Hey Guys, I’ve recently thought about switching to Players Cavity Backs. Any thoughts in which irons are the best in your opinion? No specific year, I was looking into the Titleist 710CB. What do yall think?

Annual thread time! Still no link to a catalog, although some are stating that they have seen some of the lineup for themselves. An interesting note regarding an increased presence for the Jordan line however… Once a catalog is posted, it will be linked on the page. In the meantime, I will post any news that can be gathered otherwise. *UPDATE* Spring Catalog Link https://www.dropbox.com/s/x9rkpbq8tgplwof/Nike-Golf-Apparel-Catalog-Spring-2023.pdf?dl=0

Been playing the original Nike forged blades since the mid-2000’s. Managed to find a good looking 2-PW set of the Nike VR Pro blades on ebay and I couldn’t resist. The upgrade has been well worth it. New sticks feel great.

Saw these on the bay. Had to snag them for $500. Are these the miura full cavity nike prototypes? They look a whole lot like them. I know they're not the clubs they are listed as. Any responses would be appreciated! A little beat up but nothing a little refinishing can't solve! Also, how much do these normally go for? Thank you all have a great day!

After years of asking, testing and scrapping together a bag of sticks I feel this set up is here to stay. Not partial to any one brand but get very attached to my clubs if they work. The current starting line up is below. Driver: Taylormade SIM 8.25, slight fade bias, Hazrdus Red 6s 44" 3 Wood: Taylormade M1 15, neutral weights, Oban Devotion 6 4 Hybrid (Van Halen Hybrid): Tour Edge Bazooka, Accara CS1 M5 3 Iron: Nike Vapor Speed, Project X PW-4 Iron: Nike Vapor Pro Combo, DG300 Wedges: 52 Vokey SM5 F grind, 56 Vokey SM5 S grind, 60 Vokey SM6 M grind Putter: Taylormade Ardmore 3 Black Copper I've never had too big a problem with spin rate being too high. My normal numbers for the driver all come in around 175 mph with 2-2.5k spin. Didn't think much of the hzrdus when I purchased it second hand but I found it worked really well, firing off rounds at mid launch and low spin. I can't tell if its tipped or shortened but it's 44". My personal preference is lighter shafts where I can feel the load so it fit my tastes perfectly. The 3 wood was my first attempt at building a club on my own. Bought the head and uncut shaft separately then chopped a few inches off the butt of the club and glued a grip and adapter and tried it out. Struck gold on my first try. Mid launch spinning in around 3-3.5k. It's a club I use as an alternate for the driver if the hole is a little narrower or shorter. Obans play a bit on the stiffer side so I wasn't too worried about the flex. Ultimately, it's the numbers and feel the club gives you that should be the deciding factor. The hybrid was a fun project I had in mind. That position of the bag is in constant flux. I was never a believer in hybrids. Pride overcast rational thought and I was attempting to fill the slot with 2/3 irons from a variety of makes and models. Finally, I found an old hybrid donated from a friend some years ago. Old tour edge with a senior shaft that I only took out to mess around. As a winter project I figured I'd change the shaft and paint it. Im a big fan of rock and roll from the 70/80s, Queen, Guns n Roses and Van Halen being my big 3. Tough to draw the Queen and Guns logos on a hybrid but EVHs frankenstrat fit the bill. Im far from Picasso but still happy with the way it turned out. The beauty of the design is that the more it gets used the closer to the intended representation it becomes. Haven't tested it out yet but have high hopes for it this coming year. The 3 iron, as mentioned, is a place holder and a bench warmer. Swings like a mace but was able to be used off the tee and into par 5s. might take a page out of Finau's book a throw a tour ad in. The irons are my pride and joy. I've loved them since the day I hit them. Swing weight, looks, spin and feel are all there. The golf bug bit me around the time nike golf was going out of business so I only had one shot at getting these new. Been playing them for 7 years pretty heavily. Some signs of wear but they hold up. The volt swoosh started to fade a bit, and I wanted them to match the bag a little more. A little paint fill and clear coat go a long way. They wont be leaving the bag for a long time to come. Vokeys are pretty standard in the bag. Never had trouble spinning them and when they look and feel good they don't need to be replaced. A little side note is that the 52 is the length of a 56. Don't know what mastermind had the idea but it was pre-Bryson. Making all the wedges single length seems like a pretty good idea, especially from a consistency standpoint. The putter is all about feel. Tried out a couple scotty cams and odysseys but liked the feel of the Ardmore. Mallets take a lot of the work out of the putting stroke since theres more mass behind the head. For me 34" was the right length. I feel confident when I play with it, even on the bad days. If you made it this far and want to talk shop please leave a comment. I love talking gear. Without further ado, the bag. If you want to talk shop or have any questions, please leave a comment. I love talking gear and hearing peoples thoughts. Thanks for reading!

