  2. I had the Blueprints 5-p, and combo them with a g400 crossover. Personally, I would have much preferred to keep the Blueprints all the way through the 4. The crossover was the opposite of everything I liked about the blueprints. I loved the small profile and thin sole the BPs provided, and the crossover was really big and cumbersome by comparison. I hit far more consistent shots with the BPs. If you are worried about gaps, I would consider: 1) getting the BPs through the set but choosing a softer, easier to launch shaft (I played KBS Tour regular in the irons and x-stiff in driver

  4. I played blades most of my golfing life, but have switched to GI and Players Distance irons a few times to see what the hype is about. I’m getting older and a little extra distance wouldn’t hurt. A little background before I respond to the original post: I struggled with distance in my irons for years. I’m a good player, and in my younger years could move the club a bit, but struggled to hit 7 iron more than 150. After switching to an x-flex shaft in my irons, however, I IMMEDIATELY picked up 20 yards per club. Distance was always a spin issue for me, and the stiffer shafts knock
  5. This is my recollection, as well, except I recall they were made for Ernie Else. Shorter blade length, but thicker proportions with more bounce. All the Titleist blades from this series (670,680,690) had wood dowells in the tips.
  6. You bigger guys are speaking my language. I'm 6' and 235 with a baseball catcher's build. 36" waist and 46" coat, with thick chest, shoulders, arms, and thighs. Today's golf styles are not made for me. They squeeze in places I don't want to be squeezed!! Keep praying pleats return for the sake of comfort, but buy too big and make due until that day comes. Anyone thought about the online custom options like MTailor??
  7. Bad fit. Bought them with the stock s300 shafts, and they were just dead for me.
  8. I don't have a tree. I have a National Forrest. I have a real problem. Honestly, I've probably gone through 100 sets of irons since I started playing in 2000. I've slowed down a lot, but still probably go through 5-10 sets a year. Since Christmas, I've had: Titleist 718AP2 Titleist 718MB Ping i210 Ping G410 Miura CB57 Ping iBlade Srixon z785 Mizuno mp32 Ping Blueprint I'm about to pick up some TM p790s. My name is BCULAW, and I have a problem.
  9. All I know is that a set of Ping G410s (4-A) gives me a lovely loft spread from 50* in the A wedge to 20* in the 4, which is perfect in an 8 iron set. Is my 4 really a 3? Is my A wedge really a P wedge? I don't care. All of them go high, straight, and long. I hope Ping keeps doing what they do.
  10. It’s a fun project. I installed some years ago in a set of Titleist 690s that I had rechromed. I wanted to replicate the original feel. It was an easy enough process. That said, I ended up reshafting them and didn’t use the dowels. Not sure I could tell any difference between “dowelled” and “un-dowelled.” Don’t expect anything earth shattering.
  11. I didn't have any issues with knock downs, although I should note that I was playing a weaker shaft than I usually play. That was actually one of the cool things about the G410s. The faces were "hot," so you didn't have to swing hard for them to go a long way, but they were also really consistent so they put out what you out in. In other words, since the shaft was easy to load, I didn't have to hit every shot hard. Easy distance, but a lot of versatility. I moved on from the 410s into the Blueprints, it stayed with the weaker shaft for this reason. It's transformed my iron play.
  12. I've bagged most of the current Ping lineup, including g410, i210, i500, and currently Blueprints. Besides the BPs, the 410s were my favorite by far. 210s seemed very dead and muted to me, and the i500s were wildly inconsistent. By comparison, I found the g410s to have a lovely feel and sound, with easy, consistent distances. One of my favorite sets, and I've played a TON of different irons. Im currently hovering around a 2hdcp. If I were to ever go back to GI clubs (which I tend to rather frequently), I will ALWAYS start with the G series. Just love them, and the 410
  13. These were a tour only release many years ago. IIRC correctly, TM released these and the CBs in standard offset, onset, and “2mm” which denoted additional offset. I have traditionally enjoyed a bit of offset and had the CB version for a bit. Back in the day there was another golf board/forum that sold them in their online shop. The MB version were also available at the time I purchased mine. They were allegedly forged by Miura, but you never know whether those legends are true. For reference, I think I paid $699 for mine new (heads only) in 2005-ish.
