Rained out at Sage Run. Greywalls a bit of a disappointment this year, conditioning has slipped more than a little.

I switched to the TS4 after a driver fitting, then I tried the TS2 fairway wood. The fairway wood didn’t work out so it’s for sale. Got fitted for the 410 sft 16 deg so that’s on the way. New Miura putter, can’t have too many putters.

In the neighborhood of Arcadia Bluffs, has anyone here played Bear Lake Highlands, the Heathlands in Onekama, or Manistee National?

I have played Manistee National. There are two courses there - they are decent.

I just bought an Odyssey Toulon design - the Azela head which reminds me of Scotty Cameron Laguna. It is hard to find a blade with enough toe hang. We will see how that goes. The GOLO3 hasn't left the bag in 3 years, but I wanted to give something else a chance. I got a good enough deal on CPO that it was worth it.

Manistee National courses are good and the most resort-like of the ones you have listed. I have played the Canthooke Valley course there and it was fun and scenic. The other course, Cutters Ridge, I haven't played, but it seems nice as well and has more marsh/water in play I believe.

Heathlands is a good and fun northern Michigan course. You wouldn't drive to Onekama for the specific purpose of playing Heathlands, but it's very convenient to Arcadia Bluffs and a good compliment to Arcadia if you're looking for something less epic in scope and less expensive. It has more of an "out of the way, Up North feel" to me than Manistee National. There has been talk about it closing and converting to a solar farm or something like that. You should check on it being open and the conditions still being good.

Bear Lake Highlands is a good "local" course and fits the bill for a fun round to fill out a trip. I play it when in the area and time is an issue or my guests just want to play some golf and have some beverages. I enjoy the course. It is the closest in vicinity to Arcadia Bluffs.

KB, I recently found a brand new Odyssey White Hot #3. Plenty of toe hang and I like the simple black head with white alignment line on top. This original insert blows away the newer ones IMO. I did see a sweet rose colored Toulon on eBay last night. Just saying ....

Thanks! I might try to make a small trip north this fall still...I've got a free campsite within about a 25 minute drive of all the aforementioned courses, and a wife who LOVES St. Ambrose mead and Stormcloud Brewing. I may have played 9 at Bear Lake when I was just a little duffer, playing with my dad's cut-down clubs, but it's been so long that I don't remember specifically anymore. I can say for 100% certain that I have not played Manistee, Arcadia, or Heathlands.

Quick question for the Arcadia vets. My buddies and I are playing Arcadia on Sunday. Had to go twilight to keep costs down and we have a 4pm tee time. Assuming the weather is good are we getting all 18 in?> @"Jose c." said:

Yes we did! Lucked out and had a single in front of us that helped create some room. We played in 4 hours and 20 minutes, probably would have gotten done in 4 if we didn't finally catch up to the single and the foursome in front of him near the end. Otherwise we didn't wait once and went at our own pace which was a little slower since we were taking pics and stuff. We were probably the 2nd to last groups on the course though that would get their round in, 10 minutes later and we would have been SOL.

I finally decided to go all out and have Byron Morgan make me a custom putter. Just put the deposit down yesterday. I've been rolling a pipe neck B-17 all year, and it's been great, but the guy I bought it from apparently was having some financial issues that caused him to need to see it in the first place, and he was hoping to buy it back. I like the one I have a lot, but there's a few things I would change about it, so I saw this as my chance to really get what I want. I don't expect to have it for at least a couple of months, but I'm really excited to have gotten the process started.

Reading OW’s post about Sweetgrass makes me want to head back to the UP for golf. Took a family vacation there last year with no Golf but I agree about Sweetgrass as it was in pristine condition when I played it. Loved that place plus we were buying red bulls and vodkas for $3.50 at casino.

Loved Greywalls as well. I’ll never forget the faces of my buddies with the long drive from the clubhouse. That place is sweet and is so unique. I really want to hear about Sage Run. Seems to be a crazy tough course.

Timber stone was fun as well but a bit of a let down. Need to head back up that way

Well, gents, I'm off to my yearly round of golf tomorrow. The church scramble is a no-go for some mysterious reason, so I've organized a family outing...myself, my dad, my uncle, and my cousin (and his 7 year old). The youngster apparently loves watching golf trick shot videos on Youtube, and he's got his dad's athletic prowess, so he's chomping at the bit to get out with the grown ups.

I'll be the guy dressed like this:

MSU lost that game all unto themselves. I can't speak to how the whole game was called by refs ... but MSU Gave up a 4th and 13 to a QB scramble, untouched, on ASU's final drive, and had too many eager participants on the field for the FG they actually made at the end of the game. Fix either of those blunders and the ASU player falling over the line of scrimmage on final missed FG is meaningless.

The 4th down defense was terrible. Not spiking it before the FG was terrible. 12 guys running out there isn’t so bad with how quick it happened, we lost 3 more O Linemen during the game so I’m sure guys were being put on and off kicking units that usually aren’t on them. But yea, MSU sucks.

So that is what a coach says to keep players focused on a game. But the fact of the matter is, regardless of whether this or that should have happened, the game was at that point and the guys whose job is to get it right got it wrong, badly. Not only did they miss the personal foul there, I believe they also missed a pretty egregious hands to the face on ASU on the FG attempt that would have offset the too many men.

Just because a team doe execute the way they want(there are a bunch of other guys on scholarship trying to stop them after all), doesn't make it ok for refs to not do their job.

lol oh stop it they had a gift PI call to even get in that position, the offensive execution was horrible again and the coaching may have been worse.

Some great golf on a work trip the past couple of days. Yesterday I played Arcadia South which is probably the best $100 round I have experienced anywhere.

Today I played Crystal Downs and all I can say is Wow! Had a great experience walking as a single with a caddie. Easily one of my top three courses.

You guys are lucky to have such great golf in MI. Too bad the season isn’t longer!

Hey curious, how'd you get on for $100? I thought twilight was $140?

Not sure if it was twilight pricing or a change in season. I teed off at 3:36 which I thought was before the twilight time of 4:00.

Well, officiating may be the least of Dantonio's worries.

      3. What is your current putter?
      4. Have you ever used a L.A.B. Golf putter?
      5. Why do you want to review the MEAZZ.1 putter?
      6. Do you agree to participate in an ongoing testing thread, posting reviews and photos?

That's it! @labgolf and GolfWRX will choose the testers in about 2 weeks! This testing event is for good-standing members in the USA only!
