  1. Thx! Agree thats definitely the one area I was thinking about upgrading. Hopefully SM7 or SM8 are similar in feel
  2. I’m a few cycles behind in my equipment. Please evaluate my bag and let me know where I may need to upgrade. I don't necessarily need a complete overhaul but if theres a club in my current bag that can or should be upgraded, please feel free to suggest. current bag heading into 2020 season: M2 10.5* Tour ADDI 6s M2 15* Tour ADDI 7s 915 Hd 17.5* 714 AP2 4-P s300 SM6 50F SM6 54F Callaway 58 PM grind Ping My Day bronze

I can 1/2 and 3/4 swing my PW to distance between 115 and 125.....the 54 goes 100....115 if i step on it.....i can also dial it back for shorter pitches.....60 is just a greenside wedge

Love the ratings......need to put up some pics so theres not too many 2/10 and D- ratings.....as far as wedges go my PW is 48* and I should probably go 52 or 53 gap wedge with a 58 sand/lob wedge

Good points......after playing this crazy game for a long time I’ve realized its fairways and greens......some folks definitely benefit from new tech....we have a few youngsters at our club who absolutely kill their drivers.....and they always have the latest and greatest....for me I need to swing within myself and play from the fairway or first cut....im a good enough iron/wedge player to pretty much make par if im in a decent spot after my drive......I dont play in “real” tournaments but I do play in club events, occasionally work or charity outings and I’m in two different yearly “Ryder Cups”, one with my college buddies thats coming up on 20 year anniversary and another at my club between a few of us over 40 geezers and a couple under 40 “youngbucks” as we call them.....not tourney golf but pretty good friendly competition.....

The wedge grooves are definitely worn and I’m thinking of sending them to Continental golf in NC for regrooving.....

True I’m giving up yards but I’m more comfortable with it and know I can hit fairways with it. Everytime I’ve gone to a driver fitting I hit the new stuff way further on trackman. I remember my numbers with the epic sz were almost 280 carry and rolling out to 290ish vs 260 carry and 270 total with the 910 BUT on the course I hit the 910 260-270 and consistently in the fairway.....epic sz was all over the place with 1-2 drives per round hit well and 280-290 but the rest were hard to keep in play.....

Jholz, thx for your input.....with these clubs breaking 80 is always in play......Its obviously a mental/psychological issue but I just never felt comfortable with some of the newer stuff I’ve tried.....

Fried Slice lol.....ur probably right......DixieD I hit the 962s well, if I went to a forged club it would most like be 690.cb or AP2 710.....both of which I felt like I could play with

Please feel free to give me an assessment of my current bag. Ive gone back in time on some of the clubs with the philosophy of not chasing distance by buying the latest and greatest and just sticking to what works and what ive played well with in the past. Current bag based on what I feel comfortable with and hit consistently but not necessarily the longest clubs I’ve ever hit: Driver: Titleist 910D2 Ahina 72s Fwy: Titleist 910Fd 13.5 Ahina 80s Hybrid: Mizuno MP Fli-hi 18* UST proforce 75s Hybrid: Titleist 503H 22* NV 75s Irons: Titleist 962 4-P Wedge: Vokey 452.08 Wedge: Vokey 460.10 Putter: Ping Anser A little about my game, 9 hcp driver ss 108 mph. Stronger iron and wedge player. Kind of streaky with woods hence the D2 model driver, with it in the bag I’m a little more consistent so its stayed in the bag despite trying M1, epic sz, SLDR and 915D4 with really inconsistent results.

Great advice all! I will look into the shafts although they seem ok, if I need the irons reshafted I’ll look at KBS tour as I always liked them during demo sessions.....As far as a more modern driver goes, any suggestions? I really like the sound, shape and size of the 909D3.....my M2 is also pretty solid but I’ve never been huge on 460cc heads....its probably mental but just seems harder to square up.....the newer 430cc heads all seem set up for scratch golfers with super high swing speeds? Anyone suggest a more forgiving 430cc head? I know the obvious answer would be Titleist910, 913, 915 D3....but am I really leaving alot of yardage on the table playing a 909 v the above Titleist drivers?

PuttingMatt, Yes I’m totally cool with this as my everyday set. The 962 irons are actually in great shape as they have been in my parent’s garage for the 15 years or so. I’m still playing to send them to Continental golf for refinishing/grooving.....the rest of the set is in great condition....I actually feel like I should sell my “newer” clubs ie. M2 driver, M1 FWs and Srixon 745 irons as they still have some value.....
  17. Titleist 962 3-P s300 sensicore with brand new GP Tour Velvet grips.....still sweet....will be sending to continental golf this spring for regroove and polishing

Interesting point about the fw....always played 3&5 wood but in the future will look at 4&7.....as far as putters, always loved the old school ping anser.....not sure why i ever went away from it but i did go through about 15 putters over the last 10 years.....when my buddies with cameron newports scoff at my 20 yr old putter i’ll remind them its actual a scotty cameron newport as well! Or at least the blueprint that was used by SC....

Great points guys! A couple of thoughts.....i do hit my M2 further BUT the 909 just feels sweet at impact and its easier to square up so im in play more often....not sure if the sweet feel at impact is related to the shaft or the fact that its a “glued in” head?? And yes I have the entire set regripped with brand new tour velvet grips +2 wraps and logos up! Also, i did notice the original SM vokeys have some serious bite to them, initially thought my wedge technique was on point but now realizing it’s probably the non conforming grooves......lastly the putter is staying no matter what
  21. Had so many 975Ds throughout the years including a steel shafted 7.5* with underlined loft that was an absolute beast of a driver.....my all fave though was a 975D 8.5* with the original Fujikura 757 Speeder shaft in it.....shot 78 at pebble beach with thet in my bag in 2003......
  22. Nothing wrong with playing the best driver of all time!

Lol we’re club hos, thats why!! But fair point.....I’m going to Scottsdale for my annual Ryder Cup with my college buddies, 4 days of 36 hole matches....intense rivalry and bragging rights on the line.....seriously considering taking the old school bag and seeing how it holds up under “pressure”......
