PXG Mustang Gen 2 Build:

- Double-Bend shaft for FB

- 20g weights installed to bring HW to 370g

- cut to 33.5 inches

- SuperStroke 3.0

- 25g Counterweight

I absolutely love everything about it.image.jpg.38387fe8ab95da441c4eb398d4764f41.jpgimage.jpg.c5cce31767a28cb05badabb2561c8c89.jpg

I always have admired the Closer but the Mustang may be my favorite PXG putter. The shape of the back flange helps it set up so well. Great looking stick.

With all due respect I hate you lol. JK, kinda....What a putter!

Haha, no offense taken! Heading down to PING was the coolest part. So much technology packed into the putting lab and rolling putts on the giant marble slab was really neat. I would highly recommend it for anyone who is still on the fence about a PLD fitting. Delivery time was just about 3 weeks to the day.

Details please!

National Custom Works "Mid-Body" Robertson

358g

Face balanced

36.25" w/ BGT black tour stability shaft

Finish is "sexual chocolate" a forced patina.

This is a little wider vs. a traditional Robertson - which is NCW's anser - but it is much slimmer vs. a widebody blade.

Putter feels/sounds very much like a traditional milled putter and I can't really tell the difference.

Feels and rolls great. I was fitted for 2 degrees of loft so I used that as a great excuse for a new custom project as everything else I had was 3-4 degrees.

Overall I love it and it was really cool seeing sketches on a piece of paper come to life. Don't see it leaving the bag anytime soon...except for maybe the other NCW mallet that is currently in the works - a true WRX'er

Seems like those are for completely different strokes. Is it hard going back and forth between the two?

Definitely agree, they are very different putters for very different strokes. I just got back to the game after a 4 year hiatus from messing my back up. So I’ve been tinkering with gear as to what fits me best. I putted with scotty’s for years before taking the break and I just feel I’m at a point in my life where I want some forgiveness in my putter. I’m not bashing scotty’s in any way. But if you hit a bad putt, you know right away with his design. I’m rebuilding my bag for forgiveness this trip and rolled the dice on an eas. Really dug the look of it, love the double bend shaft, the face design, and being a machinist, I love tinkering so I grabbed the weight kit with it. But I honestly love the 5 gram weight and light weight feel of the eas. I can be more aggressive in my stroke with forgiveness, which really appeals to me.

"Shirtsleeve" swing technique:

1. Setup: Elbows bent forearms pressed together against shaft slightly forward of center with "Hogan" "active/flexed" leg tension left foot turned out slightly and the right leg slightly farther to the right - weight mostly on balls of feet butt of left hands sits on the top of the grip with very light grip.

2. Swing - W/o disturbing weight distribution of legs and feet lower hands while doing a forward press "swing trigger" then the left upper arm takes over on the backswing, it needs to go out in front of the body then back in front of the chest as the hands trace down initially then up to over the right shoulder "Torres". The goal is to not disturb the pressure of the feet during the initial takeaway.

Notes:

1. Only swing thought after swing trigger - extend left arm at shirt sleeve when reaching left hand over right shoulder "Shirtsleeve technique".

2. The upper left arm move "Shirtsleeve technique" can be practiced independently without a club, sitting down for instance

3. The correct feet tension can be felt by doing very short hops on the balls of the feet then holding the same feeling of pressure on the front of the feet and then taking three practice swings with the grip very loose in order to not disturb the same pressure on the feet and on the 3rd swing actively do the "Shirtsleeve" move. From there the swing should be done within a matter of seconds to not lose the feel of the legs resisting, this way this is not a learned technique as much as it is a setup technique.

I guess I did not realize that Edels were a more “forgiving” putter vs a standard toe hanging blade. I just thought they were built for the opposite stoke to minimize arc. That’s interesting that they offer forgiveness too.

That’s a stunner. Is yours counterbalanced? I know that Hovi has his at 36” with a counterbalance grip - if you can get that setup, then I may just be about to empty the bank account!

My 8802 copy arrived. It is a cast of the original and they didn't finish it too well so I spent and hour filing, sanding and polishing it with a brillo pad. The good thing is that it putts similar to the original and looks so good behind the ball I feel like my putting can only improve.

Mine is not counterbalanced. I went 36" because I'm tall and was showing better numbers than with a 35" putter. However, I did have a heavy Evnroll gravity grip on my last putter and may go back to something similar in the future. I've got a fat, PING version of a the SS 3.0 (can't recall the official name of it) on the PLD now but I've only played 2 rounds with it. I'm not married to any grip -- I will change it without too much overthinking. So far I'm loving the putter though.

I just bought the LAB 2.1. Went with the Accra X Lab for the softest feel. So far so good. It doesn’t matter where I hit it on the face… the distance is pretty consistent regardless of impact point.
