  1. I've had packages say delivered and it doesn't show up until a few days later. Give it a little time. I've worked for the postal service. Its amazing anything arrives on time.
  2. 1. City and State? Fresno California 2. Handicap? 10-14 depending on time constraints 3. What ZX iron set do you want to test? ZX7s 3. Are you able to test equipment on a golf course with one week of its receipt? Yes 4. Current Iron setup? Bridgestone J15 DPF w/ DG Pro stiff flex 5. What is the most exciting thing about the ZX irons? There's nothing better than Japanese forgings 6. Do you agree to participate in an ongoing testing thread, posting reviews and photos? Yes Had a set of 765s that were amazing but the 130 gram shaft wasn't the best fit to m
  3. Ill give that IG a follow. Looks like there could be some very constructive content. I just thought it was interesting that re-centering is in vogue now. I used to move off the ball a bit and re-centered but there were days where the timing wasn't there and my low point control would suffer. Iteach told me to stay more centered to help with the week to week consistency. My own biases makes me cringe a bit when I see it but I'm sure skilled golfers have no problem making that move on consistent basis.
  4. Love Dana's live lessons. There's always pieces of gold hidden in them if you know what to look for. What do you guys think of the small lateral movement off the ball he appears to be teaching these days? I prefer the more centered approach.
  5. Don't have an official handicap but I've noticed my last 20 rounds are trending down. Admittadely, short game is my biggest weakness and hitting more GIR is surely helping. Nothing crazy, maybe 2-3 strokes over 6 months.
  6. Same thing happened to me. Started off hitting it really well but than I started hitting huge pulls with a few shanks sprinkle in there. Filmed a few swings. Seems like if I focus exclusively on arm movements in the backswing my hips do not turn at all. I'm pretty flexible and suspect I can get to the 8 position with very minimal hip turn. Getting good extension in the backswing has always been an issue I've had to monitor so thinking no turn may not be optimal "for me".
  7. Been lurking around this thread since it was started. Purchased Efficient Swing over Thanksgiving and Finally grabbed NTC last night before the black friday deal expired. I love Monte's videos because I always pick up little nuggets to tweak my swing here and there. I had already been working on cast A for over a year now but cast B is something I need to incorporate as I am prone to handle dragging. Also, the 8pm position feels like my knockdown shot so that leads me to believe I have some arm overrun. NTC teaches the modern swing in a very simplified way. I'm going to recommend it to my bud
  8. Was a member of Gankas's first member site. Moves are absolutely compatible IMO. Gankas prefers you use his legwork to get you in the relaxed band position. I prefer using the hand and wrist movements to shallow. To each their own. Purchased Monte's NTC video last night and it also teaches very similar movements imo. Seems like the majority of modern instruction is taking different routes but arriving at the same destination.
  9. I learned the game using an interlock grip. After a few years, I developed pain in my pinky and switched to the Vardon grip and have been using it longer then I can remember. This year, I've made another tweak to my grip in an attempt to become more neutral. Previously I had a VERY strong grip similar to Zach Johnson's. I've reduced having 4 knuckles exposed on the left hand to 2 1/2 to 3 knuckle. The right hand is also more on top of the club.
  10. I hit some nasty low hooks for a period. Did my do diligence and figured out what was causing me too get stuck. You can't drop the right shoulder down if you're going to shallow. If one is going to shallow then they need to have a good understanding of what match ups are required. Once I understood that I had to balance the steepening and shallowing elements in my swing I was back on track. So the wrists or leg work shallows the club and the right shoulder staying high and moving out brings it back on plane.
  11. This is exactly what I was going to post. OP, Lead knee works too much towards the trail in the backswing and there is no separation in the transition and downswing. I suspect it causes the hang back spin out look at impact. Lead knee should work more towards the ball as opposed to away from it. Stick with Dan. He is a great communicator and you'll come away knowing a lot more about your swing in the long run. He told me that I recovered very well from the position I got into in the backswing but my consistency would suffer. He was spot on. Some days I could stripe it and oth
  12. I had the exact same problem when I first started working with DC. My trail knee would actually increase in flex causing my tilts to be way off and my head to move down and to the right. Like others have said, it's easier to tell from a face on view. You would be able to see the trail hip higher than the lead and the head position would stay fairly still. A tiny bit of movement is ok but it should be pretty close to staying within a box drawn around it at address. Experiment with different feels and film it until it's in the position Dan described. Everyone is different and your feel will
  13. Been watching a lot of Ridyard's stuff trying to get a feel for his philosophy. I've also been thinking about joining Raflewski's membership site. I really liked how he communicated when he was featured on TXG. I think his site went live not too long ago so I'm not sure how much content he has up yet.
