Tour Pros Taking Off Glove In Between Shots

I take it off because I don't need a ridiculous glove tan to go with my stupid hobbit foot tan line. I will hang mine off the cart to try and dry it - that's golf in the tropics for you!

What's all this about?

Earlier this year Ian Poulter exaggerated an event. Calling rookie hideki Matsuyama an idiot. It amounted to a bunch of bullying in the end.
Poulter would've never done this for any other player.

I do it because I use a Tour issue glove...

When it's not too hot I notice I leave it on. Once the weather warms up and my hand starts to sweat under the glove, I take it off in between shots. Generally in the warm weather I don't wear it for putting, or chipping. Not sure why.

I couldn't care less about a tan line on my left hand. I generally am putting it on as I approach my ball, so it doesn't add any time to my pre-shot routine.

What I notice about the pros is how carefully the arrange the fingers of the glove and fold the thumb over just so, before placing it precisely in the back pocket. Mine just gets stuffed somewhere, so when I pull it out all of my tees and ball markers and punch mark fixer go all over the ground. By the time I reach the 5th hole I have to replace all of that stuff I started with.

FORE RIGHT!!!!

Yeah I wear the glove pretty much for shot's only. Comes off any other time. For lots of reasons, many have which been mentioned. But also I ride a lot so usually have bottle of water and a snack in the cart. Just easier to grab stuff sans glove. Plus then the glove doesn't get all jacked up.

Stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway.

Not sure why it's been bugging me lately, but I've been noticing that many Tour Pros take their glove off in between shots. Does anyone have any insight on why? Maybe it's common sense but I'm missing that as to this issue.

I've always taken mine off after every shot. Less tan lines and keeps glove from getting too wet from sweat.

Ok, this is kinda off topic, but amusing to me none the less...

Playing with brother-in-law yesterday, he is new to golf, playing his 3rd round. I use my glove on all full shots over 100 yards, but never inside 100. He asked me why I used the glove sometimes and not others. I told him I only used the glove when I had an even number yardage to the flag and an odd number yardage required no glove. Had him going for about 4 holes, until my wife, who was riding along, pointed out that it was odd that I never had an odd number to the flag from outside 100 yards, but always odd inside it.

Maybe you had to be there for this to be funny.

Back on topic, I use it outside of 100 yards, but take it off immediately after swinging so I don't have a wet glove from sweat. Sometimes, in cold weather, I do leave it on.

I think I am going to wear it driving to the golf course and in the parking lot and clubhouse next week, just to see the looks I get.

Pro tourney.... 6 hour rounds....

I'd probably change into shorts and eat a sandwich between shots.

Btw I take mine off on long rounds too, keeps the sweat down, plus a like my gloves pretty tight and it can get uncomfortable.

Mine are worn from the first tee to the last unless I stop at a tee house or break at the nine for the clubhouse. I use one of those new material gloves that only stretch a little when soaked, and I like a slightly tight fit so taking it off and on is a chore. With the old school goat skin I carried a few gloves to change to on hot days but this new stuff is so much better.

I have heard that a lot of guys use it as a mental trigger. Glove off- chill out and walk. Glove on- time to concentrate.

might get me in trouble putting and chipping >>>
