  2. Connections? No. The only connection I see is that you were both there at the same time and were standing pretty close to each other. A cool coincidence. I think it's a funny story, which is why I remembered it. I think it's great you're playing so well this year and hope you keep it up.
  3. Year 2000 Tiger used the 975D and I believe David Duval used the 962 irons to shoot his 59. ;) Great clubs and they bring back memories when I used to play them. The main reason I bought this Driver is a pretty good story. In 2001 (I think) I was at the memorial. On hole 6 or so we were in the left rough when John Daly hit his driver over our heads and into the tree line. A group of 6-8 of us surrounded his ball to mark it for him. He came sauntering up as only John Daly does, gets to his ball with driver still in hand, and proceeds to hand his driver to the guy just to the right of me and
  4. SmiterOfPv1x That was it! I think Smiter is back under a new username- there's a new poster with stories similar to Smiter. Only he doesn't claim to hit it far. But they both love to golf with their kids, they both worked one year as an assistant pro a long time ago, both carry an old Ping Eye 2 driver in addition to their regular driver, and both of them mention that they used to own a grocery store. And they both write these long, detailed posts. Not sure if I should name the new username in case it's not him.
  5. Yeah, I read the forums almost everyday. Rarely get the urge to post, though.
  6. I've been on the green when that's happened, and while initially I may have jumped a little bit my playing partners and I congratulated the guy on a great shot. No one got upset. The other guy should have done that, too. If you can drive a green on a par four you are a Smiter. Was the ball a ProV1x? And do you happen to also be a former long drive competitor?

It is a sweet feeling, sounding, very consistant club FWIW and does fit nice between my 4W and driver with an average t

  10. Another one of these threads? I'm sorry, I don't know you either, but your posts do come off as arrogant and you do seem to be bashing the guy, even though you claim you're not. I know he's wrong, but I'm willing to overlook it as this was the common way of thinking for however many years and I have no idea when this book was written. I also have no idea if this teacher still teaches this or if he's familiar with the "new laws" at all. I'm not taking lessons from him, so it doesn't bother me one bit. However, reading yet another post on the same topic has me coming out of my usual lurking

  12. Which area are you moving to? There's a good many places to practice at. Riverside that Bend of the River mentioned also has a 9 hole par 3 course, but it wasn't in great shape when I played it last (that's been about 2 years ago). Par Tee Driving range in West Columbia is nice, but no short game area. In Lexington is a new driving range/par 3 called The Caddyshak that I hear is pretty nice. Also Weed Hill Driving Range in Irmo and the Lake Murray golf center. There's another range near downtown that I can't remember the name of. And every course has a driving range and most have a shor
  13. I've ordered from them several times with no problems, usually personalized balls. This last time I ordered an I-mix head and shaft about a week before the price drops. By the time I had received them, there were rumors on this site of the price drops and I was kicking myself for having to order it so soon. But after the price drops went into effect, I chatted with their online support and got a refund to my credit card equal to the difference. This was a week after the original order. No hassle at all, didn't ask any questions except wanted the order #. Will definitely buy from them aga
  14. hillster, I've watched Hardy's DVD set. In it he states that in a correct one plane swing you will feel like you're coming over the top. I can't remember in which section he addresses this, but I want to say it's near the end. I remember that because I always strived to not feel like I'm coming over the top, just like you. So it sounds like you are doing it correctly. And I wouldn't argue with your results! Hope this helps.
  15. My wife and I played the Moon Palace course in March. The course was in great shape. It's expensive, but I can't remember exactly how much since it was part of our vacation package. Another couple we played with one of the days also played at Playacar Palace, and they enjoyed it. There were a lot of trees down in the jungle, but the course itself was in great shape. I think all of the courses there have had enough time to recover.
