1. Mods, not sure if this is the appropriate section so please feel free to move if it's not. I wanted to get the opinions of some of my fellow golfers who go on European golf holidays as some research into a business that the wife and I are looking into setting up in the near future so just posting on a few forums to gauge some opinions (obviously not an ad for a business as I don't have one yet...) We're looking at the feasibility of opening a small B&B / hotel on the south coast of Spain aimed squarely at golfers and wanted to gauge some opinions from people who regularly go on golf holidays either as groups or couples so any input would be massively appreciated. The aim of the business would be to offer an alternative to the typical tour package golf holiday for small groups / couples / friends etc and get them away from the busy resort courses (we all know how frustratingly slow holiday golf can be at times) to some of the alternate courses in the area but also give them the flexibility to play multiple courses in the area and not just be tied to one course for the whole holiday (unless they wanted to of course). The sort of things we'd like to know are. Accommodation 1) Would you consider staying in non resort accommodation on your golf holidays and more specifically in a B&B type establishment? 2) As part of your package, would you prefer B&B or half board or possibly full board if you had a good prepared lunch to take to golf with you? 3) What would you expect facilities wise in your room? 4) Would other facilities would you want to have onsite? Bar? Pool? 5) How important would it be to be close to a resort and what facilities would you want nearby? Would it need to be walkable or is a short drive if you have a car or taxis acceptable? Golf 1) Would you consider playing alternate courses that you may not have heard of before (this is on the assumption that given how many golf courses there are in Spain, we'd find the hidden gems for you but you may not have heard of them)? 2) In terms of golfing, would you prefer to have your holiday inclusive of all extras (i.e. priced to include range tokens, buggies/trolley) or do you prefer to pay for whatever extras you need on the day at the club? 3) When playing in a group, would you like to have your trips accompanied by golfers (i.e. me and the wife) for some local knowledge or would you prefer to just get on with it? (Appreciate this one is quite subjective!) 4) When you holiday, do you always bring your own clubs or do you rent? 5) On your golf holidays, assuming you don't play every day, would you want to have organised excursions on days off and what sort of things would you be interested in? As before, appreciate any input even if you only partially answer as I know there is a lot of questions here but really do value peoples opinions on this so we can work out if what we are looking to do is a viable option.
 2.
United played 442 for 5 minutes and scored, then played the best we've played in yonks.......supporters demanded it just before half time and van gaal responded....well done!
Not really surprised as I mentioned previously that they play better with 4-4-2 so after the first half of nothing using 3-5-2 LVG had to revert as another goalless draw would have been disastrous for United against the likes of QPR. Whilst nobody plays great football every game all season long it's painful watching them play 3-5-2 (bare in mind I'm a Chelsea fan but like watching other teams), awful, awful, awful football !! It's the grinding out the the one and two nills against the QPR's of the prem league week in and week out that gets your CL spot. Using games like that to keep persisting with a formation that doesn't work costs you 2 and occasionally 3 points! On to current stuff though, surprised (even though through a penalty) that arsenal are leading city. Would be a great result for us blues if it ends like that but city are dominating possession so suspect they'll win two or three one. If arsenal win wenger is suddenly a genius to all arsenal fans again
 3. I've heard today's rumour is that United may blow another £150 mill in this transfer window. How much of that is pie in the sky remains to be seen although they did spend big and late in the last window however, will be interested to see if strootman magically appears at old traf and how much van Gaal is willing to pay for him? £50 mil? £60 mil??? Either way it will be well over the odds like di Maria did. I must say scruffynick I'd agree with you on formation. Under Van Gaal they've definitely played their best football playing 4-4-2 like the Utd of old this season and I just cant understand why van Gaal wants to keep reverting back to 3 CB's especially given the holes there at the moment. Every time he does if he seems to throw 3 points down the drain by losing to a much lesser team. Even a rival supporter can't understand the mentality. I think in terms of finish I'm guessing 4th or 5th. I think the saints based on the way they've played this season will take 3rd and arsenal who seem to be picking up might pip Utd to 4th. The scousers won't make any charge as they now seem to be impotent with Suarez gone and sturridges injury ridden season and Spurs aren't consistent enough to pip em either. I guess 4th will 100% guarantee the 'philosophy' continues in Manchester for a while longer but still reckon 5th might be dicey especially if Van Gaal spends big again this month and gets done by arsenal to the last CL spot.

Absolutely love em, tried multiple players irons and it came down to this and the miura 57's which you could barely separate until I thought id smash a few with both. Same 6 iron was 10 yards longer with the apex! SOLD! Best golfing decision I've made, inside 190 yards I just never seem to miss the green with them and my game has been on fire since getting them so much love here
You never miss the green from 190 yards. Fastboy... you are the best, and I mean the best 19 hdcp ever. Congrats!
I don't play comps and just play causal golf with my wife so my handicap never came down after it was originally done. 10 of the last 12 rounds I've played on par 72 have between between 74-78 so I'm clearly not my official number, however, when you're not playing for anything and just counting strokes because you enjoy the game it's just a number.
Wow! Toot my own horn.. Beep beep!!
