Bridgestone Lady Precept

New balls are really expensive here so I buy used balls from the ball boys.

What they have for sale depends on what the tourist are playing.

My ball of choice is Titleist Pro V.

 

Anyway I played really bad on Thursday and for a joke I used a Bridgestone Lady Precept

on Sunday. Surprise surprise. It's a nice ball.

I didn't adjust any clubs into greens and the distance was the same as Pro V's.

I backed up a few shots into the greens and one was with a 7 iron. I like my chip shots

to release a little regardless of the ball I play and these were perfect. I liked the way they

felt putting. Solid ball. After 18 holes, playing a few fairway and green side bunker shots,

the ball was still in very good shape. No scrapes or discoloration.

You aren't the first person to find out this little secret. Monte, who is a frequent poster here, instructor and Former World Champ longer driver has been talking them up for a while on this forum. I could personally never do the pink ones though.

Used to really like the Precept U-Tri Tours as well as the Lady Precept. Never tried a Laddie though. I thought they were decent also.

U Tri Tours were good balls. Lady Precepts were big on the senior circuit for a while.

No. The UTri was the predecessor to the B330/S.

The Precept Lady was so popular years ago because there weren't many low compression solid core balls at the time. Most solid core balls at the time were high compression with a rock hard surlyn cover.

Now the majority of 2-piece surlyn balls have similarly low compression and cover hardness to the Lady. The only thing this ball has going for it is nestalgic hype from a different time.

Tried the Lady Precept after reading what Monte said. Much ado about nothing, imo.

The U Tri Tours are a different story. One of the best balls I've ever hit.

I believe the Precept Laddie is the same ball as the Precept Lady. It was produced with a different name so men wouldn't feel strange about using it.

I used the play the Laddie quite often. Fantastic ball for the money.

[/quote]They still make both, at least here we have both. Diff. balls, I have played them. Laddie feels harder, more dense than the Lady.

I think the original Laddie (the ones sold today are different) was the one that was a man's version of the original Lady. They may have been more similar when the Laddie was first released.

Disclaimer: I'm no golf ball expert. Just going on what I remember hearing way back then. Sometimes my memory isn't the greatest.

I loved the MC Lady. Great ball for cheap! I had no issues playing a 'Lady ball'.

Correct. The original Laddie was just the MC Lady rebranded for men. The later Laddie Extreme (believe it is the Laddie X now) was completely different, just your typical hard 2-piece surlyn ball.

[/quote]Might be the case but the B330s, specifically the RX play differently for me. I have a stash of U Tri Tours that I started the season with. Went to the B330 Tour, got a sleeve of B330 RX and played a sleeve of E6. My driver SS is high 80s/low 90s with an index of 11. The dimple design of the B330s kept draws from becoming hooks as opposed to the U Tri Tours that seemed to love to move right to left. While the Tour is too hard for me, the ball stays on line for me. Just doesn't go as far. The RX is probably the ball for me. The e6 feels the same as the U Tri Tour to me and since I have a couple of dozen left, I won't be buying the e6s any time soon.

The UTri Tour was directly replaced by the original 3-piece B330 line. By the time the RX was released, the B330 was on the 3rd generation which was a 4-piece and closer to the current B330 than the original.

I think this may have originated as the Precept Laddie golf ball. Many low handicappers here in Colorado, including a past PGA Tour Pro, are constantly asking me for them (golf balls land in my backyard....lots of them). I was told the Laddie is no longer in production. Precept (a Bridgestone company) golf balls are manufactured in China (I believe), although Bridgestone has recently moved most of their golf ball facilities to the USA (gotta admire that!!). The Precept MC Lady appears to be very similar.

Anyone know if the MC Lady is basically the same ball?

Don't know about playing the pink ones? When I'm not playing well I pull an old pink Flying Lady out of my bag....this grounds me.....I lighten up and usually start playing better.....despite constant insults from my "buddies". Try it!

Do they still make these? I was horsing around at my local par 3 last night and got a hole-in-one with a pink Lady Precept. And today, while practicing with a 64* Sure Out I just got, this one ended up near the hole a lot. Feels kinda rubbery is my only complaint.

Upside to this ball.: Only guy in my Wednesday retiree league that would be playing them. No special markings needed.
