  1. 1. City, State? Pittsburgh, Pa2. Handicap? +0.83. Current Iron set? 2020 Titleist t300 4-pw (4 sm8 vokey wedges with this set because of gapping), or Mizuno MP18 blades 3-pw..... titleist for fun and scrambles, mizuno for serious golf....4. Are you right-handed or left-handed? Right handed5. Why do you want to review the Takomo 201 irons? I've heard about them and I'm interested in the brand. I've played a lot of these style players forged irons from Taylormade 750, Titliest t100, callaway apex forged etc. Not a big fan of the in-between of forgiveness and workability. I have 2 different sets I play currently at the extreme ends depending on if its for fun or tournaments and how I'm swinging.6. Do you agree to participate in an ongoing testing thread, posting reviews and photos? Absolutely, I've done a lot of pre-launch testing at my club etc.
  2. Not sure why you think other companies have to catch up to PXG for irons...... Mizuno, Titleist, Callaway, Taylormade, Ping and a bunch more or way further advanced in technology and design than PXG. Just because they charge more doesn't mean they are half as good in quality or design.....
  3. Thanks bro, I'm thinking I like the DG 120 HS S300 option. I was on the phone with TM and they said the DG120 is lower launch and spin than the c-taper 120. That sounds off to me.
  4. Hi All, I'm trying to decide between these 2 and can't find much information for a direct comparison besides the dg 120 being low launch and spin. I got fitted for the dg 120 s300 hard step or x100 soft step. I've played the c-taper 120 x and they were a little too low and low spin for me. I got a little crazy and switched to the AMT black s300 (long story I ordered the wrong color, thought I was ordering the whites....) last year, I hit the ball crazy high and too much spin, especially into the wind. I can't find a place to hit and try these now, had to wait 2 months just for a 20 min fitting..... and the fitter was clueless to say the least. Just a bad time to try and get really dialed in. I'm just looking the general differences between these two shafts and if possible the difference between hard stepping the s300 vs soft stepping the x100. I'm older, driver chs 112, 6 iron carry 195 with a super high ball flight, moderate tempo. Thanks for any help you can provide
  5. were you at Olympic? They usually have the head taped -_-. *I think I misunderstood your comment and assumed you were in Carlsbad. I haven’t been out there in years
  6. I'm sure they will, this shortage won't last forever and they will be going back to grey marketing clubs.
  7. So this is very disappointing, I just got off the phone with the taylormade service rep and they said the est. time was wrong. No one will get these until earliest sept.2. Totally not cool, so I cancelled my order.
  8. I ordered mine around 7am this morning est time. Maybe there are a lot of pre-orders and the timeframe got longer. Mine still says 7/20
  9. Yup, you can hit the pic and hit customize. The dates will change based on the shaft availability.
  10. Forgot to add, I called the rep up before placing order. They have available shafts just for this p790 launch. I was nervous not seeing what these things look like before ordering but the rep said very similar to current. I was fitted for the p770 because the taylormade rep said I hit the ball to far with my irons and gapping was off from my 52 sm8 to the p790 PW. The P770 looks great but frankly I'm older and want the forgiveness. I've never bought a set of clubs unseen before, kinda exciting and scary at the same time.
  11. I just ordered mine this morning, says shipping 7/20. 4-pw with x100. Hopefully, I don't have to cancel if any weird shipping delays happen.
  12. Titleist fittings like every other fitting from the manufacturer is hit of miss. I've had some very bad fittings including this year where I ended up explaining how to fit myself (or anyone) to the Titleist fitter that had been on the job for a year. I would tend to trust a fitting center a lot more than the manufacturers. Either way you need to get fitted multiple times before you buy anything, you want to take the average not a one day one hit wonder session. Or do like most people buy and pray or adapt to the equipment.
  13. They (my private club) and I would put a 9 iron in your bootyhole if you played music on our course. It’s an old school mentality and one I really like at my club. We take our hats off when dining inside and are polite to each other, it’s why I joined there. When I’m at a public course I suffer through it, I don’t like it but it’s my choice to play a public place. Music is not for the golf course, the game is hard enough without something messing my tempo and concentration up.
  14. City and State (US Only): Pittsburgh, Pa Handicap: +2.8 Current Irons: Callaway Rogue Pros 4-PW with kbs c-taper 130 x Favorite Feature of the New P790 irons: supposed forgiveness and I like the look If selected, do you agree to participate in a review thread? We would ask you provide hi-res, quality photos, and provide a review of the clubs? I would agree to all that and think I’m a perfect tester for these irons. I’m always fitted to blades but hate them. I also have a pretty good following on Instagram
  15. There are 4 short par 4's on this high-end public course I play at when I'm not at my club. They range from 300-340yds from the back, I can drive all 4. When I can I always let the guys in front know that on these holes I will generally hit it close to them and yell real loud if I know I'm getting close. If I don't know them I'll just layup short or I'll make sure to miss away from them. This happens all the time on par 5s, people ask me why I layup when I clearly can go for the green, I don't care. I don't get paid millions to hit shots, I don't even care if it is a match, I'm not holding people up. Under no circumstance do I wait around on 8 holes (including par 5s) for me to hit shots unless I'm playing a tourney. This weekend we played there, on the first hole it was 380 yds and I was just 30 yds from the green and I noticed those guys get a little antsy. I came up to them after they putted and asked them if they would just watch out on a couple of holes for me to hit from the tee box as I hit it a little long. Hole 12 is 310 yds all carry over water, they waived me from the green, I hit it to 15ft from the hole. We never held anyone up and finished in under 3hr 30mins which was longer than I usually play. I also drove another green like this, they were real cool about this and understood why I didn't want to hold anyone up but didn't want to intrude on them as well. I explained that while I hit it really far I'm less than 20% to hit the green. I didn't want to back the course up or rush them. Great group of guys and we actually hung out in the club house and had a good time afterwards. Communication is the key and making people aware of not causing a delay alleviates a lot of issues.. It's the same thing with me walking ahead. People love playing with me because I'm usually way ahead of them and in the fairway, I walk and find their balls and keep everyone moving. For instance, on one of the holes I drove an old guy in the group hit it into the bunker. I went to the bunker got the rake and raked it for him after his shot, then proceded to the green. It took me about 5 secs to see the line 5 secs to hit my putt. I don't stand around wasting time or making people wait for me to hit shots.