WITB Complete WITB 2021: Road to single digit
mattseb posted a topic in What's In The Bag Photo Edition
So..heres my setup..nothing too complicated but it gets the job done really well. I am currently a 10.4 handicap, shooting around low 80s from about 6850 yards. I basically got tired of my game improvement irons and decided to get rid of them shovels and get something more player's-irons like but still having forgiveness and workability. Tried out a lot of clubs and got fitted for new irons... Driver: Taylormade M4 10.5* w/ Mitsubishi Tensei CK Orange 60 Stiff Shaft 5-wood: Ping G400 w/ Alta Stiff Shaft 4-Rescue: Taylormade SIM2 Tour Rescue w/ Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Blue Stiff Shaft 5-PW: 2020 Taylormade P790 w/ Nippon NS Pro 950GH Stiff Shafts and MCC Align grips, 1* flat, 1* weak lofted Gap Wedge: 51* Titleist Vokey TVD M grind Sand Wedge: 56* Titleist Vokey SM7 10S Lob Wedge: Cleveland RTX-4 9FULL Putter: 2020 Scotty Cameron Special Select Newport 2 **Read Below Honestly, I love these clubs. I hit them well and they perform exactly how i wanted them to. I had tested a lot of irons from Mizuno, Taylormade, Callaway, Srixon, and Ping at a PGA Tour Superstore but the P790s really shocked me with the feel and flight. Taylormade came to my golf course and did a fitting session open to locals and i signed up since it was free and i wanted to get fitted for P790s. I was hitting the P790 7-iron about 205 yards on average with the ns pro 120 shafts but the ball flight was low and about 4000 rpm spin. But after changing them to something lighter and higher launch (ns pro 950gh) i had the results i wanted: about 6400 spin and carried 185 yards. Upon changing to these irons, i broke 85 for the first time a month after putting them in my bag and have been happy ever since. My driver headcover is from Pins and Aces and they are AWESOME. For the price, best headcover in the game, really high quality and stylish i would say, great company. I would like to get a dormie workshop headcover one day but thats when i will upgrade my driver, which is not in the near future. I love my driver, it is pretty consistent and carries about 285 yards. Its not super long but it gets me in the fairway. My 5-wood is my ultimate tool in long par-5s, it carries 250 yards and this thing is like a canon. I suck at hitting woods except for Ping woods. On address it looks amazing and aspires confidence. The newest club in the bag is the SIM2 tour rescue. I was surprised to get this club since people say its hard to hit bla bla bla and i should get the SIM2 max hybrid instead but i keep on over drawing the SIM2 max hybrids cuz i feel like they look awfully closed-face on address. This rescue is amazing...low ball flight, carries 220 yards and great for getting out of thick roughs. Thats pretty much it for my WITB..my wedges are pretty good, they get the job done. I love the RTX-4 cuz they are really spinny. Vokeys and Vokeys, we all know what they can do, no mistakes there. The Putter is relatively new but it works really good. I previously played a super soft taylormade putter which ends up short on my misses but the scotty really gives an extra push and my missed become inside two feet past the hole which is what i want. Nothing feels like a scotty but i would also take that with a gran of salt since putters should mainly look good on your eyes and it all depends on your own feel. ONE LAST THING... i always use Nike golf shoes because i feel like theyre sporty and not boring like FootJoy (no offense) but the thing with Nike golf shoes is that they are not as good quality as FJ and nowhere as comfortable as FJ. So overall, FJ actually wins in comfort among any other brands. HOWEVER....... Rory Mcilroy's new nike shoes just popped up on the nike website and your boy gotta cop. AND LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING.....NIKE....YOU FINALLY DID IT....no joke its one of the coolest, sporty yet classy golf shoes nike has come up with in recent years (in my opinion)...and guess what??? THEY ARE SUPERRR COMFORTABLE...PICS BELOW... the leather is screaming good quality and the laces make them look classy and i love the fact that it is really simple.. just white with grey accents. And i like these soft spikes better than the ones on the infinity tours. Awesome shoe Nike!!! FEEL FREE TO COMMENT...LET ME KNOW IF YOU LIKE OR DISLIKE AND MAYBE I COULD GET SOME OPINIONS FOR RAIN GEAR AND GOLF APPAREL. THANKS!!- 9 replies
