  1. Hi Guys, I'm relatively new to the game and I’ve shopped around for ways to learn the golf swing naturally. Through reading and YouTube, I’ve really resonated with the teachings of Manuel De La Torre. While there isn’t too much available content regarding club-focused instruction online relative to body-focused instruction, I’ve been happy to see such awesome praise for the teachings of MDLT from @juststeve and other members of GolfWRX. With that being said, I figured this might be the best place to seek answers on some questions I have regarding the core swing philosophy. Simply put, should
  2. I've been working with a coach for about a year now and it's time to make a change. However, I'm not sure what the best way to evaluate instructors is. There are so many of them locally and they all sort of say the right / same things over the phone. My inclination is to simply bite the bullet and get a lesson or two from several that I think might be promising, then see if the "feel" they give me turns into "real". My experience thus far has been that learning a swing is more about communication style than anything -- do they say something that makes sense to you that you can then replicate
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QGO2OFX9o4Hey all, happy Friday. I have been struggling with this hunched over/dipping motion at impact for a number of years now and can't seem to shake it. You may also notice I tend to cast the club quite early losing distance and hitting the ball really high, not sure if the two are related but neither can be beneficial. Any help or advice on what to practice to solve these issues would be greatly appreciated. I posted a video above of me hitting a 7 iron earlier today. Thanks!
  4. Hi all! Anybody have any good drills for starting the downswing with your lower body? Anything that's worked for you guys? I've always had the "hit instinct" from the top of the backswing. This leads to square hips at impact when they should've already rotated through plus lots of casting. Thanks everyone ?
  5. Hey guys, played the round of my life a few weeks ago. Now I feel like I’m tense and trying to force a repeat of that. I tried loosing up during a range session and found some good swings when my wrists felt super loose. It felt like I was hinged until striking the ball. I didn’t see any distance gained, so don’t know if it’s me lagging. Just wondering if anyone else has felt that and if it’s a good thing or a bad thing? Going to have a friend video tape in a few days so I can see for myself.
  6. I have just started golfing again after a long hiatus and have never really taken it seriously, but I would like to start. I am a former baseball player and quite athletic. I am 6'5" and 220 pounds with what I think is a fast swing speed, but I have a slice that I am having a hard time getting rid of. My ball speed with my previous driver (Taylermade r9) averages around 170mph with a stiff shaft. I have just upgraded to an M5 with an x-stiff Hzrdous Smoak 70g but haven't hit it yet. Is there anything glaring about my swing that someone can point out while I patiently wait at home for lessons
  7. Anyone know of some good places to get video analysis of your swing and get data for your club speed, spin rate, etc?? I know of GolfTec but was curious if you all knew of some other options.
  8. I've spent a lot of time working on my game recently, but my score hasn't moved much. That being said, I feel much better about it as I'm making significantly better contact each swing, however instead of duffing or blading a bunch of balls each round I'm smacking then OB. I feel like I'm on the verge of a breakthrough, but am consistently losing 6+ balls per round. Examples: 93 with 7 lost balls, 98 with 10 lost balls, etc Any suggestions on how you've overcome this? Usually I hit a fairly straight shot with a bit of a fade. Driving can be an issue but most lost balls are from irons th
  9. So I've been going through Monte's Efficient swing video series for the last 3 weeks and I am getting some gains in my swing but still struggling with transition and coming in over the top. I was looking into adding the Speed Trap 2.0 into my training to help. Is that worth it to do along with his videos or would it be best at this point to just pony up for some lessons to get some one-on-one instruction? Thoughts anyone?
  10. Hey guys! Just looking for some feedback on the golf swing. Thanks In advance,
  11. All winter I have been patiently waiting for the weather to allow me to play a round, or at the very to least hit the driving range. I wandered into the local golf shop a few weeks ago to buy a new bag and to get about 30 minutes in on their SkyTrac, to hopefully find my swing again, since there has been too much time for practicing. After I took a few swings at it and was looking at the monitor to see how bad my slice was, a guy who couldn't have been anymore than early 30s MAYBE. He offered to show me a few things with my swing and of course I was willing take all the help I could get, the g
