**UPDATED NOV 2020** The Dr’s bag | New TSI Woods | Titleist MB 620 | ***

Recommended Posts

Been shorting my drivers, because that was always what I thought I should do. But going to try some 45 - 45.25" options, when first get the clubs, they are just great at 45 or slightly greater lengths, after some historical review, I always cut them down, b.c. my thinking was if their good at 45" or a little longer, they'll be awesome at 44.5" and then I struggle - idiotic "logos" on my part.

after many years(last played Great Big Bertha / Steelheads) I have a callaway club coming my way; X2 Hot Pro 8.5* ; completely blind purchase

Not sure what shaft to couple the head with, forerunners are my two favorites Fujikura Tour Spec 70x, and AD DI 8x.

The X2 Hot Pro, IMO, was their best driver in the last two years. It flew completely under the radar because of all the hype around the Big Bertha. The previous Razr Fit Extreme and X Hot Pro weren't nearly as good as the X2 either. Looks, feel, and numbers, I think you'll like the X2. With all the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, I'm tempted to finally pick one up myself, but am sort of disinterested in golf in general now (this is typical for me once cold weather sets in).

Now me liking it is a self fulling prophecy , but hearing this from another member makes me feel better. about 5 g of hotmelt, Fujikura Fuel Shaft 70x tipped an inch, im hoping for fairway and distance heaven.

I got my 400cc stage 2 today! And I will be hitting it pretty soon! I have it shafted with a oban kiyoshi. How does the proto stage 2 compare to the sldr in forgiveness??

The moi on the s2 proto is def higher than the sldr thus easier to hit. I got low spin with the proto head also, coupled with an ad di 8x. 2200-2500 ish

Though I added about 12g of hot melt to the bottom center

I got to hit a bucket and play 18 with the stage 2 proto shafted up with a oban kiyoshi purple 75 05 flex. Man this thing is excellent. Very easy to work both ways. And it's loooooong. It was mid/high launch but got some pretty good role even on our soft December fairways. Now let's hope it's not the honeymoon! And I may paint the crown matte black.

Get to hit it yet? I need to get me one of those.
Yes, and with just a Tour Green 65g X flex at std length. Actually doesn't sound bad and the feel is good, launch is in 10-14 department, and BS I was getting (trackman) around 165mph +/- higher lower occasionally , 2200-2800 (my AOA kinda sucked 0 to -5., about 3.5 from the inside) spin, couple higher and lower in there but that's the indian not the arrow. Pretty Straight driving club, again that's more of the operator.

If I could hit up on the freaking ball more, that club would be a bomber.

The Looks are really good, that matte grey, NO graphics and the 440 is nice, actually looks kinda small at address.

Head weight is low, at 192 grams - going to at Hot Melt to about 200 to 202, Fujikura Fuel 70x Tour Spec (which I freq @ 280)

***One note, this is JUST MY OPINION, and I tend to miss on the toe, this driver is more forgiving than others on toe shots***
The new mp4s are awesome, had a set of mp63s, the changes in the short irons are great. The customizations avail from mizzy to get the specs just right are a cut above the rest IMOP , less you get into muira etc, the specs are spot on esp the swing weight

Got some re shafting to do, drivers at 45.25 to 45.5

Fuji doesn't make my orange and white color any more I.e Virginia tech colors :-) which I was disappointed, BUT, happy to learn the shaft will dawn the folds of honor branding, with a portion going to the charity

love the Ping Anser driver. It's a beast.
Its the original gangster low spin driver in my opinion. There are times where I wish I had not sold out of ping - I really struggle to buy from them due to their staffer bubba.

But the bag has gotten a fairly significant overhaul since,

What may 2015 bring

Driver - still testing for the best combo: Leader right now is the RBZ Stage 2 Proto 400cc head with a AD DI 8x
Biggest change, I need to go to a longer length - @ 44.5 " I tend to come a bid outside in, vs 45.25", I am pretty consistent at 3-3.5* inside out.
Contenders
X2 Hot Pro 8.5* w/ Fujikura Fuel TS 70x shaft
SLDR 8* 10g of hot melt to the rear of the club - shaft TBA
R15? 430? Evolution TS 757 -specs are very close to one of my favorite shafts The Fuji Fuel

Woods - RBZ S2 Tour issue heads, have these coupled with a Rombax P95s, about as good as it gets for me
Change - going to lengthen the woods by .5"
Toying around with the Callaway X2 hot fws, hard to compare because of the shaft differences , like the deep face on the 3 deep
Low Low probability of change here

Irons - biggest change - went back to Mizuno - MP4's(traditional lofts, 48* wedge) from the MB 712s (not that these clubs weren't great)
Switch iron shafts to c Taper X, had trouble getting the MB712s to the swing weight I wanted
Also from 6iron down, only .25" difference
No change on the iron set for 2015

Wedges - still playing my TVD SM5's - 54 and 60*
Changed out the shafts, went to C Taper X ssx1 time and about 1" long (PW - 60*) almost all the same length - short game has never been better
Also went with Lamkin Crossline midsize in the wedge grips
No changes planned in 2015 for wedges, sans club damage

Putter - Ping anser (with pingman grip )redwood has dominated this spot for a short bit. I think I like the 303 stainless feel, but more the Full offset, my Kingston putter is awesome, for some reason with the putter I putt better with the full offset?
I did go to 35.5" length, and helped my putting greatly
Change for 2015 would be for some sort of Bettinardi BB0, but would like level 10 clearance from my wife for purchase and green light on the Tinely Park Fitting, but the movie the "Interview" will get air time in North Korea before that happens

Yeah I think I am going to BST the head, its awesome, I really really hesitate, its the club Ive had my best driving days with. On the other hand, my weakness is driving, the BBA pro IMOP will give me the most adjustment possible without being in a Tour Trailer, and get the optimal set up. Still blows me away how low spin that proto 400cc head is.

Hitting a R15 the other day, I switched out the EVO TS shaft into the SLDR head, wow, nice nice combo, in my humble opinion I am high on that EVO TS shaft. Nice offering by TMAG as stock shaft.

Found that 2" from the top, I really like the feeling of (im a nerd Calibered the grips) about .94 to .96 round which equals

Crossline Full Cord Standard .580round

Woods, depending on the shaft diameter - 4 wraps on top, 5 on the bottom

Irons - .600 diameter shaft - 5 wrap top , 6 on the bottom

wedges - Midsized regular Crossline grips no wraps

The SLDR has yet to arrive but I'm looking forward to trying the stock 6.3 TS after playing the 6.2 TS for so long. Was originally thinking about the 757 but the specs on the EVO look even better. Same tip stiffness as the 6.3 TS but slightly stiffer butt section.

Can't go wrong with the Crossline cords. I liked the Utx as well but ultimately I think they're a little too soft. I've had my crossline cords on my mp4s for almost a year now and they still feel almost new. Could never say that about any of the Golf Pride grips I've used.
