looking for best practice facility in thailand

tinytim

Recommended Posts

want to spend upcoming winter in thailand to,practice every day 5+ hours but cant find any infos about facilities.

when intees up in bkk i remember a lot of courses dont even have a range.

using some of the dricingnranges in town isnt a good idea, shoúld be good real turf.

i expect fast putting greens, good bunkers and a long range, which is affordable to get my game sharp within 6 months.

if somebody has infos please let me now

thanks

Not sure if you're still looking for the answers. But yes, most of the courses do not have a driving range, and even if they have, it's often not real glass.

One place i could think of right now is a range in Panya Indra golf course, with putting green and a real turf range; the only problem is you have to hit the ball into a lake, (floating ball).
i have my own trackman. floating balls arent acceptable ;)
U know anytjing about blackmountain? they offer parttime memberships ?
i lived in TH for 2 years, speak slightly language, so i think about to go down to HH, get a cheap apartment or condo and hangaround in that area.
Must be nice to have your own trackman! I'm jealous!
Around Hua Hin I've only played Palm Hills, fun course and very fast greens.

I know there is a range but I don't actually know if it's real turf or not. We were short on time so couldnt warm up that time.
I know membership for 1 year is only 30000 baht so it might be worth checking out. Maybe you can even make some sort of half year deal or something like that.
If you want to play a round sometimes when you are here shoot me a PM. I'm usually in Bangkok but occasionally go out to places like Hua Hin. I'm not very good though (14hcp) but I can keep pace and I like to think I'm not a complete drag to play with ;)
well, blackmountain only offers membership if you purchase a real-estate at their place, thats why its "so cheap". i know they have some touringpros staying there. maybe i can get in touch with them.
i let you know when i'm there.

did you play windmill summit in bangkok? love that course.
Wait I'm confused. I was talking about membership at Palm Hills. I don't think they require real estate purchase. At least I can't find anything about that on their website. I wouldn't know about Black Mountain since I've never been there, but it wouldn't surprise me since that is one of the more 'upscale' clubs around afaik.

I have not played windmill summit but i'll be sure to check it out!
ahh i thought you mean BlackMountain, where realestate is requrired.

go and check windmill. they also offer nightgolf , starting around 18.00 which is a nice experience. just from the middletees due limited flood light. but pretty nice.
Cool, will do!

Black Mountain at Hua Hin definitely have a range where you can hit off grass instead of mats. Its very pricey there though. In and around Pattaya nearly all the courses have a range built on them. Cheaper than living in Bangkok and not as busy.

which courses in pattaya can you recommend?
i need a range with good balls a nice (fast!) puttinggreen and a pitchinggreen, at least 60yards.
never been in pattaya in my 2years over there. i always thought that place is avoidable. but i know nothing about golf in there.
the problem is, that courses never talk about practice facilities. and we all know the thais. of course, every facility has the best practice area countrywide, if not worldwide ;)

really a mess to get informations.

so the decision is done:

ill go to bangna area, east samut prakhan bangkok.

11 courses within 40 minutes, cheap housing and easy to get from the airport. so i can drop at the airport, find a cheap small apartment to stay and play golf everyday somewhere and practice.

even pattaya isnt that far from there, just 40min down with taxi, so lots of more golfcourses to play.

who wants to join me?

im down there middle september till march, april or may.

Have a look at the Pattaya Sports Club homepage they list just about every course around here, sports club members also get a discount on green fees. I think a years membership is around 1000 baht. All 3 Siam Country Club courses are high class, Burapha, Khao Keow, Lamchabang, Phoenix Golf are all high end and price. Eastern Star, The Emerald, Green Valley, Silky End(?) and St Andrews 2000 are all close by. We are kind of spoilt for golf here.
Range with good balls might be hard to find. A guy on the Asian Development Tour where I practice has his own balls marked up with his name that he uses. Try getting hold of TPR Golf Academy in Pattaya. Its owned and run by a Swiss Guy. Him and a English Pro teach there, they might be able to put you in contact with low handicappers to play with.
Night time in Pattaya is avoidable just stay away from certain areas. They are trying to clean it up here and a lot more families seem to be holidaying here.

Thana City sounds good for first to practice, they also have a gym. Its roughly 700 for a flatrate day , so you can spend a nice 8 hours practice day there.
i will give all courses a try. bangpoo and windmill are poor practice facility, windmill not having a range and bangpoos range is just sad. (but you hit real balls, found on the course^^)

thonburi is far out, but we can meet and play bestoceans together. its more far out. i lived before in sathorn and bangkapi (ramkamhaeng). everything between i have great informations about everything.

ill pm you if i arrived

maybe we can make some wrx stuff in thailand. always looking for playing/practice partners to compete with

now looking for apartments/Condos at middle of theparak road. those max 15.000thb are way enough. away from sukumvit downtown, everything gets cheaper :)

700 flatrate sounds pretty good. Funny how a range membership for 1 month costs 25000 baht, it's actually cheaper to just buy a daypass every day.. Lol

Best Ocean looks nice but very challenging, better bring enough balls ;) I hope you don't mind me teeing forward, I have no illusions I'm good enough to play 7100 yards, especially when it's so tight like that course seems to be.

15000 should get you a very decent condo. My girlfriend and I pay 12000 and we are pretty close too silom, just on the other side of the river, and that's including parking spot, gym and swimming pool.

well, thats over the ocean... everything past (left) the river is cheaper, and everything after ~thonglor (sukumvit 55) is dropping drastically too. good for me

yup, 700 for daily pass is pretty cool. the yearly flatrate is 50k, monthly flatrate is 25k. as we both now, thats classic thailogic.
ill go and hopefully negotiate it down to 500 so i can go there 4 times a week to practice and play 3 or 4 times a week somewhere.

enough golf i guess

My usual practice range is at Thonburi too.

I used to be a member at Muangkaew, Panya Indra, Windmill and Sawang resort, but now their prices are getting insanely high so I mostly play at Krisada and Thana City sometimes.
