  2. Forest Hill FC is an option. so is montclair.
  3. still open to public. conditions are OK. green speeds vary from green to green which drives me nuts. slow rounds. rumor is that wont be public for long and eventually will get redeveloped but thats just a rumor.
  4. selling my TM Sim 10.5* with PX Evenflow Riptide 60s. standard length. used about 1 dozen rounds, a few dings on the topline but still in great shape. includes headcover and tool. $275 shipped.
  5. havent gone yet. just aerated like 2 weeks after opening so waiting it out. buddy played it before the aeration and said was good but hes also never played it before. got beat up later in season last year. also, the secret of rock spring got out. was easy to book a tee time early season unlike other local courses that were packed) bc you have to book directly on their site but late in the season, tee times were hard to come by (like everywhere else).
  6. red is the only other course worth playing. the rest are meh and slow. eisenhower red is great but you need a leisure pass to have a chance to get tee times. if youre a single, you have a chance but a 4some, zero chance. harbor links is fine. so is middle bay. ferry point also solid though will set you back $200+.
  7. Dye is good, Wannamaker is better. Ryder course is meh. practice facilities are great. worth the drive. Abacoa is in great condition but a lot of meh florida holes. Rees Jones is solid course with a ton of water. not an easy course. also not cheap.
  8. personally i think poppy is overrated, though a really good deal, espcially if you are a NCGA member. i also love Half Moon Bay Ocean and Spanish Bay and think Spyglass is overrated. Spyglass is great and the first 4 holes are AMAZING. but the rest of holes are in the trees and honestly, its like playing poppy but for 3x the price. both HMB and Spanish Bay you get great holes on the water, what i look for when playing these types of courses. yes, HMB is a bit of a tourist trap, but its still a great course. and yes, SPanish Bay's conditions arent always perfect. but i want that links/ocean/view experience. also, blackhorse is a great option. another great course is Cordevalle which isn't too far away either. just my thoughts.
  9. covid has definitely made it harder to golf in the NYC area and public options are limited. LONG ISLAND bethpage - a great option but not that as a non state resident, getting tee times will be basically impossible. you can register for the system but you're getting the scraps of tee times. you can try your chances as a single but you can also end up sitting around for a while. eisenhower - was mentioned and its a great track but if you dont have a leisure pass (which i dont think you can get as a non county resident) harbor links - probably your best bet, but tee times still not easy to come by NYC marine park - in brooklyn. flat and boring. but hey, its golf. dyker - also in brooklyn. less flat but still not a good course la tourette - on Staten Island. best of the NYC munis (not thats saying much) Ferry Point - solid course but will set you back $230ish per round NJ Skyway - great 9 holer next to marshlands where they bury bodies Galloping Hills - solid muni but hard to get tee times there are a ton of other good options in NJ, better than LI or NY, but now youre talking over an hour drive for you. hope this helps. PM me if you have more questions - been living in NYC for 9 years playing 70 rounds a year so know my way around.
  10. is grip an issue for you? is waterproofing also a need? i wear my vans ultrarange a bunch when playing golf. but i almost aways wear spikeless and grip isnt an issue with me. the only complaint is that if its wet, i need waterproof/resistant shoes so my socks dont get wet. but when i play walking courses like streamsong or bandon, i usually wear sneakers. also, these adidas golf shoes are basically sneakers and feel great too. https://www.tgw.com/adidas-mens-adicross-retro-golf-shoes
