  1. I just got a G30 3H, its only ten off a G20!
  2. My bag is a dog's breakfast of used clubs that I have picked up as I needed. Exception being the irons which were a used set I picked up en masse after falling in love with a wedge I had gotten previously.
  3. I could sell you my old original generation metal Spalding Top Flite 3 and 5 woods. Heads on those look only slightly bigger that a current hybrid. I can no longer hit those clubs because the shafts are so whippy, and just today I got a Ping i20 3 wood. Doesn't look abnormally large to me, and it was instant love from the first ball strike
  4. Currently on TaylorMade's web site, some head covers...
  5. Interesting! That is much more rigorous than just reading the label. Went back and checked and found a rating on the 3 wood, the 5 wood has the label wrapped over it. They are "mediums". Not sure how that translates to regular and stiff but it's something to go on for more research e. further research suggests that medium = mature/senior flex, which is why I probably cannot hit them for the life of me, but hook the heck out of them. Off to try some new woods
  6. The best irons I have owned. I don't want to say its impossible to hit a clunker but they are so consistent. Since this picture was taken I added a lob wedge (58*) Glide in stealth, looks fancy. Now I need to get new fairway woods/hybrids to complete the bag, not sure where to start with that though.
  7. I have some True Temper Lite shafts on my original metal Spalding Top Flight fairway woods, and I can no longer hit them at all. How can I determine their actual stiffness, since I cannot see any indication on the label itself
  8. I've been enjoying the Thursday night men's league at River's Edge this summer (when it hasn't rained), so thanks again for the tip! The course is really growing on me. Last Thursday I had a late tee time, so I took a lesson from Kim and have to say I dig his style. My balance was pretty badly distributed and he got me set up better. He also taught a power grip that already has me hitting lower and further. I then cashed a rain cheque and played a quick nine--in an hour and fifteen minutes. Had dinner, then my league 9. That one took 3 hours. :swoon:
  9. You aren't kidding. Some of those fairways are downright difficult to see from the tees. A deceptive course and pretty fun to try to figure out. My game was awful tonight (not helped by 50 kph gusts that really held the balls up), but we were in a scramble and still managed a stroke away from winning something. Fun time! Nice being outside again without my ski gear on, and got matched with three pretty nice guys who have played together the past 3 that asked me to join in for the rest of the season so that was nice.
  10. How were the conditions (other than fantastic weather)? I hope the rain holds off until we are done tonight. I look forward to playing this course, I hear both 9s are very different in character, and nobody I spoke with could decide which was better.
  11. LOL. Yeah, I know. My Mother lives across the street. Let me be the first to ask, I'm looking to get a round in this weekend. Anyone else looking for a warm body to fill out a foursome? I played enough golf last year by "myself" I hear you. I will be in for other weekends but I also have my first match on Thursday and two times in a week is a bit much for my schedule. A scramble, have not done one of those in forever!
  12. Better. I had no idea that shaft torque could be contributing to a lack of control before coming here. After testing a lot of different clubs and shafts, my shots are going where I aim.
  13. Just got an email, River's Edge set to open this weekend
  14. BTW, I didn't reply to this before but I would be up for the odd WRXCalgary outings here and there to see what the area has to offer. Since I've been back to golf I have played mostly a couple of munis (Shaganappi and McCall Lake) and Inglewood and I know there is a lot more quality to be had. I loved Inglewood but I was surprised how much I liked Shaganappi for what and where it is. I'm open to anything. Shaganappi, McCall Lake, and Maple Ridge as city courses. Lakeside in Chestermere and the Strathmore golf course are nice and less expensive and with Groupon. Last year I played 21 rounds total on the following courses: GlenEagles Strathmore Brewsters (Kananaskis) Glencoe Lakeside Greens McCall Lake Shaganappi Silverwing Mckenzie Meadows Blue Devil Inglewood Springbank Links Sirocco Cool how is GlenEagles? I drive by it regularly and it looks like a fun links style course if a bit short. I have a buddy whose a member at Earl Grey and from the functions I have attended there I would love to give it a go if I could get access.
