  2. Phil's video helped me also with my chipping. His technique is pretty close to Mark M's as he also promotes the "hinge and hold". If memory serves, the only difference is his ball position is more forward and shaft lean less pronounced. Other than that, pretty spot on. BTW, like Mark, I find more success with a back ball position also. One more fundamental Phil reinforces is keeping the club moving towards the target so that the club head doesn't pass your hands (the "hold" part of the hinge and hold). He also says to vary the length of the back swing but still swing aggressively throug
  3. I just switched to a set of Bridgestone J36 Pocket Cavities and they are pretty forgiving. They look great at address and in the bag also.
  4. I think the term SGI is being used too liberally in this thread. Many of the sets mentioned are GI's, not SGI's.
  5. I'm about to put a Rife Abaco with custom paint fill on the Bay or perhaps the BST (I haven't decided). If you're interested, then PM me.
  6. Money for playing golf my a$$. I know you. You're probably going to buy another Byron. Anyway, good luck with the sale...
  7. Took a spin around the Target stores here in the NW Chicago burbs. There were differences across the stores on what was on clearance. At one location, I nabbed a box of Titleist NXT Tours for $7.48. At another, I got the Bridestone Treo Soft's at the price mentioned but they only had one box. At the store here in Algonquin they didn't have any balls on clearance even though they had the same balls in stock that were available at the lower price at other area stores. I argued with the store manager and tried to get them to price match but he wouldn't do it (I even showed him the receipt
  8. The G5 is such a totally different animal - thick top line and massive offset. If you're even considering the G5's then you shouldn't be looking at the other three. Complete different ends of the spectrum. I5's are the most forgiving of the three player irons you mention. Plenty of mid to low handicappers game them on this board. One of the best irons Ping has ever produced. Why pay for a new set of I5's? There are plenty of lightly used sets available for sale on Ebay or Craigslist. Just make sure to buy from a reputable seller outside of Asia and ask for serial numbers so you can
  9. I still can't get used to square geometry heads. They just look like a big toaster on a stick to me. Ugh. I opted for the Dymo STR8-Fit for my 2010 driver. They have really come down in price now that the Victory Red's are out. But if they would have released a rounded version of the Machspeed then I would have given it serious consideration. I've heard good things about it performance wise.
  10. Not to mention the fact that in six months that Taylormade driver isn't going to worth much after they come up with six new versions of it. Ping clubs always hold their value extremely well. There have been instances when I've sold older ping clubs a year or two after I've used them for more than I originally paid.
  11. Wow, I thought I saw some bad fakes when I was in China but those are god awful. People have no shame.

My wife put a large package of clothes to give to the local thrift shop.It was around the house for over a month because it was to heavy for her to lift. After asking me several times to bring the packages to the shop I finally went.I left the package with the clerk at the front desk and went to look around by the sports equiptment section. In the corner were 2 Ping iron boxes.I ope
