One could go from a 26 to a 20 with some short game and putting work. > the exact reason my game fell apart. I would love when i was 50m in and every putt regardless of length i knew it would either go in or close. No i couldnt putt from 3ft to a 1ft hole and couldnt chip my way out of a wet paper bag!
  2. Also no I don't want to get clubs again in 6 months (very un Golf WRX of me i know)
  3. Bit of a different one. am going to change irons and go the correct way of getting fit. Am getting lessons also and working on my flaws. Am currently playing off 26 but was as low as 20 but due to the no practise and just playing I've let myself game slide, unfortunately. Am going to get an iron fitting and keep working on my swing. My question is do I get fit for irons for my handicap today (so something like 919 Hot Metal) or do I get fit for an iron better suited to a 20 HCP which is what I'm working on getting back to (aim is to be off 18 by Xmas with lessons and practising more)
  4. Think I'm just going to get fit and order it in. By the time I spend the 150 having them re gripped and lengthend I'm not that much worse off. Appreciate everyone's input
  5. > @Jc0 said: > S300 is a lot softer than the 6.5, but I think you may be ok. Your swing speed is in a range where they may work out for you. My main aim is to bring my flight down. Will this also be benefited by the 6.5?
  6. Ok so here's the run down Currently play 718 AP1 .5 inch over with S300 with upright lie. Was getting 1.35 smash last week. Hit some mizuno hot metals and loved them. .5 inch over and got my shash up to 1.43 Have found a set of brand new ones for sale with precision 6.5 standard length shafts in them. Very cheap for brand new. If I was to extend these (yes they will now become 1 degree up so win there) will this make the shaft play softer? Is an S300 alot softer then the precision 6.5? I understand 6.5 is lighter but flex is the question. Swing speed with my 7i is 89 to 91mph off trackman from 1 week ago.
  7. Hey all, just wondering if there is some feedback on the Exotics gear in general. I have done a search and read plenty of small reviews including the Q&A but just wondering how everyone's gear has held up, any warranty issues? Is the gear still as good as it was? What are you playing and whos place in the bag it took. Just after honest opinions and how many clubs people tried but actually bought. Also anyone gaming there improvement irons what would you say they are equal to look wise? Hoping to get a good look this week at the gear and my ego is saying "stick with a big brand" but my game is saying "help me anyway you can and stop being a bit#h" Thanks in advance.
  8. couldn't disagree more. Golf I feel is a game of confidence. Knowing he is putting well and can put in a good Sunday I feel it will be the complete opposite.
  9. so if i use game improvement irons with a driver and putter not using any of the above clubs ill be off scratch in a week! I CANT WAIT!!!!
  10. Well! This guy has now got f9 woods in his titleist bag, a Lajosi putter and uses a srixon ball. I was sick of not getting the most out of my game and I tried a set of woods for a day and instantly noticed a difference. Srixon ball I'll be honest was so cheap and was only going for a mid week wack and didn't mind it and I thought if I'm mixing it up may as well use a beautiful putter I don't get to use. However I have ordered a set of matching plain head covers to not have my woods stand out also to help me not feel awkward and Im using a plain non branded bag also. First comp this weekend will be interesting how I go!
  11. I wonder how much companies range comes into play when choosing a club contract if any? If you look at Callaway for example they have ample range, 3 drivers, woods, so many putters, so many irons etc. Taylormade seem to pretty much just build you what they want and add there logo. Titleist has minimal range I feel personally (I play titleist so not bashing) Ping is starting to really broaden there wings and I feel we will start to see them alot more. Pxg, srixon, cobra etc have alot smaller range and i feel unless they find someone happy with everything in there range they are always going to struggle. All these manufacturers seem to really push the stats more then the players I feel. How many times you see a "1 ball on tour" "1 driver, putter etc" is pretty much stating they pay the most to have that status.
  12. I know this is a question that won't really have a true answer as I don't know if anyone will actually know contract prices but I was just reading about Patrick Read changing to a srixon ball. A comment was "does he not have a deal due to his personality or because he doesn't want one" It got me thinking. Does he not have a deal as he knows with everything he wants in the bag he has a chance to win every week. And if this is the case let's say he wins once and makes 1 million. I Imagine this would be more then he would get paid by any manufacturer??? If he did have a contract deal how much would he get paid a year? Would it be enough to make him not have to win every week? I don't want this to turn into a Patrick bash fest. Everyone has there opinion about him and your all entitled to. This isn't about the player it's about earnings.
