  1. Was playing a 21 deg nike sumo hybrid, just replaced it with a speedzone 5 wood and life has been good
  2. I don't know if this counts as a knockoff, but I bought some Golf Pride MCC's from ebay from a reputable seller, but when I got them, they had the gasoline smell (tell-tale sign of a fake). I emailed GP and reported the seller. I tossed them in the garage and forgot about them, eventually had an urgent need to regrip one of my wedges, put them on and ended up liking them better than the real thing. Will have to start the grip search again once they die since I won't support fakes.
  3. Hey all, Was wondering if anyone has attempted a blended set from different OEMs? I recently purchased some blueprints and was planning to blended it with i210's for the 4 and 5 iron. However, I'm finding that it's hard to convince my wife to let me buy more after having spent so much on the blueprints. I Was planning to sell my 585/785 blended set, but part of me is wondering if I can keep the 4 and 5 iron of the 585's, adjust lofts, and hold onto them. Has anyone else had success blending irons from different OEMs?
  4. Sorry one last question, golfworks doesn't designate which universal ping ferrule fits with the blueprint. There is a 0.520 OD and a 0.510 OD. Is anyone aware of which of these would be the correct size for the BPs? Thanks again.
  5. I apologise about my own lack of knowledge on this subject, but can't seem to find this information on Ping's website. Will blueprints fit 0.355" shafts or 0.370"? I was hoping to transplant a set of 0.355" tapered shafts over, but didn't know if they would fit. Thank you!
  6. The accursed tax man...best of luck on your sale, if I had the guts to get permission from my wife, I'd buy this in a heartbeat.
  7. Hello all, I apologize if this topic has already been covered, but I couldn't find my answer through the search function. Is a stock driver shaft or fairway wood shaft the same shaft for all length woods but just cut at different lengths? For instance, if I wanted a certain shaft for a 5 wood, but I could only find the stock shaft at 3 wood length, do I just cut the butt down to the 5 wood length? Also, as an aside, if I am trying to achieve a "standard" 41.5" length for a 5 wood, does that include the adaptor, or is that just the shaft length minus the adaptor? Thank you!
  8. UTX as it is currently is the holy grail for me
  9. Gotcha, that makes sense. Still seems kinda one dimensional to only focus on the little sliders, almost makes me feel like I could be a fitter with my limited knowledge base.
  10. Question about golftec fittings..so I was watching a golftec fitting on youtube, and they were using this numeric scale for the irons that looked at launch angle, ball speed, land angle. The guy that was getting fit had a pretty steep land angle (which is a good thing in my opinion), but they were working really hard to decrease land angle to improve his overall distance (despite his 7 iron carry being around 190). They had these little sliders with colors, and they were trying to get the sliders to "green" which signify maximized conditions for distance. His slider for land angle was too far right (steep), so they were trying to flatten it to make it green. Forgive my ignorance, but doesn't that seem like a counterproductive thing?
  11. Gotcha, would give up a few yards to not have them. Don't know why, they just dont suit my eye..
  12. Drooling... Just wondering why the need for turbulators when they took them away for the wood and hybrid...
  13. I agree they feel like ProV1, and the cover isn't bad. I have used the same 8 balls as practice bay balls for probably 3 months, hundreds of swings on each of them, they only just exploded on me yesterday. However, heard so many good things about MTB and about to run out of my last batch of new Vice Pro's, so I might just give them a try.
  14. I have had success with the Vice Pro, but wanted a harder and higher spinning ball, but these emails are definitely confusing me a bit. I may try Snell MTB-X instead of the pro plus.
  15. So...got another response, someone help me translate this.. Here's my email: "Thanks for the reply. I apologise if I have this wrong, but if the pro plus is akin to a ProV1x, shouldn't the pro plus compression be higher than the pro? Thank you." Here's the response: "Yes, that is correct. It is the other way around for those two. But most of our Vice Pro customers were Pro V1 users, same as our Pro Plus customers, they were previous Pro V1x users. We also have a ball recommender option in our website to guide you which Vice ball might best fit your gameplay. Please see link below."
  16. I was curious as to the compressions of Vice Pro vs Vice Pro Plus as there was some conflicting information online. I emailed Vice and got an interesting response. "Thanks for the message. Here are some information. Compression rates: VICE DRIVE - 90 Overall compression VICE TOUR- 90 Overall compression VICE PRO - 95 Overall compression VICE PRO PLUS - 85 Overall compression VICE PRO SOFT - 65 Overall compression Comparable to; Drive is comparable to DT Solo Tour is comparable to NXT Tour Pro is comparable to ProV1 Pro Plus is comparable to ProV1x Pro Soft/Soft Hue is comparable to AVX Please don't hesitate to contact us for further concerns. Kind regards, John CUSTOMER CARE" Now correct me if I'm wrong, but if Pro Plus is comparable to ProV1x, shouldn't the compression value be higher than the pro? Thanks!
  17. Didn't need a fitting at all. I just asked them if I could try it, took a few practice swings, and then they made me do 3 analyzed swings which is where the averages come from. Really useful information, and makes me feel much more comfortable about my shaft choice. Also important to note, the top choices tend to prefer Mizuno's preferential custom shaft options, so it may not feature all brands.
  18. Just to play devils advocate.. I previously played Modus 120, thought I loved it, and in my mind there was nothing better. I took some shots of my swing with it, and found that it was flexing in a suboptimal way as it was releasing too early (Picture #1). I went to the PGA superstore and used the Mizuno Shaft Optimizer (for 7 iron), and I picked the KBS $-taper from the top choices (Picture #2). Now if you look at my swing, at the same point of the downswing, it seems to be flexed in a more optimal position. As an aside, I play the z785's and they are fantastic. I had a stint with the 919 forged, and hands down, z785 feel better, but to each their own.
