Don't want to make a new thread since there seems to be a lot of TM Ghost Spider brain power in here, but I am loving my new Ghost Spider S putter (retail model). I could only get it in 35" and the 33" was too short. I hit both and found the feel in the head much much better in the 35" model so went with that (felt a lot more sturdy...like a point and shoot putter). Ideally, I'd like it to be 34" or 34.5". Would cutting it down 1" or 0.5" change the feel in my head at all....or is it all in my head lol?

OR should I not mess with it and leave it at 35"?

Also, is it normal the 35" would feel a lot more sturdy than the 33"?
Do you grip the 35" at the end or choke down? If you are gripping at the end try choking down an inch and see.

Cutting it down will change the SW. You can always change the weights.

If you do cut it down, try and save the grip. Red and black spider grip is hard to find.

Thanks for the info. It is the red/black spider grip that is very soft (same grip as Day is using), but I recently bought the black 2014 TM Ghost Tour Putter grip (a lot harder of a rubber) ...which to me feels better.

I now don't want to make the switch the old grip because of you haha...

Will any golf shop be able to salvage the old grip, or is that something I need to do myself?

Thanks.

Any big box store or club repair shop will be able to pull that grip for you. I guess the one I've had the most success with is a shop that uses a syringe and needle to inject solution and then pull the grip off. Less damage that way. But yes GolfSmith, Golf Galaxy should be able to pull that. And I'm not saying don't use another grip! Just don't ruin the original one!

Thanks again. Final question about cutting the club down and the change in SW. I noticed on the TM website that a factory TM Ghost Spider S has the same head weight (i think like 360g) regardless if its a 33" or a 35" inch. Does this mean these 2 clubs have different SW's?

Yes, the swing weight is different on these because all three lengths used the same heads and all the heads had 2g MWT weights.

I'm a bit late to this discussion, but my advice is that you absolutely should trim the putter to your desired length and then adjust from there. Putting with the wrong length putter is far more of a concern than having the feel change. Once you figure out the length you want, then you can add weight to bring the SW back up if that's what you want to do. I play my spiders at 33.75" and usually play with 8g weights to get the feel I want.

One more question, would weights like this be fine?

Your honest opinion?

I personally have no problem with these weights. The first one has a case with wrench, pairs of weights which is important and the most common ones used for putters.

I think that first one is perfect.

Just be careful when you tighten the weights, whether they're aftermarket or OEM. I stripped the threads in an older spider I had because I tightened one of the weights too much. There is certainly no need for the torque wrench to click on a putter. Just turn them until they're a little snug. They're not going anywhere.

I want to ask you T Mag putter gurus a question since I posted a thread on putters and did not get an answer. I have an old Rosa Daytona 1 not Tour Issue or any thing like it. A buddy of mine fished it out of a lake. I re shafted and re gripped it. Ended up setting the loft and lie for me never intending to use it. Ended up sitting good for me and outstanding feel. I ended up using it and putting the lights with it. What I am getting to is what does the agsi insert mean?

If you are asking what AGSI means then it is Anti-skid Groove System Insert. The AGSI inserts are Titallium faces with polymer filled grooves. Supposed to minimize backspin. When the polymer inserts contact the ball, they give so that the groove edges are exposed and create forward spin on the ball to reduce skidding and improve directional control and speed.

Great description! There are a few different AGSI inserts that were used all were trying to get the ball rolling on line and enhance the feel/feedback.

Great question!
Thank you so much that was the answer I was looking for. I did not know anything at all about those putters. I do know it has outstanding feel better than anything I ever used. I was experimenting today practice putting with some of my balls I have lines on for practice and I noticed the great roll better than any grooved or insert putter I have ever used. And like you said as advertised almost no skidding. I guess I got a hidden jewel. I wish I had discovered these putters long ago. Again thanks for your answer. I really did not care if it was exotic or not in fact it is right up my alley beat up and battle scarred

Thanks for your response too Ed I was just curious about what I had. The markings are Rosa Daytona 1 CGB AGSI--- I have another similar head like it but it does not have the insert or the little torx head screws in the back. I actually found that head in a box of stuff a friend gave me when he closed his golf shop.

Google isnt helping me very much so I have a couple questions. The milling on this KIA is different from any ive seen in person. It has some sort of horizontal lines across the face and the milling is more noticeable. Also the bird is stamped on the toe instead of the heel. Is there any significance to this and how much would a putter like this go for these days?

Welcome to the TaylorMade Tour Issue Rossa thread!! That is a sweet looking Kia Ma Monte Carlo you have there. That model Kia is carbon steel and face balanced.

As you noticed it has "triple milling" to the face. Much more agressive than the one pass milling of most of the retail models. The "Rossa Bird" is placed on these early models out on the toe. It was eventually moved to the heel in later releases. These are certainly early releases. Could be Tour Issue or Salesman Samples but still rare and collectable.

How is the condition? What grip is on it? And head cover?

Thanks for posting pictures. If you have other questions please ask.

The Rossa Spa is like a "Holy Grail" for TM putter collectors. That is great looking putter. The initials E.T. For Esteban Toledo? Is there a story to go along with it?

Yes they are for him, I have a certificate for it as well. Unfortunately no great story just happens to be his putter

The grip is not original nor the headcover. It has a rossa headcover and a win mid size PCItl pistol. The guy I got it from had no idea what it was. I paid $30 plus shipping. The listing had no mention of Kia-Ma and no mention of TP at all. I've found Kia's like this before by scrolling through lots of listings and looking at a ton of pics but never for that cheap. I wouldn't say it's beat up, but its been in somebody's bag for a couple seasons. It has a few dings, chips, and scuffs but the most noticable flaw is where the paint has been worn down under the face. Its pretty thin but its there. Its the very bottom of, kind of up under the face. What you would imagine from brushing the grass. Its on the heel side. I'm trying to be as accurate as I can here but its not that bad. Id say an 8/10 because its pretty clean on the top side. Its a great find. Thanks for the info!

Not tour issue, but a unique collection to say the least. Along with my gamer a Kia Ma Maranello, which surprisingly has only one other post in this thread. IMO one of the prettiest putters out there with its tiny heal to toe length.

Just a quick reminder, the black Kia Ma models are all made out of carbon steel. The model released here in the United States had a milled face and no insert. The same model was released in Japan, and those putters came with a steel insert. It was firm but still had some of the forward roll technology of the AGSI insert. The later silver Kia Ma putters were made out of stainless steel. And the retail version of those had a red Titallium insert. There are examples of tour issue putters of this model that are milled face with no insert. And of course several models, again tour issue with the script Rossa name in the back cavity instead of a badge.

Kia Ma still works in the Ghost Lab in Carlsbad. He works with Sergio, Justin Rose, Jason Day to just name a few. And occasionally, he comes out and talks to normal people too!

This last picture shows the Steel AGSI insert and Kia's personalization of my putter.
