Scorecard vs app

I used Hole 19 on the - shot by shot - mode. I tracked multiple driver shots & there's no page that shows your club averages for tracked shots.

So - if I track 2 drivers shots - 300 & 280. The app doesn't say - Your tracked driver shots averages 290. It makes tracking the shot a little useless.

Unless, I just can't find that feature in the app..

It's cold here in the NE so I haven't tried Fungolf yet. Did you try it and how did you make out with it?

I keep a scorecard from all of my rounds in a shoebox in my basement. When I get home I put the scores into oobgolf, and I also have the app on my phone. I guess I could put the scores directly into oob while playing, but I like to not be messing with my phone when I'm on the course - golf is a way to get away from everything.

I normally keep my phone in the cart and will use SkyDroid (although I have some other apps listed in the other thread to test out like Swing by Swing, GolfLogix, and one more) to keep track of score and stats there. However, what I bolded above is one of the reasons I don't really like doing that. I get a ton of messages and stuff on my phone throughout the day and would also consider myself a 'power user' of a smartphone. It's tough to keep focused on the game when you're responding to an email/text message, happen to see a notification of a score of a game, whatever.

It's really easy for me to keep track of all stats I want in one row on a card if I'm keeping score for more than one person. Shading different corners for greens/fairways, putts, penalties, up/down, etc. Just gotta have a sharp pencil!

I used to have a Galaxy S3 with an extended battery, so that was never an issue. I now have a Nexus 5, so extended battery isn't really an option and depending on where you are, running a GPS app for four hours can MURDER battery life, but it's a heck of a lot better than it used to be, that's for sure. Sometimes courses are kind of in the middle of nowhere, so service is spotty making any functions but scoring on the app almost useless.

The biggest thing I'm looking forward to is when someone can figure out how to utilize the saved offline Google maps (a ton of these apps use Google Maps for their mapping) function and allow that to be used during the round. I think GPS requires a data connection though, so it might not even technically be possible. It would be a huge help when service is limited where you're playing, and would cut the battery consumption at least in half.

Hey, yup that's true. I've also asked them about this feature and they told me they were working on it for the future. Let's hope it comes soon. What is cool however is that you can see all your rounds individually in their online clubhouse and review how you played. While averages are definitely a must, I wouldn't say tracking your shots is useless.. Check out my round from last week for example: www.h19.co/-u_16w

I don't use either, I have the skycaddie SGXW and you can keep track of any stat you want. I like it because it can clip on your bag so you don't have to put anything in your pockets everything can go in your bag, plus it does lock like a phone all you have to do is push any button and it comes back on. Another plus is that you aren't killing your phone battery. It's simple to download to your computer when you get home and you can compare all your stats for the year. You can actually compare stats for specific courses and holes if you want. The only downfall is the fee I paid $149 for 3 years for any course in world. I can play 2 rounds in one day without recharging, and can drag the cursor to see any distance on any part of the hole not just front, back and center of the green.

I use Golf Pad GPS for android. Bought the premium version and use it with my Pebble smart watch as a GPS watch. I fill in the scores/stats while waiting on the tees. We keep a paper card too though, to track who is winning the round.

I'm an engineer so I nerd out with the stats after a round and use that to help plan my future practice sessions.
