Wearing a watch during golf???

I'm lost without a watch on at all time. The only time I take my watch off is when I go to bed and set it on my night stand. I have a small watch collection and my go to golf watch is a casio g-shock with solar charging and atomic time keeping. Never have to change the battery or reset the time...EVER. Right handed golfer, wear it on my left wrist and loosen the buckle one hole when I golf.

The only time you should wear a mechanical watch, is if you are sponsored by the company (Phil w/ Rolex, Bubba w/ Richard Mille). Otherwise, you are just going to put yourself in a position for a hefty repair bill.

I do wear my Bushnell GPS watch when I play, which is new to me this year. Left wrist, glove hand, and haven't had any issues. It is light and comfortable. After the round, I like to go to the Omega though...

Never. A watch tends to remind you of the future. A watch takes me out of the present moment, worrying about something that I might need to do later, instead of enjoying the moment on the course.

More of a jewelry accesory the[quote name='Sean2' timestamp='1404607847' post='9643693']
I haven't worn a watch in years. What with a cell phone I don't see the point.

More of a jewelry thing these days rather than an actual time keeper. Member at my club plays golf with his AP, in fact he spills beer over it sometimes at the bar ~____~.

Personally i cant swing with the weight of a watch on my wrist, it just throws my timing off, even the very light sports watches - but i guess if you're wearing one of those a phone does the same job.

You know, some people fall for the marketing gimmicks of companies
like Rolex. You'd think they are Taylormade or something. This watch
loses 17 more seconds than it's nearest competition but it makes you
look like a renaissance man! ;)

Kidding aside I only wear a watch when I'm playing and that would be
my Garmin GPS watch. I'm addicted to it on the course plus it makes
me look all serious when I'm consulting it, like a real golfer. :)

I first saw one of those when someone I was playing a round of golf with had one. At first I thought he was constantly checking the time. :-)

Ya, he looked important, like he had appointments pressing on
him and all....but he was really thinking "8 iron or 7 iron?".

I'm a lefty, but I've worn my watch on my left wrist since I was in a radio spelling bee in the eighth grade. The radio announcer thought he was cute by telling the world about my left handedness, by remarking that I wore a watch on my right wrist. Then he touted himself as an amateur detective. The jerk thought he was Sherlock Holmes, discoursing on the subject of my left handedness. Somewhat embarrassing to a 13 year old.

I came in second in the bee, lost on the word mucilage. Said MUS, before I thought about it.

Don't wear a watch for golf, though. Keep it in the pocket of my bag, in a little freebie zipper bag.

Play well, with or without a watch!

I used to wear a watch. Never took it off. But after a hefty repair bill no longer do. I'm convinced automatic/wound watches are not meant to take the shock on a continuous basis.

my older brother told me this when he noticed I was wearing a nice automatic watch that he gave me while I was about to walk out of the house to play a round. I switched to a g-shock afterward but when I lost it, I stopped wearing a watch all together.

Either way, I didn't really notice I had a watch on when I was playing.

I wear a quartz analogue diver's type watch virtually all the time. Take it off in the shower as I don't want hot water on it. It's a largish heavy stainless steel one, but I don't notice it on my wrist when playing golf. I do, however, wear an oversized Nike sweat band over the watch to stop it sliding about on my left wrist (glove hand). Seldom actually look at the watch on the golf course, except to check the tee time if practising first on the range or golf arena. Never had any problems mechanically with the watch and leaving it on means less chance of loosing it somewhere on the course.

I wouldn't wear my other watch, which is a self winding analogue watch, as too easily damaged and I really only wear it for special occasions.

I have previously badly damaged a quartz analogue Seiko watch when using a heavy duty SDS hammer drill to drill holes in a concrete floor. Shock/vibration was just too much for the poor thing! Watch always comes off now, before doing any such work.
