  1. "Forgiveness" in a golf club is not some mystical hard to grasp concept. Its an engineering/manufacturing process that by the laws of physics creates a better opportunity to hit the ball straight through perimeter weighting and COG placement. Pre-conceived ideas don't change the laws of physics. Manufacturers make all kinds of clubs because one design doesn't work for everyone. Sounds like you found what works for you.
  2. 1. City, State? Portland Maine2. Handicap? 83. Current Iron set? Sub 704. Are you right-handed or left-handed? Right5. Why do you want to review the Takomo 201 irons? Always interested in trying new equipment.6. Do you agree to participate in an ongoing testing thread, posting reviews and photos? Yes
  3. Sub 70 irons and wedges. Doubt I'm missing anything significant.
  4. Once I find a grip I like it goes on everything.
  5. Have been purchasing from CPO for 10 years. Never a problem.
  6. Funny how the people who practice get better. If buying new/different clubs helps you enjoy the game and play/practice more then do it.
  7. Sounds like you expected a particular result form new irons- and got what you expected.
  8. Have you tried different settings on your driver? I just moved mine to 2 degrees up and hitting it very well. Should have tried it earlier.
  9. PGA tour average from 100 yards is just over 18 feet so hitting 20 straight within 30 feet would be very good.
  10. 1. City, State Portland, ME2. Handicap 83. What do you use for distances on the course? Rangefinder and GPS watch4. If you use a laser rangefinder, what model do you use? Bushnell Tour V35. Do you agree to participate in an ongoing testing thread, posting reviews and photos? Yes
  11. This debate probably varies by handicap. The player who can be very precise with iron carry distances is hitting the center of the club face and is probably a low single digit handicap. The rest of us would probably be better off with a club that offers better distance/forgiveness.
  12. Also recently bought the Titleist Aussie. Works great and don't find it distracting at all.
  13. 40 years older than you. Still play 4-5 times a week- but no 7,000 yard courses.
  14. Threetops- and agree with earlier comments about Mike Stranz.
  15. Lot's of ways to demo clubs at little/no cost. Callaway Preowned and Sub 70 for instance. If all else fails I just buy something that interests me, and sell it if it doesn't work out.
  16. The only way I know if a new club (driver, putter, irons) is going to work for me is to play them on the golf course for a month.
  17. Had the S20 which worked fine. Recently got the S40 which to me is worth the price difference. Lots of side buttons on the S20 and the current S12 take a while to learn how they function. The touch screen S40 is much easier to use on the course.
  18. The over sized- presumably perimeter weighted club- is always going to be the more forgiving club as a matter of physics, but that doesn't make it it the right club for every golfer.
  19. Recently moved to lighter/graphite shafts and kept the same shaft in all my irons. Works fine.
  20. People who want to cheat at golf or how their handicap is maintained are probably going to find a way to do it.
  21. Already disrespected whatever that is.
  22. When did we let simple disagreement become shaming? Play what you want to play and stop being so easily offended.
  23. Have not carried a three wood in at least 5 years. Off the tee it wasn't significantly more accurate than my driver, and off the deck having a three wood just encouraged me to try shots that I shouldn't.
