  1. Regardless of your politics ... the PGA Tour created hard and fast rules to avoid making hard decisions in these issues, whether the player was in dead last or 6 strokes ahead. The rules are black and white for a reason. The players agreed to the rules. No outcry from players, just from social media warriors.

  2. I grew up broke and blue collar and believe it or not I was taught to have manners and respect for others (and myself). The idea that respect and decorum are for the elite, white collar, rich, etc. is just straight insulting. Character doesn't have a tax bracket.

  3. So the question should be, why is this MORON not vaccinated? Really? He’s a golf star and makes millions hitting a ball around in front of crowds, and he’s not vaccinated?

  4. He played this week under the contact tracing rules, which included daily testing. He knew this was a possibility. His back up test didn’t come back positive until he was almost done with the third round, which is why they waited until he was finished. You can be vaccinated and still test positive. The same thing happened recently to Bill Maher. Whether you like this result or not, the Tour’s protocols are why we got to enjoy golf when other sports were sitting it out. Blaming the Tour for this result is ridiculous.

  5. I'm an American, so I'll say this: Just another case of the USA being "homer's". No way it gets switched over if Lexi was involved in the playoff.

  8. Congrats to Patrick, but there's definitely a dark cloud over the finish of this tournament. John Rahm's situation shows how silly and absurd the past 15 months have been. He's not sick, is exhibiting no symptoms, and is clearly in good health having walked ~9 miles while running away from the rest of the field in this golf tournament. While the PGA had rules in place that were followed, I don't think these asinine rules are above criticism. The fact that a perfectly healthy athlete is forced to withdraw 3/4 of the way through and lose their essentially locked in ~$1.7

  9. I think every understands the point you’re making, that the rules are the rules. The issue being raised is that the rules don’t make sense and/or they’ve already made exceptions to them and therefore the “just following the rules” excuse no longer holds water. They allowed him to finish playing the 3rd round while knowing he had a positive test. If it’s unsafe for him to play today, then it was unsafe for him to be playing 13-18 yesterday (or whatever hole he was on when the positive test result came back). As someone said several pages back, they should have

  10. Or the official who put his arm around Rahm to console him after telling him he would have to withdraw because he tested positive for something so dangerous that allowing him to continue playing a non-contact sport outdoors would put others in jeopardy.

  11. "Cheating" is a very strong, ugly word. One doesn't cheat by calling over a rules official. She thought she was entitled to relief, and made her case. The official obviously agreed with her. The official may have been wrong, but that's on the official, and not Lexi. Heck, everyone knows that Lexi takes divots the size of dinner plates, so it's possible that her club could have caught the head. Lol.

  12. Class act for Lexi to go out and sign some autograph for the kids afterwards. I have never seen Lexi walk away from an autograph or selfie request. Lexi has received some criticism for some things over the years....but Lexi can never be questioned on how well she treats her fans.

  14. I don’t think there has been a MASSIVE fallout of criticism over the forced withdrawal. There has been an outpouring of support and best wishes for a speedy recovery for Rahm. We may have turned the corner on the pandemic but not to the point where a verified positive test is ignored.

  16. Quite the day. Congrats to Yuka, and welcome to the LPGA. Fourth non-member to win a major in three years. Impressed by her short game, and poise after the early doubles. Well deserved. Megha was a joy to watch. I'm sure we'll see plenty of her in the future. What a run by Nasa. Japan would have gone bonkers if she had pulled it out. Chin up, Lexi. Tough to follow up a great round. There's a reason we don't see many 54 hole leaders hoisting the trophy. Impressive weeks by Angel and Megan. I didn't think they'd be in the conversation.

  18. Them's fighting words! She grew up in the Philippines, played her golf in the Philippines, represented the Philippines at the Asian Games and in junior golf ... the Japanese just stole her like they did with Naomi Osaka ... what can you do? The economic advantages in Japan far exceed those in the Philippines. Today, the "Filipino American Army" was out to support Yuka! @Supermilo

  19. It's not about Rahm feeling no effects. It's about passing it on to someone (about 40 % are not symptomatic) and they have symptoms, perhaps severe, or in worst case, fatal. 2.390 people were admitted to hospitals last week. 362 people died yesterday. 76% of people who were admitted to hospitals and have "recovered" from Coivd experience one of more lingering symptom for at least six months. I can't believe that I have to type this out.