  14. Just to update this thread the head down thought proved to be a band-aid. I was distracted just enough that I stopped focusing on moving the hands but that didn't last long. One thing @glk mentioned was the connection of the body and arms and that got me thinking. When I was really chipping well, I had just started doing the planemate protocols. The post impact position, ("finishing form"?) was probably really beneficial for me but I didn't realize it at the time. After a few weeks I started focusing exclusively on my fullswing takeaway and shallowing positions and stopped doing th
  15. Sounds like you may be turning your shoulders too flat which can cause your upper body to sway and be off balance. If the trail leg is extending then you should have adequate hip tilt. Extension of trail leg moves the connected hip up and back.
  16. Having the ability to change weights on a single stick is a bloody brilliant idea. Just followed on Instagram. I hope to play in some regional tourneys in the next couple years and probably need to add another 5-7 mph swing speed to really be competitive.
  17. This past month I got a cheap light weight broom from Dollar Tree and started doing the super speed protocols out of boredom. I'm actually surprised how well this has worked out. Granted, I have no radar to monitor my actual swing speed but I've noticed some substantial distance gains. Hit a drive 286 yards today with what felt like a regular swing. That would be a huge drive for me in the heat of the summer and NEVER happens in early December. My 3 wood usually goes 230 off the tee and I smashed one to 253 today. I'm pretty giddy at the moment. I'd say on average I've gained 10 yards which ha
  18. Been struggling with driver as of late after weakening my right hand grip a bit. I've been hitting big block fades that end up on the right side of the adjacent fairway. I finally tired using the short band on my driver the past week making dry swings in the yard. Took the feel to the course and have driven it better then I have in months. Everything just seemed to be synched together so much better. Ball was on a rope unless I was intentionally shaping it around a dogleg. I was also getting it out to 265 yards consistently which is my normal summer time distance. Pretty stoked to be getting t
  19. If your loosing that much yardage and seeing a higher then normal trajectory; you're 100% adding dynamic loft at impact. You're out of position somewhere earlier in the swing and scooping to compensate or you'd probably miss the ball or hit a terrible shot. When you post the vid I'm sure someone will be able to spot why you are compensating.
  20. Where are you making contact on the clubface? Do you break tees or are they still intact after you've hit a shot? Whenever I see a balloon ball it's usually from coming over the top and getting steep at impact. Impact gets excessively high on the face and the downward angle of attack breaks the tee. If my tee is still intact after impact I know my aoa is fairly level. When I'm driving really well the tee stays in the ground like it's never been touched. Might be a useful way to level out your strike.
  21. Driver: 250 to 270 dependent on conditions. PW: 110-120. Stock yardage is 120. I have quite a large gap between my PW and Gap wedge. 25 yards to be exact so out of necessity I've learned to take 10 off the PW when I need to. It's much more reliable than trying to squeeze an extra 5 out of the GW which usually results in a pull that misses the green. The best iron shots of my life have always been the result of taking more club, making a 3/4 swing and sawing off the finish. Makes me feel like a real shotmaker even though I only pretend to be.
  22. I love my PM! I think it's helped more with my mental framework of the golf swing then actually forcing positions. Don't get me wrong the feels are great but it's more powerful knowing the why. As far as the relax position, I don't think wrist angles or anything, I just try and get the COM of the club head deeper behind my hands in transition. Takes care of everything else assuming you've arrived at the top correctly.
  23. You've got it. Bow the lead wrist and ulnar deviate the trail wrist (a down cast movement). Get the trail shoulder into external rotation (like skipping a stone). You might get better responses in the Planemate thread. Have you watched the advanced protocols that unlock when you register?
  24. Pandemic golf flat out sucks. I managed to play 5 holes in the past 2 weeks. Every course in town is booked solid and I typically walk on as a single so my options are limited to twilight if that. I thought things would be a bit better on Black Friday but they weren't. I can't wait until the courses aren't filled with newbies that have nothing better to do.

    Dead Hybrid?

I agree on the launch monitor. It was more of a passing thought that I was curious about. It's slow here in California with the curfew and what not. I find myself posting a lot more of my random golf thoughts with all of this free time. The plan is to just pass the Cleveland on to my cousin who is just beginning and get a Mizzy CLK.
