(now) illegal grip

I've seen more than a few old putters with those old taper at the top grips.

some clubs with Silhouette grips, too.

the question is, WWSD ?

(what would Stu do?)

Play it Play it screw the USGA--- One thing I would not have done was clean it up but (shrug) I like rust and patina

funny you mention that Stu,

I was walking past my BeCu bag last night and spotted this Mac 314 putter.

forgot I had it. almost disappeared in there because I hadn't cleaned it up.

so....turned it into this.

then realized I have too many, a bunch of the same style.

see what a long winter makes a fella do ?

Nice putter.

Yeah but it still has bag dings which gives it credibility in my book. Every 8802 style I have has lead tape on the back flange. It does 2 things adds weight I need to begin with and cuts summer glare on the back flange. The only one of that style that does not have lead tape is the JN 100 Randy gave me. The 2 times I gamed it I put adhesive tape on the back flange to cut the glare

Picked this Tad Moore up.

Do not know anything about the TM head but I would venture it has to be good with Tad Moore's name on it--- I do know for a fact that Penley is one hell of a shaft

I actually like the mallet without the ferrule. Is it center balanced or heel/toe?

. I have no idea.

it's easy to figure out. Balance the club in the balance point of the shaft on one finger, if the face of the putter points to the ceiling its face balanced. If the toe drops, it's toe balanced.

But, what if the face points to the floor?

then it's my wife, ticked off at the thought of more clubs coming home.

Picked up this 1958 Wilson Merion since it is all original and is a perfect match for my 58 Dyna-Powered’s I just picked up. Solid brass head that is mostly chrome plated, less the sweet spot.

great looking flatstick, and fancy ferrule to boot.

nice find.

When it comes to golf clubs, I don’t believe in monogamy. If something catches my eye, I don’t care what the brand is. :D

No never found a sw. I bought a 59 Dyna-Powered pw to use with my Hogan’s as I needed a 52* club. I had heard such great things about the 58/59 Wilson irons I thought I’d give it a try.

Well, I liked the shape and feel of the 59 wedge so much I decided to get the entire set of 58’s off eBay. I’m really loving them. Great clubs. And while it would be cool to find the matching original 58 sw, I’m really happy with my Hogan Special Sand Iron.

As for woods, not really interested in the Wilson woods. My Mac’s or Stan Thompson’s go in the bag and I’m happy with both.

similar thoughts.

never had played any Wilson sticks before the DP SW. .

fleshing out a Staff set because of that one club.

searching out the missing six iron and the bag will be complete.

thrill of the hunt.

best to you.

I've been getting more into the true heel shafted blade, Calamity Jane style putters, so I bought this lot of 5 of them on ebay. Got them for a song.

Wright and Ditson St. Andrew's

Wilson Olympiad

Spalding RTJ Kro-Flite

Golfcraft Roy Hunter

Wilson Pathfinder ladies

My favorite is the Wright and Ditson. So clean from address.

Staff FG-17 six iron, TT Dynamic R shaft is what I'm seeking.

have an extra five iron in Dynamic S to trade if someone needs.

I have a Staff 6-iron, but it is not the FG-17

But, I'll keep my eyes open for one for you

I'm still watching for the five and nine irons you mentioned last week.

many thanks.

I had a RTJ putter just like that one that I sold to a friend. When I asked him if I could buy it back it had been lost in a house fire. That was before I started playing that style of putter (in my moderern bag too). That was such a fun old putter, I wish I’d kept it.
