  1. And to follow up on this, the manufacturer responded extremely quickly and agreed to send me two new replacements. So excellent customer service is alive and well. Thank you very much.
  2. I ordered 4 replacement hickory shafts from a well-known seller/maker of hickory clubs. They arrived today. Two are in good shape and will be just fine. The other two are unfortunately noticeably bowed. Is it wrong to be disappointed? I know hickory is not steel, but I would have thought they would be mostly straight, particularly from this manufacturer.
  3. I suppose it felt somewhat softer than my previous putter. Honestly I don’t know how to answer this because I wasn’t focused on it at the time. I just know that it feels really good in my hands, particularly the weight.
  4. I recently bought a new putter from David. I went with the Anser 2 style in a gun blue finish. I considered some custom stamping, but at the end of the day I generally prefer a simple look. So I went with no custom stamping or paint fill. The owner is a younger guy and lives about 10 minutes from where I am, so I like the idea of supporting a local startup company rather than a more-established brand. He is eager to answer questions and will work with you to build what you want. From a playability standpoint, I really like the look and weight of the putter. I used it a couple days ago for the
  5. How are the straps? Do they seem large enough? At first glance, they seemed smaller than the straps on my current bag (an L8 from a few years ago).
  6. For anyone with a CEL, have you used it yet and, if so, could you please share your thoughts? I was considering the bag, but my initial impression was not favorable. But I am hoping to hear from those with firsthand experience using the bag.
  7. I went to my local 2nd Swing in Columbia, MD this afternoon. They had a few of the CEL bags in stock. Unfortunately my first impression of the bag was not favorable. Maybe it’s just the ultra lightweight material, which I hope is the case, but the bag actually seemed sort of cheap and flimsy. I like the lightweight feel, but the bag overall was less than I was hoping. I still would like to hear from anyone else who has seen or used the CEL. But unless someone can convince me otherwise, it would be tough to replace my older L8 bag with the CEL.
  8. I like purchasing from small businesses that take pride in their products. With that in mind, I recommend checking out the headcovers from Geaux Golf. She is making a couple tartan wool headcovers for me.
  9. Has anyone seen the Craz-e-lite in person? I am leaning toward ordering one from my club, but I would really like to hear about how sturdy it is before I pull the trigger. I have an older model of the L8 from about 3-4 years ago and love it. The CEL seems similar to that earlier model. I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who already has or has seen the CEL.

I would like to put together a persimmon event, golf festival with a buy, sell, trade, & show off what you got. 2-4 rounds with competition and camaraderie. What do you all think? I think it’s a great idea. I’m all for it.
  11. There’s an upcoming persimmon golf event at Sweetens Cove in September. Look up the Eternal Summer Golf Society for details if you are interested.
  12. I’m working on restoring a Mac M85 3 wood. I removed the original shaft, which was pretty rusted over. Once finished, the club will look good (the wood and sole plate stampings are crisp). But I need a new shaft. Does anyone have a lead on .294 tip Tourney shafts?
  13. I have a question for the M85 experts — how do you tell the year of a particular M85? I know the 1952 version had the 5-screw insert. But how do you know whether a 6-screw insert version is from 1953, 54, or 55?
  14. I just picked up a set of 1971 Wilson Dynapowers that I’m eventually going to reshaft after I get them refinished (the grooves especially need some work). But I can’t wait to hit them.
