Pembroke Country Club?

Has anyone played here recently, or ever? Have a 36 hole competition there this weekend and want to get a download on the course beyond just what my golf logix & the pembroke app tell me. Competition is 27 holes from the blues and 9 holes from the whites. I'm about a 7 handicap who hits driver 260, 4 iron 200, 7 iron 160 and a PW 130, just for references.

 

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pembroke does have a couple of doglegs that need to be managed (5, 8, 13) - all can be drawn/shaped to significantly to shorten holes (#8 - there is a pond on the far side of the dogleg) #10 is narrow and long (good hole)- hopefully you have a GPS or Rangefinder to get distance to the corners. Otherwise it is pretty straightforward - I haven't played in a few years but generally in good condition, played there a lot as a kid - kind of favors a Draw - I imagine this time of year it should be pretty good...

What is the Tourney being played there?

have friends who have played there the past couple of weeks. They say the greens are in great shape. I played a couple of rounds there last year and thought the place was very playable. There is a par 3 on the front I believe it is the 7th hole uphill shot to a green that slopes away from front to rear pretty severe. Have been told it was built backwards by mistake.

They improved the 15th hole this year. A new right fairway bunker & sand bunker left front green, new sod in new rebuilt area. The hole plays 370ish The course has a few issues, a limited amount of ruff, but more hard pan when leaving the fairway/imbedded rocks-2,4,12,13,14,15,16,18, all right of fairway. The sandbunkers are a mix bag,hard sand to somewhat soft around the greens. The greens are hard, ball doesn't hold, they aerate once a year.(December) Despite that, the greens roll well! The 10th green was rebuilt a few years ago- different texture-putts -alittle quicker! The front 9 should play harder of the 2 nines. The 1st hole is good par 5- alittle elevated- green. The 3rd hole plays 220 plus from tips par 3 - 2 ter green, well bunkered,will play longer 1/2 club. Holes 4,5,8 are very good holes,5,8,& 9 you 'll encounter water on tee shots. 9th hole- new tee box back of 11th tee. The back 9, Holes 10, 12, par 4 maybe 17 par 3 are tough. 13 & 18 are par 5s,18 great hole, 11th hole good par 3 with water. The remaining par 4s are short holes! The course is well lined with trees. The previous owner never made any improvements- let the course go. At one time it was one the best on the southshore! Under new management- hockey player Jeremy Roenick owns the club. A good test of golf! There's a new slope 130 tips-127 whites. Good luck !!! If wet conditions- will play LONG!

I haven't played it in 20+ years but I remember laughing at one of the yardage markers on a sprinkler head on a long par-5 that simply read "NFW."
