Normally these orders take about 5 - 7 days once

  4. I don't put much weight in anything the S*G*M guys do....but I'm skeptical by nature, especially of grandiose conclusions(they ALWAYS make) of any small "test(s)" they perform. The two big issues with the QSTARTour as reported: 1. "Roundness" 2. Concentricity Regarding #1, S*G*M fails to tell the reader what the "generous" standard used for roundness is and how they derived that standard. For example, what if the standard is no more than +/-0.0050" measured at the seam vs. the pole of any golf ball. What if 36 percent of the QST's were 0.0051"...that eq

  6. Agreed. I was thinking last night that I sure know how to throw cold water on things. Rain all day up here in the peninsula. I even got off early as we had a grand total of 7 customers between opening and 10:30 am. I have a tee time booked with my son for Saturday am at another course. Hopefully the weather will be decent. It has been three years since I played with him.

  7. Wait...that's bad box damage? I've had some that were ripped, partially torn, or had tire marks on the box and somehow the shaft survived intact. That looks like normal wear/creases on a box. Judging from that creasing on the box, I wouldnt think the driver head would fail like shown in the pic on the first page. If this case was a shaft snapping anywhere near the midpoint, then the buyer would have justification in saying something. The only possible way I see anything happening is seller helps buyer file a claim with Cobra.

  11. I really don’t get why people are thinking an 8-10 week wait with the world as it is is a reason to not buy from TM and choose another brand...the irons are ‘that good’ so what’s the point in not waiting...you’re not likely to get irons that much quicker elsewhere! TM aren’t the only ones with stock issues right now...go in ANY golf retailer here in the UK and the shelves are empty for most clubs... Titleist are OOS of ALL Scotty Cameron putters and SM8 wedges until Jan 2021, Cobra have run out of Speedzone Irons with loads of unfulfilled orders, Callaway are quoting 4 weeks for cu

  12. I had a college teammate that was recruited by the new coach. Problem was the teammate had signed up for this recruiting service that would make a weekend hack look like the next coming of Tiger Woods and the new coach fell for it and recruited him anyway. All of the guys that were recruited in that class were part of the recruiting service and none of them could break 80 (some couldn't break 85). All of them lost their scholarship except for this guy. After Xmas break he came back and started shooting 72-75. Then a month later he was routinely breaking par and by the end of

Seeing as our Small Team brethren are in COMPLETE disarray (one of them wanted to know who his teammates were a couple of hours ago, even though there have been no less than 12 direct emails on that subject). We, the Tall Team, being our magnanimous, kind and generous selves, went ahead and made this year's logo, saving you all a bunch of time. You're welcome, Smalls.

  15. Today I read through this thread from the beginning as a look back on my spring / summer. A couple things stood out....First, I thought that the Covid Social Distancing would only be a month or so.....well...today marks month 7 of working from home with no immediate end in view! (remember way back when we were just going to have everyone stay home for 2 weeks and be done with it.....?). Second, I was incredibly optimistic in my view about how this was going to go and this is good because it led to the success, but man....this was a lot to pull off and looking at timeline in the spring, I sur

  18. Played 18 with the 3 piece v2.0 today. The cover feels different that the og, I thought that it felt more like what a “better” named ball would feel. Distance off my drives were better that with the og 3 piece. I never felt that the old ball gave me my full distance that I was getting from the original 4 piece, or say a pro v1. The 2.0 was getting out there where my best drives would be with the balls I know give me my best distances. I never had a problem with iron shots on the og 3 piece, and the 2.0 preformed just as well. I spin the ball a lot on short pitches and chips, an

I normally don't have the patience for people like you but I am trying to control my passion for this subject as best I can and not get too defenses or condescending in here. I assure you, I am no troll. If I antagonize you, it is not from intent. I disagree with you, and that is ok. I don't see what is wrong with me disagreeing with you. I am not sure how my posts have trolled you or anyone else. If someone can tell me or show me, I will happily

  24. The Kyle Berkshires of the world are not taking over the Tour. Wouldn't they have already done it if they could? I went back and graphed the driving distance info from 1980 to 1990 cause I'm a nerd. Eleven years worth of data points. Longest average driver in that time period was at 285.7 (1986). Longest, shortest average driver was 246.2 yards in 1988. The longest mid point and longest tour average for drives was also in 1988, 263.4 and 262.9 respectively. For more grins I charted the years 2000, 2010 and 2019 just to compare. The shortest hitter on Tour in 2019

  26. Had my fitting today. It was only 45 minutes. I would need at least 3 hours to test everything I wanted with different shafts Luckily I could stay for another 1.5 hours to test more of the stuff on my own on the side. Fitter recommended this: TSi3 9* Smoke RDX 6.5 44.75” A1 weight position H2. SW D2 TSi3 16.5* Smoke RDX 6.5 42.5” C1, weight neutral. SW D2 I’m a smooth swinger, Smoke RDX in 6.5 shouldn’t fit me. Felt like a telephone pole. I like lively shafts and my speed was only 104mph with driver, but on the other hand 100mph with 16.5 at 42.5” w

  29. Actually Sfd732 made it painfully obvious that what we are seeing is impact damage caused by force being applied there to cause the fibers to push inward. You added the transit part. "...The second picture shows the carbon fiber being broken inward, not outward. I can only come to the conclusion that the club was subjected to some form of impact from the outside inward. Smashing on ground into tee marker, into a tree, etc..."

  37. Played a half day of hooky yesterday and joined a couple of other old guys from our group at Blackstone. Apparently that part of the Chicago area hasn't had the rain amount that we've seen in the Naperhell area over the last week. The course was in very good shape and other than a few low spots, was playing the usual Blackstone fast and firm. Greens were all recovered from being aerated and holding nicely. Most of the bunkers had newly placed sand and on #4, my second shot ended up in the bunker short of the green and all you could see was a tiny spot on top of the ball. A decent

  38. Hi folks, newbie here but have followed the LPGA for quite some time... All good picks. Curious to see if Minjee Lee can do it this time. Kelly Tan has been doing solid this year too, along with Ashleigh Buhai the past few tournaments... Amongst rookies, tough to tell, but Yealimi Noh has been extremely consistent so I expect her to place well. Dark horse picks are the U of A alumns: Haley and Bianca. Both going in different directions though with their games, at this point of the year. Hence dark horse solid placements ( I don't expect any rookies to win, but it's been an odd ye

  39. This is where the World Handicap System is totally flawed. The current system in the UK is based on competition scores only and they must be verified by another player. Your handicap is fixed by your performance in competition and it is very difficult to side-step. The dumbed down WHS is open to so many abuses. Sorry to side-track

  42. I am trying to look at this with no bias, but here is my issue with the situation. Let's say that Thor swung the club and so much pressure was created inside the head that it blew the back of the club out. The second picture shows the carbon fiber being broken inward, not outward. I can only come to the conclusion that the club was subjected to some form of impact from the outside inward. Smashing on ground into tee marker, into a tree, etc... but this is just my opinion.

  47. This is a super interesting post to me because I find myself in this exact dilemma! My driving iron and long irons are easily my best clubs from the tee. I had a 16* low launching hybrid in the bag a few years ago that was money when I could catch it right, but I just never got comfortable with it. Right now, I'm bagging exactly what you listed: a 22* hybrid AND an 18* driving iron. This seems weird to me "on paper," but nearly every time I hit the course w/o the 22* hybrid, I regret it. It's just a lot easier to trust that club for long shots from the rough and other bad lies, eve
