Seriously who buys golf clothes off the rack?

Recommended Posts

No one in their right mind is going to tell you the name of the eBay store they use for deals. Otherwise, everyone else will start going there and stealing all the great deals. That being said, i will tell you guys to go to www.teegolfclub.com

I buy all my Nike Clothes from there (non tour stuff). For tour stuff i uses GCPickers. Tee Golf is generally at least 15% - 25% off retail, sometimes more. No sales tax and free shipping. The only drawback is the pictures they use aren't always the best quality, so i typically check other sites to find what i want, then go to their site to buy it.

If anyone in this thread is that uptight that they're concerned that they need to keep all of the merchandise from an eBay users store private to themselves, then they pretty much deserve all the lost balls they get in life. I mean the eBay user is presumably advertising their deals so couldn't some dumb plebian member on eBay swoop in and steal all the deals on golf apparel that is the WRX members solemn birthright?

Except for the stuff I get as gifts for my BDAY and Christmas, anything I buy is at Marshall's(Hilfiger & Lauren), Gabe''s(Cally, Ping & Bobby Jones) and Steinmart(Lauren, Flusser & Bobby Jones) for shirts and slacks. I also hit the Bobby Jones outlet in the late fall & early January before I would head south.

I used to do Dick's for the Hagen shirts though since they dumped the Pros, I wouldn't step foot in one.

Unless its an amazing shirt, I couldn't see dropping retail coin on it.

I only buy from the pro shop when I have too much in pro shop credit and I'm flush with $50 per dozen golf balls…LOL…Ebay and end of season are the only way to buy current trends.

Golf clothes are so expensive I rarely see anyone buy them for full price. $75 for pants $70 for shirts who pays that. I myself wait for sales or Ross or Marshall or lately not even worry about name brand anymore. I dress nice believe me but it doesn't take 300 get up to do that (including shoes)
[/quote]

Amen! I see Puma pants or Nike selling for $110.00 plus tax, shirts $75 for simple one colour, no pattern. I'm not spending $200 for a pair of pants and a shirt that I will only wear on the golf course. Hey if I was loaded and didn't have to worry about that then what the hell, why not! But that is a luxury I don't have. I agree it seems crazy to spend that but lets face it some people love golf and want the newest stuff and if they can afford it thats awesome for them. I have no problem buying shirts, shoes, pants belts and hats all on sale or even from a "cheaper" company. If I like the look of something I'll buy it even if its a no name brand.

The only think I have paid full price for are shoes and Oakley Take 3.0 pants. I bought two pair at 75 bux, as they had them in my size and are incredible. I will not that I bought four other pair of Oakley pants for a combined amount of 150... 1 from the vault, two from the bay, and one pair from Amazon.

Honestly don't think I ever have and I have a closet full of Puma and Nike shirts. There's a Nike outlet 5 min from my work that gets too much of my money. I have gotten numerous pairs of pants and shorts for $15-24, and numerous polos for $25. There are so many websites out now that offer deals on golf clothes that buying off the rack or at the course is just foolish. Sites like eBay(obviously), Kingdom59.com, Rock Bottom, etc, etc. all offer the current clothing lines at discount prices.

I believe Gabes is short for Gabriels. I don't know of any in my area, but there used to be one about 5 miles from me some years ago. Also, there was/is one in Youngstown, OH. They sell some wild stuff. Brand name clothes at a fraction of retail, sometimes goods are so badly damaged that it's actually funny.

I recall buying a couple green cotton golf vests with the Kiawah emblem for .50 each. The lot had a horizontal fade line across the middle in the front of the vest. I repeatedly washed the vests until the fade line became less noticeable. They were actually great vests, and I wore them until tattered. Funny, I actually got many compliments from people.

Play and wear well!

Gotcha. I love the ping line. Just can't find them anywhere except online. And even then there aren't many places outside eBay.

I also hit the outlets from time to time. I've found great deals on Nike, UA, Oakley and Adidas.

I just stopped by my local Edwin Watts and they had some Nike Dri Fit shorts on their clearance rack. $60 shorts marked down to $29.99, normal colors too like black, gray and tan. They rang up at $19.99…

Ebay & Burlington. At Burlington I picked up a pair of Nike Dri-FIT Tech shorts ($65) shorts, brand new with tags for $25. Ebay is also a great place, just watch out for good sellers.

If you have a PGA superstore near you, they carry the ping line. I have 2 or 3 Ping shirts and they aren't bad. I just prefer Nike as my preference.

I am one of those guys that are hard to fit because I am so big. Also being a big guy there are certain patterns i cant pull off. I usually go to a store here called Burke's outlet. They usually have larger clothes that fit me but i have to catch them right. Depends on the brand. In my sizes they do have a lot of PGA Tour brand, Nicklaus. Sometimes I do find Norman or Ping stuff. I will usually have money put back for this and I usually get $60 shirts for around $15 or so pants the same way. there is also a local SC owned store called Hamrick's that has large overruns. Sometimes I get lucky at the Goodwill and hit it good on clothes that fits me. A few years ago I hit it extremely lucky I was invited to play at one of the better courses with some visitors. They were buying shirts for keepsakes. The pro called me off to the side and asked me "big guy what size are you?" I told him he had 4 shirts that he had not sold that fit me and sold me all of them for $20 each these were $75 shirts. usually when I hit the jackpot i will buy enough shirts shorts and pants to last me a couple of years or so
