  1. Anyone ever play Aberdeen or have a recommendation in Valpo/ Chesterton, IN?
  2. Big fan of both Prairie Landing and HoE, that's a tough call, play both of them:) Ravisloe yesterday. Ravi's one of my favorites, unfortunately, I don't get there as much as I used to. As discussed, every local course is more dried out than usual for this time of year, however, I thought Ravisloe's conditions are below the competition, While the greens were nice, there're dandelions everywhere, lots of concrete like bare patches in the fairways and around the greens. I went to Sand Valley last weekend, If you haven't been, I highly recommend it. This was my 5th or 6th visit, I like it more each time. Both Sand Valley and Mammoth Dunes are spectacular and The Sand Box is a blast. Drive isn't bad either, 3.5 hrs door to door.
  3. Haven’t posted in a long while and hope everyone is well. Played a few rounds already including Pine Meadow, Sunset Valley, The Preserve, and Village Links. All in much better than expected condition. Every year seems we always have the same Big Run discussion. Glad their are others that fantasize about spending lottery winnings to purchase and sustain it. I moved to Chicago right when Harborside opened and have a love hate relationship with the facility. They did do a nice job renovating and improving the bunkers, however, as a whole it’s no where near as nice as it was when it first opened.
  4. Add me to the list of dissatisfied Club Champion customers. My experience not only includes similar poor communication regarding delivery, a driver and 3w that had an immediate rattle in the heads. After gaining experience using and understanding Trackman data, totally misfit clubs. lesson learned, I do find @ClubChampion’s response inappropriate.
  5. Last year I was fit for a 10.5* Callaway Maverik w Reg Mitsubishi C6 Blue shaft. It’s been ok. This winter, I got access to a Trackman and have gained understanding of swing dynamics and numbers. Swing speed 93-95 mph, ball speed 140-ish, hit up 2-3*, path 4-6 right, face 2-3 right. Spin 1500-1700, carry 190-200. Obviously, the spin is the issue. A pro where I practice had me try a driver with a stiffer shaft. My spin and carry improved dramatically. See the attached pics. For many reasons, I had a bad experience where I was fit and will cut my loss and move on. I’m looking for shaft suggestions, my goal is to keep it under $150. thanks

  7. Anyone been to Big Run recently? Haven’t played there this year and heard it’s in rough shape.
  8. I also like the Red Course, but have only played it a few times.
  9. Fair Question, I play the whites unless the rest of the group makes a big fuss: One) I only get out there once a year, so it's not a local I get really comfortable on. Two) I'm not the longest player (ave off the tee 240-250) it just plays long for me. If I miss a fairway, I have to lay up. IMO, to play well on the Black, you have to be able to hit a high 200 yard shot. I don't have that. Three) I never have decent looks at birdie, seem to have lots of 10-15 footers to save par. Four) I always manage to lose a ball (usually on #5), those add up. I love the Black and always look forward to my opportunities to play it. Some will jump on this, I've played Torrey South, which I also like, and have broken 80 there.
  10. A few years ago we got paired w a guy in full matching tour outfit, his sunglasses even matched his shoes. He told us he was going to play from the back of the tournament tee boxes. I'll admit my first impression was D-bag. 68 shots later, the guy shook our hands and said have a nice day. One of the best rounds I've ever seen up close, and the only person I've played with that really played the course without ever struggling or having a blow up or two. My index is 6.5, and I've never broken 84 on the Black and I'm usually closer to 90.
  11. Not sure if anyone else experiences this, but I always find it interesting. Whenever friends who aren't as addicted to golf as me suggest playing, they always want to play White Pines. There're so many better options for $50 than that place.
  12. Preserve on Sat, the course is getting a little beat up. Not horrible, but showing the signs of August. Prairie Landing yesterday was in great shape. After all my complaining about Club Champion. I have to admit the driver is a beast. Good shots are 10 to 20 yards longer and the bad ones are significantly better. On Prairie Landing 7, the par 5, I smoked one over the traps on the right and had 200 in. I've never come close to that before.
  13. You're way too cool for the Perillo Tour. But, if your interested, I know a good penny/ point Mahjong game to get you prepped.
  14. Club Champion saga update. My driver and 3w came in yesterday, Yeah!! I drove up to Deerfield, picked them up and went straight to the Deerfield G.C. Driving Range. Hit a few warm up shots, then pulled the driver and smashed a few over the back of the range. Very Happy!!. Grabbed the 3w, and as soon as the head cover came off, there was a giant rattle, something loose inside the shaft. I didn't hit it and pulled the driver back out. After a half dozen shots, the driver started to rattle. Now, I'm annoyed. I punt the bucket ($20) and head back to CC. The kid there says, "no big deal. It's loose glue and an easy fix." He takes them in the back and did something. When he handed them back, I swung, bounced the grip end on the floor, and waggled a few times. There was no rattle in either club. I headed home via Willow Hill's range. Hit roughly 20 drivers and the rattle came back. Now I'm pissed. I know many are happy with CC fittings and purchases, I'm quite disappointed.
