  1. Sadly, no. 5 hour+ rounds are becoming the norm.
  2. My son had a playoff hockey game at 4:20pm and a teetime for a SNJGA tournament at 10:30. He withdrew at 2pm after 11 holes which took 3.5 hours.
  3. You get to mark your ball one time on each green. After that, putt it out. This rule is inspired by Andy, who marked his ball and lined it up on a 10 inch putt. It was his fourth putt. He missed. You get two practice swings per shot. After that, it counts as a stroke. This rule is inspired by Lee, who took 6 practice swings, hit it OB, reteed, and then took seven practice swings before hitting it in the rough. My kid is getting really close to pulling a Koepka and just hanging out in the bathroom for 20 minutes until the whole group gets put on the clock. 5.5 hou
  4. My 11 year old gets his Srixon! Z-Stars are the best combo of distance, feel and durability. I think he's been playing the same ball for like 2 and a half rounds.
  5. Well, I'm 43 right now. If it happens for me anytime soon, I'll let you know.
  6. My son is 10. Incredibly lucky that his school is literally three blocks from a PGA Superstore. We have the yearly membership and three times a week, I pick him up from school and we head over for a half hour. Nothing serious, just fun. We usually play a closest to the hole game on the simulator. Just a little focus and getting that swing grooved has paid HUGE dividends for us. He's dropped about 18 strokes in the past 8 months and I've dropped almost 6! We try to get out and play 18 on the weekends too.
  7. I HATE the 10 minute before your tee time rule. If you're tee time is 9:00 and you stroll up at 8:59 ready to go, you're fine. You made your tee time. If they want the kids there 10 minutes early, then make the tee time 10 minutes before you actually want em to tee off. Ummmm.... I honestly don’t know where to begin. This is a rule at every tour other than US Kids and I wish it were a rule there as well. This helps keep tee times on time. It allows the starters appropriate time to go over important information. Exchange cards, mark balls, talk about hard card, pace of play. That's

  9. Round two today was a quick and painful regression. He shot a 79! I have no idea what clicked, but boy, it sure did start clicking!
  10. Nah, these aren't like super pressure goals and pep talks. More like setting goals of no triples and no three putts and how to handle it if he does. Zero encouragement for being the best, lots of encouragement for doing his best. He loves golf and loves the competition. All I ever wanted was a playing partner on the weekends!
  11. Thanks! He knows he caught fire and shouldn't expect to break his record by 14 the next time out. I, on the other hand, am expecting a 62 next time out.
  12. By far it was GIR by controlling the distances of his irons. Which resulted in fewer penalties.
  13. So my 10 year old kid has been playing junior tournaments in Las Vegas the last 16 months. Lots of rounds in the 100's, starting to get consistently in the low 90's lately and actually had his last two rounds on the 90 number exactly. We had a tournament today and we talked long and hard before hand about goals and expectations. Both he and I REALLY wanted a round in the 80's today. He played so well but just missed. . . . . . . . . He shot a 76!
  14. My son is playing the Project (a) ball from Taylor made. He like the fact it has two numbers on it. (33 vs 3). For tournaments, he changes the 33 into LEE, his name. Whatever makes him happy, I guess!
  15. Congrats to your kid! One thing to check, if he's hitting his 7i 155 his driver should be longer than 230. Might want to get him fitted to a more suitable driver.
