Free Round at WolfDancer this Sat, PM Me!

My company is hosting a weekend April 25-27 at Barton Creek. The negotiated group rate to play the Fazio Foothills is 225 which seems kind of steep to me. I understand there are other courses on site. Anyone know what the rates are for the other courses and which ones is the best value? If all of the on site courses are steep are there any other good courses within 15-20 mins of the resort for around 75 or less a person for Saturday?

Edit: Last call for a free round at Wolfdancer this Sat 11 AM if you can pick me up and drop me back off at the Barton creek resort. PM me ASAP!

Avery Ranch is a pretty nice course in the area. Star Ranch is a little north and has a neat all day rate. Falconhead, Forrest Creek, Onion Creek, ShadowGlen, Vaaler Creek and Wolfdancer might prove to be of interest as well. I mostly play the muni's in town, but might be doing Avery this weekend, and Vaaler Creek is a great course. Star Ranch is a nice open layout similar to one of the city-run muni's but in overall better shape.

I have played falconhead and all three courses at Barton Creek. The two courses by the hotel, Crenshaw and Fazio, I think, they are ok but the course thats a five minute drive from the hotel is a great test and a great course. Falconhead is on a different level than these courses I found it to be just ok. I have heard good things about wolfdancer but I think it is even more expensive then the barton creek courses.

Another vote for Avery Ranch and Falconhead. They are both relatively close to BC and less expensive. You can also get on Wolfdancer for a hondo or less, but its a way off from the resort, 30-40 minutes East toward Houston in Bastrop.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the responses. What's the best way to book Falconhead or Avery ranch are they on golfnow or something similar? Any idea what I would pay for a mid morning round on a sat?

Which course is most "hill country" golf with elevation changes etc. Most the websites don't have a lot of pictures but Wolfdancer looks awesome but it's 149.

You'll enjoy Wolfdancer, it made the Top 20 Texas Courses in Golf Digest this year. Their range is pretty good, but their practice putting area is kinda small. The course should be in great shape by now. You can go to the Pro shop and ask them to make you a bag tag with your name or whatever you want to put in it for free. Another hidden gem that also made the Top 20 is Delaware Springs in Burnet, but its about 45 mins west of Barton Creek. Sure worth the drive though.

greens were super slow, which was surpassing for Wolfdancer. Could've played better, but company was great, overall nice experience.

That's too bad about the greens, must be letting them grow out with the recent rain to get them into form. I played there about a month ago and they hadn't "greened up" completely but they were rolling very well. Glad you guys had fun though...

    • In-hand photos of 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus, Stealth 2, Stealth 2 HD drivers + fairways woods
Check out our front page launch stories here and here.

What you need to know: For the first time, carbon is the most prevalent material by volume in a TaylorMade driver, and more carbon equals better performance, says the company. Last year, TaylorMade debuted a 60X Carbon Twist Face. With TaylorMade Stealth 2, engineers are bringing carbon to more of the golf club — and unveiling a new-and-improved Carbon Twist Face in the process. Stealth 2 Plus (low spin, most workable) Stealth 2, and Stealth 2 HD (draw bias, high launch, most forgiving) drivers make up the Stealth 2 family.

What you need to know: Breakthrough movable weight technologies and versatile designs are the hallmarks of the 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway woods. Stealth 2 Plus is branded as “three fairway woods in one” owing to the unique performance characteristics afforded by the 50-gram sole weight. Stealth 2 features a slightly lower profile 3D carbon crown than Stealth. This moves CG down and away from the toe with more weight in the rear of the club for higher launch and MOI. Ultra-high MOI Stealth 2 HD features an oversized 200cc head and low-profile sole, creating an easy-to-hit, draw-biased club.
