Seriously who buys golf clothes off the rack?

theres different sellers for different things. Ie some sellers are better for shoes, others shirts. Some are more brand specific; ie Cobra, Puma, etc. Best thing to do is go to ebay, search for something you like, the search completed listings. You'll see what they go for, click on that sellers other auctions. Thats how I found a bunch of Puma tech shorts for $25.

The power sellers everyone mentions usually sell more than one and take VERY similar photos..

Lastly, you have to have some patience and committment.

Being a Prime member, I buy almost all my UA shirts from Amazon. This season, I've picked up nearly 30 Performance Polos for anywhere between $39 and $52.

I work in a pro shop and we sell upwards of 100 polos a month, usually more. People still pay retail for sure
I mentioned earlier in this discussion that i typically shop TJ Maxx, or hit the box stores after the season is over. However, I will pay retail for an embroidered logo polo in a pro shop after playing a new course and very much enjoyed my time.

I got to play Oakmont a couple years ago, and dropped some serious coin in the pro shop there - I'd gladly do it again!

Golf clothes are so expensive I rarely see anyone buy them for full price. $75 for pants $70 for shirts who pays that. I myself wait for sales or Ross or Marshall or lately not even worry about name brand anymore. I dress nice believe me but it doesn't take 300 get up to do that (including shoes)

When there's no golf to be played in the winter, I check out eBay & sort through the 20 "golf deals" I get via email every day.

I bought 30 new Golf Shirts on eBay this past winter ... usually around $16 for my favorite golf shirts ever, the Cleveland Classic.

My best deal was 6 pairs of Greg Norman pants, for $100. You couldn't pick your colors. I ended up getting (2) 100% cotton Norman Khakis, my Pro Shop sells for $110 each.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as far as buying from the web goes? I have some stuff from Global Golf coming, but it's still a little on the pricier side I think. 2 pairs of pants and two shirts ran around 180.

eBay if you know the good legit sellers. Brand new tagged clothes.
Bingo.

I bought 10 Adidas ClimaCool shirts about two weeks ago for $175 total. They'll last me a good few years and I can wear them to work.

I'm amazed that clothes in places like Golfsmith are just so expensive.

You can't trust the tags. I order all my football(soccer) shirts from a Chinese seller I've gotten to know over the years. They all come with the tags on. Even from brands like umbro when I buy England shirts.

However, they're just fake tags. Very nicely done though. I have never had an issue with the fakes.

I've done it a few times. I find different brands sizing fits me differently. I can wear a Nike M golf shirt and it will fit well depending on the product line. I cannot wear an Adidas M without it looking like I tried to paint it on and I'm not entirely thrilled with the fit of their L. Same goes with pants which again I find Adidas runs a bit small. I did however get everything (except a rain jacket) 30+% off at a local store. I'm not in a huge golf shopping area though so I order most of my things of ebay and amazon and have them shipped to the MN border.

Wally World has some great stuff. It's crazy. The hogan line is great, and the George line as well. The Russell athletic line is new to mine, and a couple of them look awesome. They have the dri power material that is really good stuff. They haven't had my size or I would have grabbed one.

Find a friend that has an account with nike then stock up and enjoy shirts and shorts around $30-$35 bucks at cost. Family member that works for under armour = 50% off retail.

I've had great luck with Budgetgolf.com and GlobaGolf.com for apparel. I commonly get Nike TW shirts for $40-$60 and Nike pants and shorts for less than $50-$60. I will buy a logo shirt when I play prestigious courses and they usually run $75-$125. I am usually entertaining customers so, the company is paying for the shirts/hats for my group. I guess traveling for work does have some advantages.

I get most of my golf clothes at J.C. Penneys. PGA Tour brand and rarely pay more than 20-25 for nice performance polos. They usually have Jack Nicklaus and Izod stuff as well. And Hagar Cool 18 are great golf slacks for about $35.

Maybe I'm taking us off in a bad direction, but still On-topic. What constitutes a great discount for us collectively? Let's take two common items listed in this thread:

1) Performance slacks or what we would consider "golfing slacks."

AND

2) Performance polo shirts -- i.e. polo shirts with a blend that is light or is not 100% cotton. The notorious "moisture wicking" materials.

What would be a true discount? I get that it's different for everyone. To me, $30-35 per pair of pants or per polo is close to true full price, regardless of whatever supposed discount the retailer posts on it.

I would say once we get to $20 or below per garment, then we're talkin'.

I've had good luck with some random eBay sellers by the way who had corporate-logoed golf shirts (overstock?) they were selling. Got two Nike FitDry (DryFit? can't ever remember) with random corporate logos on the breast for $8 shipped a piece!