Sorry for playing good golf after being properly fit for the first time into the irons the op wanted reassurance on and beyond the number I got years ago and didn't make any effort to change. I'll add 10 shots next time I quote scores for you :P
 5.
Well that was truely awful......United are painful to watch now, just utter pants
I'm a Chelsea fan (and have been since the days of Kerry Dixon) so I won't gloss it over for you United guys. I personally think Van Gaal has done an ok job, however I personally feel United are artificially higher in the league then their performance suggests they should be as with a few exceptions most of those games even against much lesser opposition could very easily have gone the other way. Southampton under Koeman are a very difficult side to break down and I'm not particularly surprised they beat United. The minute United come up against a well organised midfield now they're in trouble and just get totally pacified. We all have bad days (s*** we lost 5-3 to Spurs and nobody would have seen that coming) but I reckon your end of season run in *might* get Van Gaal the sack - Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Liverpool in a short period of time right towards the end of the season which could really be the difference between CL or Europa League which I assume might not be enough for the board. Van Gaal was very naive 3 or 4 games back to start openly saying Utd could win the league based on performance and the teams they'd been playing. The other thing that's killed United off was last season and moyes. Nobody fears going to old Trafford anymore as so many teams have beaten them there now. It took Fergie 25 years to build that fear factor but that got smashed to pieces last year as it happened fairly frequently so teams don't fear it anymore much as United fans probably like to think they still do.

 8. That would be great if they could get Hummels and co, but realistically I imagine it will be a quiet summer. Now Strootman says he wants to stay with Roma. I hope United can pen a new deal with De Gea so he doesn't go for cheap to Madrid... The most funny rumour is United being the only team able to afford Messi due to the FFP rules, and he won't go to Madrid If the £500 million is to be believed as the true price tag I don't think even United could afford him with FFP as they still need to balance the books over the course of the year. He's a phenomenal player but nobody is worth that. Look at the biggest transfers in Europe over the years and the fact that £100 mil has never been breached. Is messi worth 5 times that? I don't think so. He's unproven outside of La Liga and plays in a team built around him. Yes he has an unbelievable record but in my mind there's a few telling things from the last few years. When Barca played against Chelsea in the champs league put him against a strong prem league defence and he looks very ordinary. He was also pretty unimpressive at the World Cup If he decides to leave it might be nearer the end of his contract but couldn't see it ever being more then £150 mil.
 9. I have a 2012 BMW M3 coupe which I've had from new. You can fit two sets of clubs in the boot at a real squeeze if you take the drivers out of the bag or drop a seat but one set goes in easily. For me, I need a car that can mainly fit my guitar rig in theoretically as a gigging musician and whilst on a rare occasion I will use it to go to rehearsal / gigs I tend to take the wife's Volvo XC60 which has a huge boot. If we're golfing together again, we tend to go in her car as both sets of clubs and Trolleys fit in the boot without the need to remove drivers. I've had BMW's for about 8 years now but ready for a change, I did actually test drive an Audi S5 on Thursday and that's definitely going to be the new car from May. The boot is much better then the BMW and its a lot more modern inside. I don't do very many miles these days so the S5 will still give me good performance but be a lot cheaper to run then the V8 M3
 10. A lot of this stuff is mental and having the right equipment. The two things that have worked for me was getting properly fitted on the whole bag and reading zen golf. It's a great read and really gets your mind set correct for every shot that you will stand there over any shot with confidence and accordingly hit a lot more fairways, greens and drop more putts. Until a few months ago I had broken 80 twice in my golfing 'career' but knew I realistically had the ability and game to be a low single figure but lacked consistency and would let my head get away from me. Slow play being my biggest bug bear that I get so wound up waiting that I'd have awful rounds. Since the above in the last few months with the right kit and my head in a good place I have broken 80 10 times out of the past 12 rounds (low of 74 and high of 78) so I'd call it smashing through the door
 11. Welcome back Marvin. From one Brit to another do yourself a favour, if you're near Surrey go to precision golf in egham for your fitting. Worth every penny!
 12. If you want low spin and a really boring trajectory I highly recommend the Adams pro mini hybrid with the stock aldila tour green shaft. Funnily enough when I got fit they got me to try the above, x2hot and the ping hybrid and it wasn't even a contest (for me), the Adams absolutely hammered the others for distance, control and spin numbers. I hit a high ball flight so wanted something to bring my ball flight down which this does due to it's very iron like head
 13. Just a curiosity post more then anything Given the phenomenal amount of graphite shafts available these days versus the maybe slightly more limited number of steel shaft types available, I wondered what the advantages / disadvantages would be of either, Assuming the shafts had a similar kick point and the length was the same, would the graphite win based on higher club speed or the steel shaft be more consistent etc Just really interested in opinions more then anything.
 14. Nice! Had back to backs on multiple occasions but never three in a row!
 15. At a club I used to play at there was one hole that had poor drainage and in winter after a wet spell there was nothing more frustrating then hitting the middle of the fairway! You've nailed your drive and you never find it as it literally just buried In the ground. The one time I did find my ball as we saw the smallest section of Whiteness I literally had to dig this thing out by hammering around the ball with an iron!
