All Things Michigan Golf....the Mulligan (MOD EDIT: NO POLITICS, NO COVID-19, NO ECONOMICS)

This entire thing is completely antithetical to the American way of life, but that's getting dangerously close to political talk, which is verboten here.

How will the golf courses maintain the landscape and greens while this SH/SS order is in place?

Louisiana courses are mostly open, not allowing touching the flag. Carts too just one person per cart. I come up here and nothing is allowed! A little crazy.

I hear what you are saying and agree, but I think there is a misunderstanding in our society that this will go away if we quarantine like we are presently. It may subside somewhat, and also in the spring and summer months, to a certain degree, but it will be back this fall again. Not until an effective vaccine is available will we take some control over this virus, either that or everybody becomes immune by getting the virus itself and working through it, which would not be a good thing. I personally don't think this will be something that will be beaten in the near future, a process has to be worked through which includes a vaccine for us to get on top of this virus. I think we'll be in this mode for another year or two. Many people are trying to be optimistic by saying that in a month or so we'll be through this and everything will get back to normal, which I don't think is possible. I hope I am wrong but I just don't see it.

I agree that this wont be beat without vaccine, but to say we will be like this for another year or 2 seems reckless. With speed tests, antibody tests and proven treatments we will get this country up and running incrementally.

I sure hope you are right. Although I thought they said it takes about 18 months for a vaccination to become ready. Maybe they can get it done faster. I think we will be struggling until the vaccine comes out whenever that is.

125,433 total cases

332,000,000 population

Only (approx) .038% have gotten the covid yet which is a very very small percentage of the population, but yet a large enough number to keep the fire burning. Only one in 2646 people have had it yet. That's a lot of hosts that will keep this thing alive until the vaccine comes out. Sorry, I don't mean to be negative, I tried to think rationally and honestly, maybe I have miscalculated?

I'm not talking vaccine. I'm talking just treatments. Able to to treat and mitigate symptoms. There is a lot happening with these potential treatments as we speak. These will be key to get us going while we continue to develop a vaccine, which I agree, will be in at least 12 months minimum.

My job requires a ton of travel, and not like conferences, trade shows and sales, but test site specific things like hot and altitude trips. Things you simply can't do remotely, or here in Michigan. I'm not sure how this is going to play out if we don't get back to some level of safety and normalcy in the next 4-6 weeks.

I hope they can figure out some kind of antiviral treatment to help people who catch it, but I wouldn't put a lot of faith in the claims that are being made about hydroxychloroquine and things like that. The doctor who started pushing that has a history of shoddy research and dubious claims, and a lot of the people pushing that narrative are basically grifters. Maybe there's something to it, but considering who is pushing it, I'm not getting my hopes up.

Unfortunately the plaquenil and antiviral properties of a z pak are the best we current have. There are many vaccines on the horizon but the longer we stay healthy the more research and knowledge we gain and the better we all have of surviving. This holds true especially for those higher at risk.

I just ordered a net and a mat to use in the back yard, in case we're looking an an extended time when we won't be able to play. It's something I could conceivably use in the garage during the winter, too, I guess.

Does anybody take zinc lozenges or tablets when they suspect they are coming down with a cold or flu? I take them every time I suspect I might be contracting something and they 'seem' to work for me. I know a few others that swear by them as well. It may seem like the proverbial old wives tale but I feel like there's something to it.

zinc lozenges and echinacea are great to take if you're feeling sick. vitamin c ( oranges and lemons ) along with hot tea with lemon, ginger and honey are excellent for feeling better. most importantly, you basically want to drink fluids constantly to flush it out of your system. amazed at how many people don't practice that, can't tell you how many times ive felt a cold coming on, drank water pretty much constantly for a day and its gone. just offering some advice that has worked for me that my dad taught me!

I've done some reading on the topic. I'm not a medical expert, just some jerk on the internet, but it seems like there's some clinical evidence that zinc helps fight certain types of cold/flu bugs. Vitamin C doesn't actually do much but help your body work more efficiently, whereas zinc actually helps your body reject the specific types of viruses that cause infection. As it pertains to the current health situation, you've gotta have zinc in your cells to prevent implantation/infection, which basically means you have to give yourself acute zinc toxicity, which is also no bueno.

    • APPLY NOW: L.A.B. Golf MEZZ.1 Putter (Early Access) Member Testing! 10 Testers Needed!
L.A.B. Golf is choosing ten GolfWRX members to receive their MEZZ.1 putter early and put their brand new product to the test before reporting back to the community about what they see. The selected testers will be one of the first to experience the MEZZ.1 from L.A.B. GOLF, their newest Lie Angle Balanced design, ahead of it's January 2022 launch!

About The L.A.B. Golf Mezz.1 Putter
MEZZ.1 is our new mid-mallet putter that’s fully CNC machined from a billet of 6061 aircraft aluminum (body) and 303 stainless steel (midsection) to create our best-feeling — and we think best looking — putter to date. It includes 10 weights (eight on the bottom, two on the sides) that allow us to individually build each putter to a golfer’s exact specifications.

      How To Apply
In a post below, answer the following questions.

      1. City, State?
      2. Handicap?
      3. What is your current putter?
      4. Have you ever used a L.A.B. Golf putter?
      5. Why do you want to review the MEAZZ.1 putter?
      6. Do you agree to participate in an ongoing testing thread, posting reviews and photos?

That's it! @labgolf and GolfWRX will choose the testers in about 2 weeks! This testing event is for good-standing members in the USA only!