  13. Don't agree with this one at all. I have a dedicated club for sand shots in the bag and I might go into the sand once a game if that.
  14. I'll always remember what Tiger said when asked about testing new equipment. He said something to the effect of, 'I only test new equipment when I'm comfortable with my swing.' In essence, if his swing is off, the idea of replacing clubs is off the table. That's good practice for everyone. Selecting a club because you're struggling with something related to (basic) technique is exactly how ho'ing gets started. Guys who put 640 wedges in the bag (i.e. a few Pros) are not doing it because they struggle with their short games. Quite the opposite! They're high-level wedge players. So focus on steadying the ship and trust that traditional lofts will work just fine once you get things working. If you're worried about technique, do yourself a favor and ignore the equipment forum for awhile until you get things sorted out. I carry a 600 because it's handy around the greens but I'd be the first to tell you that even 600 is far from being a requirement. I use it because I'm confident with it. I would always push a less confident player to use a Gw or Sw and execute a more basic shot. Thanks so much this makes alot of sense and is something i needed to hear! Appreciate your feed back
  15. Don't mean to be insulting. I'm going to be honest and to the point. You shouldn't be concerned with getting to 14 clubs based on your description above. I know players who use less than 14 and they are fine. Stop obsessing until you actually need a 14th club. You need to learn to play better. Is that not the goal? As you point out, there's a lot of opportunity to get better around the green. So work on basic chipping and pitching with your 530 until you can begin to get up and down. If the 530 is too much loft, try out your Aw. This isn't a question of clubs. You need to develop more skill. Completely agree. Am also currently getting lessons and work on my chipping alot. ATM as I have a 48 AP1 and yesterday I went to a 53 AP1 (will be putting my 54 sm7 back in) I found it to be terrible to get the height and stopping power easily. I have always played a 50, 54, 58 until I switched to titlesit as I wanted an easier top of the bag. I feel this is my undoing. Now I have to use my swing alot more to work my distances and this is where I am uncomfortable.
  16. Sorry for not the actual reply to each post just thought I would summaries So today I played and used my f9 4 wood for my punch out shots. this worked so well. I played terrible just wasn't my day. Had 23 points with 9 wipes. Quick break down of my round Had 4 3 putts Picked up on 2 holes From 50m in I did not get up and down once From 50m in I did not chip on once For my 180-210m shots I used my f9 6 wood and either just knocked it down or full swing. It worked great So now I don't really need a 1 iron for our punch outs but God I need help around and on the green :( Putting crap, chipping terrible, bump and runs were crap and at least 5 duffs. BUT I HAD ALOT OF FUN
  17. If you don't want those numbers called out you might.........never mind, those numbers are going to get called out :-). PGA average in 2017 was 172 yards with a smash factor of 1.33. They did not achieve a 1.45 smash until a three iron. 20 yards further than the tour but a HC of 6?????????? Whatever I'm a 24 handicaper. When I was off 28 I had i500 irons I hit my i500 ping irons when I had them at a fitting prior to changing to AP1. All standard loft. Average 7 iron carry was 180 yards (165m) and average smash factor of 1.44 Before you go and blast me for having them numbers and being off now 22 I can't hit a long club and my short game sucks. I went the AP1 as I can actually hit that 5 iron and am working on my short game. My brother in-law hits a 7 iron 170m and never has under 1.4 smash and plays off 10. Some people are great through the whole bag and some are not. We're definitely not betting...a 22 hdcp claiming he's a 24 :) Huh??
  18. Hey need some opinions please. Current bag driver 4 wood 6 wood 1 iron - club in question 5-AW 53 58 Putter I have a tmb 1 iron that I purely use for in the trees (spend more time there then the greens). I feel like it's such a waste. But a 5 iron ap1 gets quiet high quiet quickly so knock outs are not the easiest (I'm sure I can work on this though) So my question is do I get a 4 driving iron that will fill that 190m spot in my bag and still five me a lower club for the trees (again may have issues with the height straight up) Or do I drop the one iron and change wedges to 53, 60, 64 I'm leaning towards option A. If you agree is there a forgiving DI you would recommend that can be used as a full club but also a knock out monster!!
  19. Hey this is what I game in woods then have a 1 iron (purely for knock outs) then 5 onwards. I'm looking at swapping the 2 iron for something else but. Do you find your DI and 7 wood to go the same distance? Or just have both for different shots?

I think this may be why actually?
