Prices for a round of golf in your area.

Recommended Posts

Wanted to get an idea of prices people are paying for 18 holes in their area. I was reading a topic on distance travelled for golf and some mentioned they drive further away for cheaper golf but where I live it's about $70 per round for a decent/good course and over $100 for really nice course no matter how far I travel.

Also planning a golf trip in the near future, this post might help me make my decision on where to go.

Good point. If I find some tee times on golfnow or underpar it'll be around $55 tax in.

I'm in more central PA (shamokin to be exact), and around here I'd say average is like $25-30 with higher end ones around $40 on the weekends. And those are with a cart as well. I'd hate to pay what I see some of you do! Heck sometimes I think $40 is a little steep haha.

And that average is from courses within about 45 minutes from me (about 10 different courses).

Out here in AZ wit year round golf, we have a weird rate structure that fluctuates based on time of year. Peak season you ca play the muni tracks with the city card for under $40 walking while most places are charging $75 and up(I mean waaaay up).

Those same places that are pushing close to $200 in the winter can be found from between $15-50 in the summer months.

The munis are a good value IMO while there are TONS of courses that sucker in snowbirds and have no business charging north of $50, but they pay so what can you do.

Peak season is when I typically rotate between 4 different courses, while in the summer I venture out a bit more or play my favorite muni for $14 to walk or another one that usually pops up for around $10 with cart on teeoff

I'm in L.A. so a muni - I won't pay over $60, usually $35-$55. Nicer public course, $50-$70 plus the $30 in gas round trip to get there. I have a residence card for San Diego, I get on Torrey for $72 on Fri-Sun. It's about $45 in gas, but hey, it's Torrey.

Here in Vegas, residents get big discounts on most of the courses.... the lower-end ones you can play for about $35, depending on the time of day - but anything decent, and anything early, generally a $65-$90 round at a regular rate.

That said, if you can stand the heat, places like Bears Best offer up $60 rounds in the middle of the summer, just to get people out there. That's a steep discount for a great course. Coyote Springs is the same way, $60/$159.

And of course, there's the $250-$400 places like Cascata, Bears Best (regular rates), TPC Summerlin, etc...

Down here in Orlando, its all about the time of year. We just finished the cheap season (June-September) most good courses on golf now you can play for $20-40 with cart and sometimes lunch. But in the spring, the crappy courses are $50+ with nice courses at $100+ for weekend mid morning. Just try to find deals online and if you're looking at a trip try to go just after peak season you should have some good savings.

Here in the DFW area I would say if you plan on golfing you should expect to pay minimum of $35-$50. That is assuming a lot things though. There is a lot options around here for golf and I have found that the prices on courses can vary a lot. For instance are you willing to be out in 100 degree heat in the summer? If you are you can save a ton of money here. The price you pay is basicaly what are you willing to deal with. The less issues expect to pay more.

I have seen places that charge $129 a round during Satuday morning which to me seems way overpriced. How ever the same place you can golf on a Friday after 3pm for $15. The biggest problems i have found around here is the course get packed when the deals are good and the weather is nice. It gets so bad and crowded I just simple decided that I need to not go during cheaper times. People don't believe me but when I tell them golf is more fun on a empty course at 100 degree course then 70 degrees and crowded with part time golfers in the fall. I rather just pay the extra money and golf in peace. I think the solution here is join a private club for less then $500 a month

In northern Utah, Golfnow deals for 18 holes are common in the $10 to $17 range with cart. I don't know how that's even possible, but I see them every week, including right now.

Without a deal, expect to pay in the $20's walking and in the $30's with a cart almost anywhere you go. The courses all seem to cost about the same since the surplus of competition keeps anyone from raising his rates too much. I have punch passes at three different courses that break down to about $9 per nine.

I must also confess that I have played FREE 3 times this year on 3 different courses when I showed up to play and the Pro simply went home or took a long lunch. Things are so slow some days that they just figure "Why bother" and lock the shop.

It's hard to find an area with better year round rates. Summers are mild, as are the winters. It's still mid 70's right now. In mild winters, some courses stay open all year. Others have to close in mid December to February, but they'll open again if we hit a hot streak.

So lucky to live in a part of the world where you can golf all year round... I grew up in Alberta, Canada so we had to pack as many rounds of golf in between May and the end of September while the snow was gone. I think I've seen snow in every month of the year too. Because of that, a round can easily run you $80-100, even for a course that won't crack your top 20 list..

Pretty much the same in the Coachella Valley. I play some great tracks May-September and never pay more than $30, and my buddy and I can finish in 3 hours. In the winter time, I gravitate towards the lower end tracks or drive out to the Inland Empire to avoid the $100+ rounds.

I do whatever I can to be under $30 here in SoCal, and that means escaping Orange County and playing in the Inland Valley... or Shorecliffs in San Clemente. When I am working and on the road I look to get a chance at courses I am interested in, but draw the line at anything nearing $100. There are exceptions (i.e. Pinehurst, TPC courses, anything on the Top 100 list ... maybe) to this rule, but I have found more "cheap" great courses hidden among the resorts out there that it's hard to pull the trigger on expensive golf.

I think out here in Western Nebraska, the 18 hole publics are all in the $25 range walking and add somewhere around $15 for a cart. Year long memberships at these places run about $500 for the year, with cart lease or private cart storage being about the same. No extra charges with the memberships, play as much as you want.

The neat thing is that most all of the little towns have their own unique little nine hole course. They are all a bit different, but all are of decent quality and while not terribly difficult, are a lot of fun to play. Typically they run specials all year long that work out to about $17-20 for 18 holes and a cart. And most times they won't be crowded at all. Memberships at most of these runs about $300 per year, with storage or lease being comparable.

Our private I believe runs about $65 with a cart and range balls.

It's a pretty good place to live for a golfer, in the 20 plus years I've been back here, there have only been two years where I haven't played every month.

Converted roughly $50 for somewhere good, much less as a guest of a member which most of my away rounds are. Those come to around $15-20.

Full adult memberships are around $950 for a decent 18 hole club.