  20. Wow congrats to Yuka Saso, she held together enough after the rough start and full advantage when she got a 2nd chance. Nice run by Nasa, 2nd is very good for where her game has been.

  21. Right. I’m not at all saying they’ve changed the rule to get Rahm out. He knew. I just think it’s a protocol for protection in name only since they aren’t quarantining all his contacts. They need to grow a set and require vaccines and face that blowback , or just stop with the testing. I truly don’t get the testing anyway at this point. My wife works in a hospital. In a surgery center. She has not been required to be tested. Not once. They only require it if you miss work with symptoms to return. if we aren’t testing healthcare workers daily. Why test golfers da

  22. Common sense and scientific evidence often are mutually exclusive. For proof I give you the 25 handicapper with a big slice. Ball curves way right and what do they do ? Aim further left and slice it further right. Or the professional athlete who still swears the earth is flat. I know about your self-diagnosed ADD so I'll keep this (kinda) short. (Especially) health/medical science is seldom 100% accurate - except that we will eventually die. Medical "miracles" occur daily. So they observe, collect and study facts and other data and come up with conclusions/r

  25. The circular reasoning (or lack of) is astounding. If he wasn’t removed from yesterday’s round after the positive test, because they simply told his playing partners to social distance, etc., then that’s all that’s necessary for him to play today! If yesterday’s playing partners don’t need to quarantine because they’re vaccinated, then Rahm can play today with any vaccinated player. Unless the vaccine isn’t an actual vaccine and doesn’t stop one from getting/passing the virus...in which case, his vaccinated playing partners from yesterday shouldn’t be out ther

  26. I understand there are many sides to the Rahm story and people have passionate opinions but I'll just add one more. For me, the tournament is an asterisk. Rahms leaving has left a bad taste in mouth and no matter who wins, I can't help but think the best guy this week isn't taking home the trophy. Say what you will about the rules being the rules, but the rules ain't always right. Others have correctly pointed out the glaringly obvious hypocrisy of the PGA and why he was allowed to continue playing. I would concur. I can't help but think a lot of the TV personalities are trying to

  27. PGA rules are clear. Vaccinated and close contact - no further tracking. Not vaccinated and close contact - daily testing and eliminated w/positive test. I like Rahm, a lot, but in the end he is responsible for his behavior. Rules were/are clear to all participants beforehand. Given the rules, how does a professional player, going after very big $$, not eliminate one obvious source of financial risk? And nobody is going to sue the PGA and win on this - dream on with that one, people. Roll up those sleeves, PGA tour players, if you don’t want this to happen to you.

  32. I think one of the best things about sports that sets it apart is just this moment -- a shared moment of insight into the human element. She shared how much it meant to her and how much time, effort and perseverance that goes into sporting achievement. Think Lou Gehrig and his "Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth.” or The sheer exuberance of the 1980 US Hockey team (even as a Canadian, I can appreciate that moment!), a near collapsed Muhammed Ali slumped in his stool after the "Thrilla in Manilla". Just my two cents.

  35. OK ... how can they lump in Watson in 1987 with what Palmer and Thompson did today? That is just annoying. Watson shot a 70 that Sunday (I watched every one of them). Simpson shot a 68 to WIN that day, nobody lost that tournament. Watson almost holed a 35 foot birdie on the last hole to force a playoff. Rant over.

  42. I don't think "Your honor, I screwed around and found out" is a viable basis for a lawsuit. Like'em or not, the Tour guidelines are pretty straightforward, and if anything they bent a little and went the extra mile to let him play.

  43. Rather than criticize then what should the tour have done in your opinion? They have rules in place for this and they were followed to the letter. Rahm was in a great position to win but certainly hasn’t won yet so all the win talk about glory and endorsement money is misplaced. Nothing was robbed. As for the so called super league angle…. Is the $30m tumor per season or a contract for a few years. Superstars make that per year currently and when they find out they will lose out on major opportunities and endorsement cash the league will look less interesting. Per

  44. Another new (old) set of sticks arrived. It's always a kick to see the condition they come in after buying on line. The shop put them at B-. I look at the faces and there is hardly a mark. They look like they've never been taken out on the course and for a club that Tiger Woods played in his teens. The finish is similar to the Miz Super 11, Dunlop DP 601, Bridgestone Proisme and a few other really high end clubs from the early-mid 90's. I've never seen any like that with the Advisors. They come with some sort of gold-hued proprietary steel shaft too. Woods said he liked
