What putter(s) will you be using in 2014?

jtitleist12

Recommended Posts

I wanted to start a 2014 thread like the one I had last year and find out what putter(s) everyone plans on using this year!

As of now, I plan on starting my season with my Rife Aussie in the bag. This putter has been in the bag the longest of any putter I have ever owned and this year will be it's fourth straight year. I changed up the paint fill with a little gloss gray.

So let's see your gamer for 2014!

Moving away from my GoLo and back to a CS mallet. Currently bagging a Piretti Teramo. Hands down the best mallet I've owned. Played everything from Bettinardi, Scotty, Cleveland, Ping putters and the Piretti is a pretty unique feeling putter. Best craftsmanship I've seen for an OTR putter. Feels like a tour custom from the mill marks on the back to the face mill.

I haven't decided yet, but I'm definitely going to pick one and stick with it... I've made a decision to get the bag set by next week and stick it out, good or bad. Options are currently

Bettinardi Studio Stock #5, black finish, black shaft, lime green Iomic Absolute X grip. This is the leader in the clubhouse and probably the one that I'll go with.

Byron Morgan DH89 SS... This is a very solid 2nd.

I've got a five putter rotation, with this year, my Circle T Newport Beach on the bench, lol

Well, I hope all of your putts roll true :)

Bettinardi Signature Series 6. Just got it, love it. Need to sell my Nike Method Concept before the wife notices two putters in the bag.

Gamer this year has been Cameron Oil Can Coronado 2 ....seems to be the flavor of the year. Have been great with distance control, sinking more one putts than in recent memory and I accually feels like I'm making pure strokes on the ball. I've put a strip and a half of lead tape on the bottom.

I have all kinds of gamers. It's confusing as hell, and it has ruined my putting.
I was a pretty good putter before I started "collecting". Now I want to game them ALL (have about 45-50 total).
I don't know what the guys with 100+ putters do, unless they are mostly wallhangers.

This year though, I'm going to try and keep the rotation to a minimum.

I've been practicing with my Scotty 2.6 but not sure a center shaft is my thing.
I'm getting a new Golo3 so that will definitely get in the bag early on.
I bought a Byron 612 for Christmas but haven't gamed it yet (carbon). That will be in the bag when the weather is steady warm / dry.
I have a Newport Notchback that I used as a winter gamer and love the way it frames the ball, so that may be hard to get out of my bag.
I'm ordering a Byron DH89 that I'm going to have to try at some point.
I'm looking at a Lajosi handmade that I'll probably pick up and game.
And if those fail me I'll go back to my 2 favorite long time gamers: Scotty Mil Spec 33/350 and a TP Mills handmade that I absolutely love.

Gaming the Ping Senita B at 35 inches. It is an amazing feeling putter. I picked up the slight arc model. It helps to create the most fluid stroke I have ever had. The counterbalancing is perfect with my grip around 33.5 to 34 inches. It produces a very tight roll for me too with very little skid.

Driver...TBD

3 wood... TBD

Srixon ZX MK 11 #3 Utility iron

Wilson Staff CB 4-PW with DG mid 115

Wedges... TBD

Yes! Evelyn mallet. I've been looking for a mid mallet all winter and the last few times I stopped by the PGASS I couldn't miss with it. Better than the $300 Cameron's and Betti's for me. Finally pulled the trigger yesterday.

I don't generally change mid-season, I like to just work through any rough spots and re-work the bag in the off-season. So I think it's me and Evelyn for 2014!

Been practicing inside all winter with both my trusty Redwood Anser and a Piretti Potenza I picked up around Christmas. Still yet to feel fully comfortable over the Potenza, but have to at least give it a fair chance on the course this spring. I hope it works out because it sure is purdy.

Currently gaming my trusty gold Cali Coronado but might be using a tei3 that I recently acquired once I restored it. Or maybe a 2014 Newport because I'm a sucker.

I finished last year with my Rife Barbados, Taylormade Corza Ghost & Odyssey DF Rossie II. I then added a Rife 2 bar CS mallet. I've played 2 rounds the last two weeks using the Corza and the 2 bar. I've putted better with the 2 bar. But I have a Odyssey Protype #5 arriving Tuesday that I hope will put everything else on the BST :russian_roulette:

Cameron Squareback 2. Been there 2 years now. Will probably toss in a Piretti Teramo, Ping Anser, and a Rossa Monte Carlo 7 a few times.

Right now my Ping Scottsdale Shea. I just made the switch to mid-mallet putters and I'm loving it. Before that I had an Odyssey White Ice #7 and it was solid.

After reading through a few posts on the Shea I think I might return my Shea for the TR version though, as I can still return it for full credit. Like $40 to upgrade to the TR version but apparently it's worth it so we'll see. Gonna go hit it this weekend and see what I think.
