  1. no hybrid for me can't stand them should i hardstep a 130R?
  2. Modus 130 stiff - double soft-stepped is where I settled 5 iron through gap wedge have the nippon 125 stiff in the sand and lob I have a 2,3,and 4 iron as well debating the appropriate shafts for them It's the double soft-step that is giving me a little pause before i commit to doing that i guess...run out of shafts i was thinking after the 2i shaft went in the 4 iron ? if that is the right way to think about it? so was wondering /hoping/looking for some wisdom on the best strategy for matching/gapping the 2,3,and 4 iron while maintaining the feel as well as I can really appreciated
  3. congrats on the setup was wondering what drove the xf in the 5 and then the 0311 all the way to 8 iron - did you try the 't' in the 7 and 8 at all or was the extra forgiveness too important to overlook? trying to gather my "mixing" thoughts myself and appreciate
  4. What is your reason for not wanting the 130 S in your long irons? It's the double soft-step that is giving me a little pause before i commit to doing that i guess...run out of shafts i was thinking after the 2i shaft went in the 4 iron ? if that is the right way to think about it? so was wondering /hoping/looking for some wisdom on the best strategy for matching/gapping the 2,3,and 4 iron while maintaining the feel as well as I can really appreciated
  5. 130 s ssx2 5i thru gap Wedge 125 s in sand and lob Have a 2,3 and 4 iron as well Debating appropriate shafts for them Any opinions appreciated
  6. what flight is that on irons that your prefer and have you tried it against the '17 v1x?
  7. what's your view on the X vs the xv?
  8. 130s feels less stout that steelfiber i110 s and quite similar to even a pxi 6.0 (never mind the px) with more height and more spin for me and it loves to go straight tough to argue with these misunderstood shaft this 130 is
  9. The 130 is supposed to be lower spin, but higher launching. Still player dependent, of course. That was my assumption as well, but i have higher spin consistently with 130s vs the 105x - whether it be an 8 or 5 iron higher launch, higher spin - Both of which i want to be clear just wondering what others were finding appreciated
  10. Higher launch and more spin with the 130s than the 105x - both on 8 and 5 iron that is what i should expect, is it not? thanks
  11. Thought I should add a bit of background to the above... I'm generally a high ball hitter, my last session on a launch monitor showed 5 iron launch in the 17°to 18° range, depending on the 5 iron. For the most part, I play weaker lofts (29° or 30° 5 iron), and said test was with a Golden Ram or Mizuno MS-11 with DG shaft; one could (and likely should) compare that to 6 iron results. My spin is in the upper 6k range, and can get up over 7000. This is what had me checking into the 130, the potential of spin reduction. The launch I was seeing last weekend makes it somewhat less attractive. ;) i have a lunch around 15' with a 5 iron - which is why i was drawn to the 130 - i found it gives me More spin than the 105 as well - isn't the more active tip on the 130 supposed to do that or? thoughts?
  12. please keep us updated Hurricanes7 just for reference - what is your ss (6,8 or driver), transititon, release pattern ? i am a low 80's 8 iron, ,medium transition and late release and both the 106x and 130s seems to both handle that well - the 120s was awful for me as well as an aside 85 8 iron, smooth transition, medium release, low ball hitter, with a draw (hook) all the time. i could not find any to demo so i just ordered all of them and put them into heads and took them to the course. I will not demo iron shafts inside, i need to play with them on the course and then figure it out. 105s, 105 s hs1x, 105x, 120s, 120s hx1x, 120x, 120x ss1x, 130s and 130s ss1x. Man i have serious problems, i ordered 9 shafts from Bob at Nippon. Howling love it so what are you down too - there has to be frontrunners? 1st place- 105s 2nd place-105x hs1x 3rd place- 130s ss1x last place- 120s, i hit grounders the 4 wedge shafts are all good so far, 105, 115, 125 and a 130s ss1x. Anyone else have serious issues, because i live in new york and i hit balls yesterday with snow on the ground how do you explain the 105s and then 4 steps stiffer 105x hs1x being #1 and #2? - must feel very different ? just wondering i do find the 105x and 130s are very comparable - just wondering why the 105s you find the best? thanks
  13. your commentary on the xv being better than the pro V (2017) - just wondering which one and in driver distance or ? trying to decide between the v1x and the xv - any insight appreciated
  14. Let me know thoughts on best test candidates for high launch/more spin that i can test vs the 2017 v1x would rather do some apples to apples before i automatically replace my 2015 v1x with a new ball thank you
  15. you have these matches with 130s in your irons, do i have that right? Yes. 103 stiff in the irons all the way through the Gap. The Gap has a 130 wedge in it. I weighed both shafts and the cut weight of the 125 Wedge is about 7-8 grams heavier than the cut weight of the 130 stiff wedge. Different feel to the load as I compared them extensively since some on here are having good luck with the 130s all the way through the set. The 125 Wedge is a smoother load and less overall kick in the tip. I would say it feels like the bend point is high up towards the hands versus in the tip. I don't think I would want the 125 Wedge in my gap though as its more of a full swing club. great feedback - so do you have the 124 w in the sand and the lob then? the point about the tip kick and full swing use makes me wonder if I want it in sand or not - lob for sure i think for knockdowns
  16. Appreciated - thank you But what i would really like is the 2017 versions tested - I am a die hard 2016 v1x player with low launch and low spin that i need my ball to counter The 2017 v1x seems to be the frontrunner - just wanted people's best picks for competition in that high launch/more spin category chrome soft x i understand - srixon xv - any views on the tp5x? thx

  19. Not really. Some folks need higher launch and more spin. That's why the X was made to begin with. Before the urban myth was started that the X was a low spin ball. It's absolutely not. Nor has ever been. Agree on the high launch and more spin -I am one of those that needs that - what 2017 balls do you think best compare to those attributes of the X - wanted to test it fairly - appreciated chrome soft X is a very good comparison .... for me B330S is too with the exception of the soft feel the 330S has.... thank you so chrome soft x and b330s are both great to compare as higher launch/more spin balls - great any views on appropriate - srixon? taylormade tp5x? thanks to all

  22. To me it sounds like your 50/50. Go with whatever weight fits you better and don't look back. The ball speed difference in an 8 iron I would guess is small with minimal distance gains, not to mention I don't believe that should factor in to your decision. Is there one that you have in your hand and feel like your gonna hit it flush and be close to the hole? Agreed and I will problem is, as hurricanes7 so aptly pointed out, the 105 and 130 feel so close - in your hands and through the ball....it's tough going to have a few more sessions to be sure....thanks both of you
  23. Update on my 105x vs 130s test after the 8 iron test, 105x was leading - hold off left, apex, ballspeed, dispersion all close to 130s, but had the feel edge on smoothness and ease through impact but initial 5 iron test today - will do more, but the 130s stole the show - STRAIGHT plus ballspeed, loft, apex, dispersion 105x i found i was losing right in the 5 iron for some reason ...? more work with the 5 irons, but overall i would say the 130s is now the frontrunner - we'll see. Any thoughts or advice welcome
