You'll have to wait until around August to see pics but I agree with @lefty1978 that a SEL set is the most likely option. I excoriated Mizuno when the MP-20 SEL came out because it was ridiculous to go from 3-4 HMB to 5-PW MB. Why would they release a set only suitable for a small percentage of golfers (people that can successfully game MB mid-irons) of an already small percentage of golfers (lefties)? Having said that, I think they knocked it out of the park with the JPX921 SEL (blend mix and pearl brush finish) and plan on getting a set this fall or next. For reference, I've been playing MP-53s for the last three years and change.

Would August be release date for new models? At this point, I might as well wait it out.

  2. Need to regroup my clubs and I’m going to try the Winn dri tac style. I’ve used Champkey grips off Amazon that were similar to a golf pride model and they worked great and they were way cheaper. Anyone know which ones are basically the Winn dri tac style?

Good list of pros there. Can I ask why you kept trying different instructors? I’ve done this also and for me I kept hoping another teacher would help but I never really improved. Would this be the same for you since they kept identifying the same issue?  Thanks.

I was going to go back to the same guy that I saw last year. But I decided to try someone new. I liked the new guys plan even though I can’t see him since he’s across the country.

I can get a lesson via FaceTime and send a video in in between lessons for feedback. Felt it was a good deal.

    I have positive thoughts.

  4. I need to strike the ball better so I can get into single digits and I simply want to hit more greens instead of scrambling so often.

i want to send my swing into a pro for drills and advice. Then work on the drills and send in another video. Currently use 18 Birdies and it says “ too much head movement” and “ not enough hip turn”

Any feedback on Adam Young golf?

  5. Playing a TM M6 with S flex Atmos orange shaft, SS around 100 MPH. Like the feel, like the ball flight longer than previous driver, dispersion is fine when I swing well but sometimes I'm all over the map. So I go Friday to get a fitting and see what they say. Been watching you tube, especially TXG channel on the effects of a shorter shaft. Seems to be positive.

Anybody else have experience with this and what were your results?

  6. I wanted to get an inexpensive portable launch monitor for my garage so I can see what my ball flight looks like. The one from Rapsodo looked like the best bang for your buck (if you have an Apple product)

I wanted to see some sort of side spin otherwise it was useless to me and it wasn't clear if it showed that with indoor use. I had a chat with a representative there this am and she said it will show a positive or negative for left and right dispersion. the one thing I did not ask was will it tell you how far left or right your ball went. I 'll go ask that now. Also as of this morning it is compatible with Iphone 8.

While this isn't perfect it's far less than a Mevo+.

Just sharing the info I learned.

  7. I think RI_Redneck is right but we know that's not possible. I guess I'll have to hit them and see. I'm also going to try the TM 770.

One thing I don't think I understand is workability. I an iron has more offset will that not make it easier to draw the ball? ( but harder to fade)

  8. Upon reading this Maltby chart I find it interesting.

My current JPX 900 forged are 438 points ( conventional)

Yet the 919 tour is  is 433 point and conventional as well.

The 919 forged are 619 points (game improvement)

This is quite shocking to me to see no difference between the 900 forged and 919 tour but a big difference between the 919 forged and the 900 forged. Wish the 921's were listed.

  9. I’ve hit the Mizuno sel and quite liked them. I’m curious about the P770 from TM. I’m not sure new less forgiving irons will be improve my game but maybe with the extra feel.

as far as forgiveness goes, I wonder how much difference there would be between the JPX 900 and the sel or 770?

  10. I've decided I want to venture into a blade style iron instead of always thinking I can't hit them. I'm a 10 handicap and thanks to 18 birdies I can finally see what I've been doing wrong.

I have the Mizuno JPX 900 now and they are fine but not much for the "feel" aspect. I'd really like to get the MP-20 SEL but not sure about the blade version 5-pw and the MMC by Mizuno doesn't come in left hand. What are some suggestions you have from other manufacturers?

  11. Lost my first match 1 down. was a great match and we both played well. Couple silly mistakes on my part. I tied up the match on 17 leading us to the par 5 18. it's under 500 yards dogleg left, normally a big cut for me being left handed works well. This time it was too much but i still got on the green in 3. His second shot was from 150 yards, lol. he lipped out his eagle putt and that left me to make birdie from 15' to take it to a playoff hole. I hit a great putt but it lipped out as well.

I've played that course a few times now so my next match is Monday there vs a guy who is a 14 and normally plays at a course that is wide open. I'll have an advantage I think, so I 'll play conservative and smart to win it.

  12. Been playing my current driver Cobra King Ltd pro since new. Distance is good but I struggle hitting it straight. Some of it is obviously me but I believe it is also a fade bias head.

Went to the golf store and tried out a couple TM drivers to see what the numbers would say. I hit a used M4 a new M2 and mine. All stiff flex 9.5 loft.

i did find the two TM’s were easier to hit straighter or maybe even a draw. Although they have standard size grips vs my midsize. Not sure if that could make a difference or not.

im attaching a picture of the average shots from the three. Purple is the M4, Red is Cobra and Blue is the M2.

This simulator is set at sea level I think so distance is always short of what GPS says on course.

Tell me what you see in these numbers.

Short game is king indeed. My ball striing has been terrible forever and putting and chipping have been the only reason I shoot in the 80's. Using a few drills I feel my ball striking is improving and I will never slack on the short game. Here's hoping single digits happen this year!

  14. I'll look that book yo MountainGoat.

i decided to hit the range after work and work on a drill I was taught to keep the arms and body connected. (Which has been my biggest ball striking issue)

Started out hitting half shots and then longer. Once I felt confident I hit the ball like I was playing. Seemed to work well tonight, I've used this drill before with some success so I'll stick with it. When my swing got out of hand again I went back to the drill and things came around. I think I'll stick to this plan as it's been the most successful so far.

  15. I' a 13 handicap and want to get lower so I've taken lessons and feel I understand what I need to do to improve ball striking but struggle actually improving while I practice.

I have some drills to work on so last time I went to the range I did those and then hit a few balls, drills hit balls etc. Then when I get on course all the bad habits come back and I feel I'm back to square one.

How have you guys practiced irons etc to actually hit the ball better when it matters?
