  2. The Gs are great and I'm a fan of their many positive attributes, but I'm smitten with my Eye2s and ISis right now. They're just as reliable and forgiving with a touch of playability added into the mix...
  3. My irons are pretty unorthodox: G400 24 degree 5 w/Alta CB stiff graphite G400 27 degree 6 & 30 degree 7 w/AWT 2.0 stiff steel i200 35 degree 8, 40 degree 9, 45 degree PW, & 50 degree UW w/Project X 5.5
  4. I like having matched wedges for the same look/feel. Specialty wedges are fine, but I find that I'm more consistent with matched...
  5. I started right around the same time (1996) and my "old school" irons were built in 1984. Those are still significantly a recent release considering what guys on the Classic forum play on a weekly basis...
  6. I've played Cleveland before but we just don't get along...
  7. 22* Callaway Steelhead XR hybrid w/HZRDUS Project X graphite 24* G400 5 iron w/Alta CB graphite 27*/30* G400 6 & 7 irons w/AWT 2.0 steel 35*/40*/45*/50* i200 8 - UW w/Project X 5.5 steel Pretty strange combo set right there...
  8. The stuff that blew me away this year was the stuff from yesteryear: 2006 PING Rapture, 1998 Callaway Hawk Eye, and 1984 Eye2. Not even my "modern" bag comes close...
  9. I played yesterday with an OG Rapture driver (2006) @ $120, Hawk Eye 5 & 7 woods (1998) @ $70, Eye2 irons (1984) @ $125 (1984), Eye2 XG LW @ $50 (2010), and original Anser X putter (1996?) @ $50 so much BETTER than what I have been playing with the bag featured below. Money doesn't matter one bit in this game...
  10. I'm no cheapskate, but my three sets probably cost less than a $2000 (your numbers) iron set just because I purchased when the time was right and the market was in my favor. I would say that a $2000 iron set is a limit I would never cross...
  11. Late to this party but wanted to chime in anyway. My adjustable G400 Max is only 45" with both shafts (PING Tour 65 stiff and Aldila NVS NXT 65 stiff). My OG Rapture is 45 1/2" with an Aldila VS Proto By You stiff. I hit both about the same distance but definitely see more pop and potential with the OG Rapture...
  12. My most expensive putter is sitting at about $90 all in (new grip, length & lie adjustment). I putt better with this one than I did with my most expensive one (PING PLD 1) because it just fits my eye that much better. As jomatty said, rossie's (and other cheap putters) are legit...
  13. The original PING Anser Forged wedges beat any Vokey wedge IMO. Lots of feedback and very responsive. I sold mine like a true GolfWRX idiot and have regretted it ever since...
  14. Eye2 PW = 50.5* & Eye2 XG LW = 58* (2* strong)
  15. The rules of golf from the fools of golf are just that...
  16. These are rather popular opinions...
  17. I've never owned the fairway woods but do have the driver. It's not the longest but it's definitely one of the straightest drivers I've ever hit...
  18. I had a 12.5 at one time and remember that the finish was pretty thin on it...either that or it simply didn't adhere to the aluminum well. That said, I certainly remember it flaking off in unexpected places even though it always had a headcover on it when not in use. I sent it out for a refinish and then sent it on into the 'bay for someone else's enjoyment. No regrets...
  19. I've got some stuff that has to go and I hope you'll want what I no longer need. Minimalist set (RAM FX Pro-Set irons 3/21*, 5/28*, 7/36*, 9/44*) along with a minty Cleveland 588 RTG 56* sand wedge with excellent patina. The set even comes with a Sun Mountain Sunday bag. What's not to like? $200/shipped OBO 12* PING G10 driver @ 45.5" with PING TFC 129D stiff flex shaft. Head was refinished by Continental Golf. New Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 grip + a knit PING headcover. $200/shipped OBO 57.5* PING Eye2 sand wedge that still has a ton of life left in it. Grooves are good. Black dot lie angle. ZZ Lite shaft. $50/shipped OBO 16.5*/20* Callaway Big Bertha Warbird fairway woods refinished by Continental Golf. Shafts are Memphis "10". New Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips. $100/shipped OBO
  20. This. It's not too problematic: Tell the shop and they'll do the right thing...
  21. Here is what the refinished set looks like...
  22. I've owned a lot of brands (RAM, Wilson, Cobra, Nike, Titleist, Callaway, TaylorMade, PING, Mizuno, Tour Edge, Cleveland, etc.) since 1996 and have settled into a mostly PING bag. We like what we like and it doesn't matter what others prefer. It's your choice...
  23. 35" length Face-balance No neck Reasonably rounded bumpers Softened edges Sightline (either top rail or flange) 330 - 350 gram head weight 69* lie angle Matte/muted finish Little/no stamping GP Pro Only Red Star grip
  24. I just snagged another set of Patent Pending Eye2s off the 'Bay. My guess is they were built in '83 or '84 but won't know for sure until I get in touch with CS at PING. Looking forward to having them refinished and put into play...
  25. Too bad they're backwards, but the dog is just the thing to make me forget about it...
