Most spectacular golf course I've been on in my life. Also a pretty darn good course. Wettest I've ever been as well. Constant sideways rain for entire 18, didn't mind a bit, it was that good! Managed an 89, and darn happy with it! Dooks, Ballybunion Old, Doonbeg, Portmarnock Links, and Royal County Down to go. :) :)

Oh yeah, this is Old Head.

Not WRX's per se but i'll be pulling for local guys Joe Hooks and Francesco Ruffino. Francesco shot a 63 at Wednesday's pre-qualifier tying the course record at TPC. The odds of them making it are pretty long - only the top 4 from the Orchards make it to the big show!

On a related note who's going/working and what days? I'm thinking of going Saturday (smaller crowds?) and watching it on TV Sunday.

It was a total s*** show out there -- tee times running a half hour behind with absolutely no weather issues that day. Waiting on every shot, despite the fact that we were playing in a sixsome (I think it seriously took us 5:30 to finish, and that was with me sprinting off the 18th green before the rest of the group was finished, so I could just barely make it to the thing I had to go to afterward). It's just ridiculous that any course lets things get backed up that badly and doesn't police pace of play at all. I can understand the wet conditions, given all the rain we've had this year, and they do keep the greens in decent condition, but they really need to cart some sand in to fix the bunkers. I play out there around once a week in the mornings during the week, because it's convenient to my house and office, and I usually play 18 holes in under 2 hours, but I will never play it on the weekend again.

Anyone heard anything about the Tribute at the Otsego Club in Gaylord???? I know they shut course down last year and was wondering if anyone has played it this year or heard anything about it? Always loved that track

Interested as well. Coming from Az in August and it’s in the mist of courses we’re playing. Ostego Tribute, Forrest Dunes and The Loop, Treetops Premier.

Unfortunately, no Michigan players made the cut.

Played LTB for the first time earlier this year and really liked it too. The elevation changes on every single hole get a bit tiring but you still can't beat the views or the price, plus the course was in great shape for as early in the season as we played it.

Finally making it up and playing Forest Dunes and the Loop over the 4th. Really looking forward to it. Any tips I should know for either?

I heard a rumor that the course had a signed contract of sale and this is the last season

I hope that’s wrong, because I’ll basically never get to play golf other than on weekends if it’s true.

Anyone know what happened at Dunham Hills? Played today and seven of the greens on the back nine are dead. They seem to just be dirt that's been rolled and spray painted.

It's too bad because other wise the course is in great shape. I played it in early May and this wasn't an issue. And it had held up well to that point compared to the other courses I was playing that were puddles.

So finally played Forest Dunes...what a gem. Absolutely gorgeous golf course. The gnats were terrible on some holes/greens, but other than that it was an incredible experience. The stamped concrete is a gorgeous touch all the way around the course.

Played the Loop as well and enjoyed the course but dont feel the value is there for the $130 (replay) to play it.

Also saw this guy on the Loop:

Interested in what are you looking for in a golf course if you think The Loop isn't worth the cost? Architecturally The Loop is head and shoulders above Forest Dunes! If I had 10 rounds to play at Forest Dunes I'm playing The Loop 9/10 and Forest Dunes 1/10!

Couldn't agree more! I was fortunate enough to make the trip over from Milwaukee last fall and only got to play Forest Dunes and one of the two Loop directions due to time...the Loop is the reason that I'm dying to come back and play again, and I may exclusively play the Loop when I do go. Not only is the course design fantastic, but the firm playing conditions are something that are nearly impossible to find in the Midwest (or most of the US for that matter) and its a wonderful walk (the riding only nature of the original FD course is a big negative in my book). Hoping to perhaps make another quick weekend trip this fall.

I agree with the premise of it being unique, etc. I want to emphasize that I actually really do like the course, I just feel like the minimalistic approach to the course features/setup doesn't warrant that price. Just my .02. To each their own.

That’s gonna be a no from me, dawg. Reverse that, I’d play FD 9 times out of 10. The Loop is a bit too gimickey for me.
