I hit all the Nike drivers and the new TaylorMades at a demo Saturday. It was super windy, and I hit the flex (with the weight back) very straight through the wind. I was impressed, and it beat all the others. I tried it with the weight to low, and I couldn't get enough spin to keep it in the air.

Nike’s new Vapor Speed driver designed and built to Tiger Woods’s specifications will be available for purchase for the first time in limited quantities.

 

“Stability has always been the most important thing to me when choosing a driver,” said Woods. “I like the pear shape. It is appealing to my eye and it also has a slightly lower MOI (Moment of Inertia) that allows me to shape shots easier.”

 

The Vapor Speed TW driver combines Nike’s FlyBeam-reinforced Covert Cavity Back design and a new Compression Channel all packaged in a smaller head shape. The Covert Cavity Back design spreads weight towards the heel and toe to stabilize the head at impact maximizing forgiveness. The redistribution of mass creates more stability, better launch conditions and faster ball speeds.

 

Woods’s own insights led Nike’s design team to re-design the Compression Channel, which increases the spring-like effect off the mid-to-low portion of the face to increase overall distance.

 

In addition to a smaller head, the 10.5-degree lofted driver features the Diamana Blue Board 73 shaft with a bonded hosel

 

Woods put the driver in his bag for the first time at the Hero World Challenge in Dec. 2014.

 

The Vapor Speed TW driver will be available at nike.com June 1 and at select retailers June 15.

I stopped by 2nd swing today and they had a flex driver with the PX hand crafted shaft for $377. Boy this driver feels and sounds so good. I hit it a few times and adjusted after every 2-3 shots. I didn't have enough time to dial it in. I don't trust there simulators or what ever they have, some kind of Ping fitting system. I was all over the board with spin, launch, and shape!

It's the exact combo I am hitting now. It's unbelievably good in results and sound/feel! I hit the longest drive I've hit in the last 10 years this past Sunday with it. The shaft kicks at impact but still extremely stable. I only missed 4 fairways in 36 holes and 3 of the four no more than 2-3 club lengths from the fairway. I wasn't aware of the shaft color scheme until it arrived... it also matches with the black and volt theme extremely well.

I couldn't bring myself to playing a 6 hour weekend round of golf but I was able to give the flex 3 hyb a full workout on the range.

I dumped my vr pro hyb for the TEE XCG5 a year and a half ago and have had some really outstanding shots w it. From the tee the xcg5 has been mostly great but like all hybrids I have owned, the snap hook will ruin my round pretty quick.

Quick summary on the flex is it sounds and feels amazing. After hitting them back to back for about 40 minutes,I prefer the muted sound of flex over the metal sound of the Xcg5

The flex at 18* on open setting is phenomenal and fills a void that the xcg5 wasnt covering . Love the flight and the compact head! I'm getting a higher more penetrating flight and further carry. Im at 18* vs 19* but its still higher. Best of all, after 30+ balls, not one snap hook!! I hope this carries to the course, i think it could get some really good action.

Anyone know, does nike allow you to order their upgrade shafts with adapter installed without buying the club? Want to get a black tie for my ct2.0 tour hybrid. As you guys know, their adjustable hybrids come with a tip sz equal to fwys. So you can't just buy any shaft and throw the adapter in, unfortunately.
