Incorrect date on contract. Am I responsible?

The country club I joined a few years ago requires 12 month contracts. This year I want to leave the club as soon as possible and I noticed on the contract the date is incorrect.

It should read: (All underlined words and dates were handwritten by a club representative)

To be paid in 12 consecutive installments commencing on the 1 day of May 2013.

However, it was written and signed by a representative of the club to read:

To be paid in 12 consecutive installments commencing on the 13 day of March 2013.

The guy in the shop that signed the contract put the date it was signed as the date the contract actually begins.

I had made plans financially to stop paying on the 13th of the month and am now being told I have to pay for the entire month of March and also April.

Do I have any grounds to stop paying on March 13? I do not mind to pay up to that date to honor the contract and have offered a daily rate multiplied by the 13 days of the month plus any applicable taxes to satisfy the requirements.

Did you actually sign up in May or did you sign up in March? Also do you plan on rejoining at a later date?

If you actually signed up in May I would just pay as it should have been paid. If they are trying to squeeze you for two extra months, I would escalate this.

I originally signed up in May. I renewed the contract in March but the guy in the shop wrote the date I signed (March 13) instead of my renewal date (May 1) on the contract. I have no plans to rejoin as long as the guy that owns the place is in charge, so I'm not concerned about burning the bridge. He has been rude from the start and has sent several patronizing emails inquiring if I am having "financial troubles" thus the reason I want out of the contract. He knows the real reason I am leaving as several of my playing partners have already left.

Also, let me state I haven't set foot on the property since September 15, 2013. I know my "year" isn't technically up until April 30 but I am trying to get away as soon as possible. The course is not being maintained very well and the staff from the owner down is rude.

I will also say that when I first signed up I specifically asked the General Manager (who was soon after arrested for identity theft) if I could leave whenever I wanted. His answer was Yes (an obvious lie). When I brought this up to the owner he said "I had signed two contracts after the one I signed with the old GM so what he said didn't matter anyway". Now that the current contract is signed with the wrong date, he won't uphold the exact same contract he originally used as a shield to begin with. He said that the date on the current contract didn't matter that I had to pay until the end of April.
