Anyone own a Ball? I saw a cool-looking Fireman on Jomashop and was considering adding it to my collection.

My buddy has a Ball. Really nice looking piece and seems to be pretty high quality. I really like it.

Funny story maybe.

Just out in a small mall in NRH in Texas. Stopped to look at a small jewelers who had some used Rolex. Most of these had been bedazzled up and had after market dials and diamonds

Then saw a late model datejust 36mm with fluted bezel, blue dial. How much. He gets it out and it has 13k on the back for ss.

That’s not the price, I give you best price of 6500 out the door. Box papers etc. He then gets all these Rolex warranty cards out and states these are worthless and management won’t give them out.

Wife tried it on likes it. I do a quick search on phone, nag too much I can get it for less than 5500 from bobs.

Wait let me see what I can do, ok we will match it and the manager com s over

How you pay, cash- this is best price 5500. Better than both your navitimer and your wife’s Breitling as they are worthless. Rolex you need to buy this watch

Me, I’ll buy one, just not from a muppet like you. You insult a customer and you want me to buy from you.

Well I didn’t mean that it’s just that we can buy a navitimer for $400. Nobody wants them. Shall we do a deal. No f*** off

Can anybody give me recommendations for a watch between $3,000-$5,000? I'm typically into a pilot style, not a big fan of divers. I prefer leather bands to metal ones. I have an everyday beater watch or will go without it if I'm doing a bunch of errands around the house or at work. Something that I can wear a couple of times a week for social events, dinner dates, etc. I've been looking at the IWC pilot chronograph because it seems to fit the criteria I'm looking for. I've seen the brand around for a while but I'm no watch enthusiast by any means. Just wondering if someone could tell me if it's pretty good watch for the buck. I've read on here that Rolex is the best "value", resale, etc but not a fan of the style. Also, I'm considering getting the Apple Watch Hermes since it's functional, looks good, and it's formal enough to wear with a suit. Any feedback is appreciated thanks

You have to go see how they look.

You be surprised how the watch you think you wanted looks.

Might look like crap on you.

Try on a few. Take your time.

Theres a lot of people who spent thousands on timepieces that

Just dont look good on their wrists. Cause they just didnt spend time (ironaclly) on the right purchase.

Dont be one of them ; )

Do the mirror check. Look at yourself in a mirror with the watch, you'd be surprised that some watches look different from others perspective vs you looking down at your wrist.

Might check out Zenith, they have some fantastic pilot style watches

Between Zenith and IWC both would be great choices for what you're looking for. Great recommendation Pixl!

Interested in starting some type of collection. I bought my first expensive watch back in 2007, it was a Tag Heuer Indy 500. Definitely could tell the difference in feel and quality over the usual $20 dollar watches I bought. Now my itch to get a couple of more timepieces has re-ignited. Talked with a cousin mine and got some pretty useful information, mainly that Seiko makes good watches lol. I always thought they were cheap tbh, but after doing some reading and research, found out that they make some real quality watches even if the price seems too good to be true.

I started looking at some Seikos and one that caught my eye was the Seiko Presage SRPB43 (Cocktail Time). For some reason that one just sticks out to me even though it might be a little more "dressy" than an every day, but the blue/silver face is really beautiful. Saw that the original Shinobu released a couple years back, but I think those are hard to find now, so I'm thinking about getting this and then hopefully saving money to get something that I've really wanted, an Omega Seamaster.

Really nice to see what everyone has and seeing new brands that I've never heard of.

Look at the SARB065 for the "true" cocktail" model.

Yeah, I saw the original Shinobu Cocktail watch. Is there a huge difference between the two?

That's another brand that I was surprised at that makes nice watches. It's amazing how many brands have flown over my head cause all I really saw were the Rolex, Breitling, etc. big brands, but there are tons of smaller brands that make equally quality timepieces.

Better movement and finishing on the 065 (6r movement vs the 4r in the new stuff)

Dont get me wrong, both are nice, the 065 is just the "one" most people want.

Agreed. The SARB065 is the original. The Presage may be "just as good" but the one that will retain the "it factor" is the SARB. They're still around the $375-450 mark for nearly new/pre-loved.

I am interested in adding to my G-Shock collection and purchasing a GWG1000 series Mudmaster. Does anyone have this model?

Master of G watches seem to be really tough to find in stores. I would love to simply view it in person before actually buying. I was surprised to see that my local Macy's actually had a few of the GG1000 models.

I am a fan of Breitling. A very good durable watch that doesn't scream "look at me" but is quietly respected by those who know of it.

So about two years ago we had a party at my house and in my excitement i got to "amnesia-mode" of drinking. Right as I was crossing the conscious/unconscious barrier, i "hid" my Breitling SuperOcean somewhere on our top floor. I have not been able to find it but i know it is somewhere in our nightmare storage closet.

Fast forward to last night... My fiancee and i were at a Jewelry store picking out our rings for our wedding and she surprised me by buying me this as a pre-wedding present. I think i hit the future wife lottery

It is a IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph Spitfire.

I will make sure i never take this off if i go into amnesia-mode again.

Thank you!

Btw how is that bracelet? Looks like it would be pretty comfortable.

It’s better than most. Despite being pretty heavy compared to a Rolex it still feels great. Plus it is easy to make minor adjustments with the clasp if need be. Just press the IWC button on the bottom and you can make minor adjustments on the fly.

My favorite watch by far to wear in the cold months is my Seiko Samurai on a black Zulu. I actually even went diving with it in August and it was fantastic.

Funny enough, my most complimented watch is my crappy Timex that I wear on various nylon straps. My $300 SARB that I'm wearing right now gets no 2nd glances. Pretty much the only reason I haven't splurged on an Omega or Hamilton yet is that I know only other watch enthusiasts would care. 98% of people who I ever talk about watches to know little to nothing. They know "ROLEX = REALLY GOOD" and that's about it.

Anyone prefer the "older" smaller cases over the new larger ones?

Besides for investment purposes.

I still prefer old school size watches. I did buy a Heuer Monaco for Father's day as the square shape doesn't look as bizarre to me as the Flavo Flav sized round watches. Gonna buy a rose gold Santos for the same reason and to complete a set: I want each of my son's to have a gold watch as a remembrance...….when I pass.

I finally retired my SS Daytona and picked up a Heur Aquaracer as my new hunting watch, About to ship the Daytona to Dallas for a refurb before I put it I the safe. Ironically it has already served it's purpose as an investment without even knowing it, the whole time being used & abused..
