Do you still have the ping tour shaft? I hit every fairway the other day with it and fired 78 at medalist from back tees with it. Give it a try.

Or get the same shaft you hit so well in the Mini for the driver.

The winner is TM R15 430 12 (dialed down to 10.5) with Fuji Speeder 67 Evolution Stiff shaft. This felt great and was easier to hit and turn over with the smaller head.

You're struggling with keeping the driver in play, so you go to a smaller, less forgiving head? Best of luck, and I hope it works for you, but that seems a little backward.

The smaller heads just allows me to turn it over easier. I think a lot of the issue was the shaft. Just didn't work for my swing. I don't think the new 430 is nearly as tough to hit as last years Sldr 430

The R15 is night and day difference from the SLDR. It is much more forgiving, but not as long.

I did take a page from OW's book. I traded in a striker grind 10 bounce in 56 to 14 degrees of bounce with full sole. It doesn't stick in the turf on full swings.

For those that are playing in the mid-am, who is planning on playing practice round(s) on Wednesday? I have not made up my mind on schedule, but if we had a group playing Wednesday, I would probably join. I have not played the Moor in about 15 years so it is a new course to me.

I actually found the 430 R15 to not be any shorter than the SLDR. I will agree it may not be the "longest" but slightly shorter and more control is what I need.

Anybody getting tired of their 'over-sized' putter grip? I just removed a Winn Jumbo grip off of my favortie blade putter and put a standard sized grip on it.
[/quote]

Last year I switched to a counterbalanced GoLo with a Super Stroke belly putter grip and I don't see myself changing any time soon. My putting this summer has been pretty solid.

Thanks again Sweet!

Does anyone happen to have a Nippon super peening blue x flex 7 iron shaft laying around? I hit a shot from a tree root in the GAM Championship and it really did a number on my 7 iron. It was a par 5... I made birdie so it was worth it

Has anyone played Grandview GC up near Kalkaska? Looking for a place to play the day after labor day with my wife, who doesn't play much or hit the ball very far. Looking for a course that isn't too busy, and without a lot of forced carries, but will also be a little interesting for me.

Hey guys,

Heading up to play Arcadia in 2 weeks, first time ever up there.

Was wondering if anyone had any tips for playing the course, or any good local food/beer selections within the area of there and Traverse City?

Also, anyone have any suggestions for the other 18 we're going to try to play?

Thanks guys!

A group of us (3 couples plus young kids)are renting a beach house on the bay about 30 min north of TC. The guys should be able to sneak away for one round. Any suggestions for golf on the peninsula? Manitou passage looked nice, but it might be too pricey for these guys taste.

I agree with this...Manitou is over rated...you could also go over to GTR or Lochenheath (not to far of a drive)
My wife played Northport Creek a couple of weeks ago and said it was a nice 9 holer...cool thing was you could play 3 6 9 12 18 holes...whatever you wanted

In Frankfort, Storm Cloud Brewing has decent reviews. In TC, you have a ton of options for food/beer/wine/etc. My current favorite places in TC:
7 Monks (always and forever) & the Low Bar (next door in the basement -- cool cocktail bar)
Trattoria Stella
Georgina's
Harvest
Little Fleet (food trucks and a bar)
Brewery Terra Firma
Filling Station (brewery and pizza)
Right Brain Brewery
I've also heard good things about Rare Bird Brewery, but haven't been there yet. I'll be checking in it out Labor Day weekend, hopefully.

As for golf, I think the best immediately near TC is Lochenheath. A-Ga-Ming is about 20 minutes past there, and by going there, you put yourself in the general vicinity of Short's, in which case, you owe it to yourself to go there.

Enjoy the views, and expect the round to take awhile (unless you go out early). As for the golf, pin positioning is everything. I find that the course itself isn't all that demanding until you get around the greens. You need to get your ball on the right tier to have chances to score, and even then it's tough.

Wow that is awesome. Love that place. As hard as #9 is, it's a wonder there aren't more holes in one there. If that pin is in that lower bowl at least.
