  1. Oh so true…the Zings were one of my favorite Ping irons until a number of the shafts bent!!
  2. I see True Temper now has a Dynamic Gold 95 iron shaft, anyone have any experience with this shaft? How does it compare to other light weight steel shafts like the Elevate 95, Dynamic Gold 105, Modus 105? Looking for any feedback.
  3. If you are going to use graphite shafts make sure the hosel has an interior bevel of 20* at the top…some of the older irons did not come beveled. Also I would suggest using a ferrule, it helps the shaft from possible breakage at the top of the hosel.
  4. I think the UST website will give tipping instructions, if not the GolfWorks web site gives the tipping instructions.
  5. Any news on the TS-3 irons…update on arrival..photos??
  6. I have played the UST Recoil ES, ESX and Smacwrap 760 & 780 all F3…some in the same heads some in different. From my experience the only difference is in the feel…the ES & ESX are very similar in feel and performance. The Smacwrap shafts feel different to me, they have less feel or feedback. They do not feel any stiffer at similar weights while the 780s did feel more stout.
  7. It use to be free back in the Ping Eye2 days and maybe a little after that…my last set I sent back were Ping i15 irons but I can’t remember what they charged, I do know it was very reasonable. My son just sent a set of iBlades back to be refinished and it was $15-18 a club. Their customer service is not as good as in the past but it’s still the best in the business.
  8. You have 2 reasons why it is illegal.. 1) the grip is not circular/round….2) it is not separated by 1.5 inches.
  9. This may sound strange but you can do it either way. The main thing is to be consistent with your method for measuring. There are multiple articles within regarding the different methods for measuring club lengths. Also not all grips have the same size cap so you can put that issue into your equation.
  10. I’ve been looking for a slightly lighter weight version of the Modus 3 120 shaft and so far there has been nothing in graphite or steel that has a similar EI Profile.
  11. I suffered with golfers elbow for many years, it started back in the late 80’s…I’ve switched back and forth between steel (with sensicores) and graphite. Graphite is the only thing that has worked for keeping my golfers elbow at bay…..I’ve spent the last 10 years looking for the perfect graphite shaft…and still haven’t found it.
  12. Checkout Billy Bob’s Golf they carry a variety of brass weights for graphite shafts that will not require excess tip trimming. I’ve used them for all of my graphite iron builds. https://www.billybobsgolf.com/product-category/club-making/weights/shaft-weights/
  13. Boy…you guys have just described my 2021 season. I’ve been struggling with consistency with the 5 iron all season. I’m struggling to find the right replacement for my bag. I have a 25* Titliest H1 I’ve been testing…but not loving. I’m thinking of trying a Cleveland Turbo Halo 5 iron like Mark Crossfield. I really need to find an answer before next season starts.
  14. I’ve used the GolfWorks tape for years and never had any issues. Also use the odorless mineral spirits, I’ve tried the Brampton grip solvent but prefer the mineral spirits.
  15. I use the OD of an iron hosel when ordering ferrules.
  16. How To Enter 1. Must subscribe to Club Champion's YouTube channel HERE DONE 2. Search for your local Club Champion location HERE DONE 3. What Club Champion location would you get fit at? DETROIT 4. Have you been fit for clubs before? YES 5. What part of your bag could use a fitting? My irons
  17. 1. West Bloomfield MI 2. 4.7 3. Callaway Rogue Pro / Mizuno HM Pro 4. Right handed 5. I’m looking for a new set of irons and I like the new 201 design. 6. Yes
  18. I’m currently playing the ES 460… but I’ve played the ESX 780 & the Smacwrap 780 plus 2 older UST Tour Weight graphites in 95 & 125. One of my issues with these is even though they are taper tip from UST they are descending weight and the short irons just don’t feel right. I’m going to test the Recoil 95 & the Steelfiber i95 & fc90.
  19. Thanks for the feedback…I’ve never played KBS shafts. Never liked the feel of Rifles & Project X shafts. Before graphite I’ve played DGS300s, TT AMTs and Ping AWTs. I have played some 90-95 gram graphites in the past but still searching for the right combination.
  20. I’m looking for some feedback….trying to find a graphite shaft in the 90-95 gram area that has a similar EI profile to a Modus 120 regular shaft. I like the feel of a Modus 120 but need a little lighter weight in graphite. I’ve had too many wrist and elbow issues to go back to steel shafts. I’ve used sensicore inserts in the past but that’s not enough vibration damping for me now. I’ve been playing a light weight UST Recoil the last few years but I need something with a little more weight especially in the short irons.
  21. The Recoil 780 f3 .370 shaft would work in the hybrids. UST also makes a Recoil ES hybrid shaft that is very similar to the 780 that would work.
  22. Recoil 95 are only a 6 gram weight difference between 2 iron & PW…where the TT AMT shaft is a 24 gram difference between 2 & PW. I wouldn’t consider the Recoil shaft to be an Ascending Weight Shaft option. Another option could be the Steelfiber 90fc…while it’s not an AWT shaft it will play similar IMO to an AWT shaft.
  23. AP1s are a cast club…changing lie on a cast club always runs the risk on breaking the club…whether the person is experienced or not..experience should lessen the chance of the club breaking.
  24. Golfsmith was bought by Golf Galaxy then Dick’s bought Golf Galaxy. Not GolfWorks…
