Overrated:

1. Cameron-other than a collectors piece what does he make that can't be had elsewhere for less or better?

2. Sonartec-the hybrids and fairways were hot for so long...now what?

3. Nike-It's the package, not the product...though they are getting better

Underrated:

1. KZG-better than so much higher priced gear

2. Taylormade-one product only the TP MB 06 are the most Underrated blade on the planet

3. Adams-solid line up, the drivers need to be better to get them really rolling

Great thread, although I can hardly believe anyone is saying that Nike ore over-rated. SUrely they need to be rated in the first place to then be over rated?? And seeing as most of you really don't rate Nike equipment...??

Anyway I digress.

Over-rated - IMO TaylorMade. Have had some of their products, the best being the R7 Quad, but otherwise I find their quality a bit suspect, and I don't really have time for a company that pays players (non-staffers) so much just to get to the top of the driver stats.

Under-rated - Hmmm for my mind it has to be Bridgestone. I currently play their Tourstage Brand's z101s and they are fantastic clubs. I also use the B330S Tour ball which is really good as well. Other brands like Nickent, Henry Griffiths, PGR and probably Srixon are really good.

That's exactly what I thought. I see nike as the most hated, unused, mistrusted, underappreciated product on this forum. Very few Nike 'users' are even bold enough to stick their necks out here. So therefore, I wholeheartedly agree with you... 'most of you don't really rate nike equipment'.

ColinMB.........I use a full bag of Titleist equipment.......that being said I feel Nike blades are as good as any out there....also the One Black and Platinum are fantastic golf balls......not a huge fan of there woods or putters, but am really impressed with Nike Golf as a whole!

I have to agree with the Nike comments, can't be overrated when everyone is bashing them.

I myself never thought of Nike as being a serious golf company. Guess I'm too old to take them seriously next to some of the more established brands. But after giving them a try, I now have ten Nike clubs in the bag. Darn good clubs.

Under-rated:

1. Bridgestone. Their marketing to this point has not highlighted the lineup well enough. Fabulous clubs and balls.

2. Nickent. While known for their hybrids, they may surprise people with their new kit coming out. John Hoeflitch behind the designs could mean REALLY big things for this now small brand.

3. Adams- making some absolute balls-out great gear and still fighting the "old-man" image of yore.

Over-rated:

While I do own a few of their clubs, Taylor Made's practices of new gear every 5 minutes is wearing on me, and I suspect, a lot of people. I like their drivers, but see little reason to throw my money out a window with the rest of their gear for the most part. The quality is suspect at times as well.

Most over rated=Ping,Callaway...even though i like the way they are changing trying to get the younger guys $$$

Most under rated= Components,Wilson,Adams or Nickent...and Nike because people act like that you have a atom bomb in your bag when you say you play nike or you just play Nike because you are on his nizzuts.i have been a die hard nike fan since day 1!......because Research and Development, fresh and new looking products....people really should stop being so closed minded about their equipment...just because it's new and they cant play with anything that isnt Taylormade,Titleist,Ping or Callaway emblazoned on it..thats not what this game is about.......shot by shot and skills.....i would take a custom set of the crappiest component heads and take all there mortgage $ of the guys with these $$ clubs..that even goes for my swooshes.but i like to much to get rid of em. ;)

Overrated:

Callaway- Irons never ever impressed me, the FT-5 does show promise on the driver side

Nike- still working their way up the golf ladder imho...we'll see. Still like their shoes though.

Titleist- irons have been so so, drivers so so, but they really only care about selling balls.

Cameron- Im still convinced that 99% of the time it's the Indian...not the arrow. But I'll still probably

buy one someday just to say I did.

Ozik shafts- blah

Underrated:

Bridgestone- irons, drivers, and balls are super quality

Tour Edge- longest fairway woods hands down, drivers are awesome too

Nakashima- amazing quality in irons, wedges, woods

Grip Master- best grips made without a doubt, should spend more on marketing

Graman- for $120 or less the best graphite shafts in golf by far.

I'm not going into my thoughts on overrated, but as for underarted, I'll throw in bridgestone as #1. Just a few days ago i was at dick's while my wife and mom were doing some shopping for my sisters baby shower. I was hitting the new drivers (nikes, callaways, cleveland). Too bad there launch monitor wasn't working so i was told. The lady working was going on and on about this new technology in these clubs and comparing them to the old models they are replacing and the other oem's. She was trying to get me to buy one (didn't matter to her which one, as she said any would be an improvement over the older stuff), I told her that there was no way i dropping money on a new driver with just hitting it inside into a net without any launch monitor info and without comparing it to my current gamer. She was noticeably getting a bit frustrated that she wasn't going to make a sale but still asked me about my current driver. I told her, Bridgestone j33r 460 with a fuji 757 shaft. She had one of the dumbest looks i have ever seen on anyone in a golf proshop and asked me if i was sure on that. She said that bridgestone made balls and didn't make golf clubs to her knowledge. Really shocked me to see that kind of ignorance when you're in the business of selling golf equipment. After writing all this maybe i should have started my own thread on this. Also gotta throw nickent and adams in there as well. There is only one dealer in my area when i search on nickents website and they are a private club and don't carry any inventory on them anyways (all special order).

That is a ignorant statement considering there are 25,000+ members here......and you challenged all of us.....Nike makes a great club, but because of ignorant people like you they do not get credit for it!!!!!
