"Official" Titleist 915 Thread

Got fitted for the driver and 3-wood a couple weeks ago. My driver swing speed is 102-108 usually. I ended up with a 915D2 10.5 in the B1 setting with a Rogue Black 70x shaft. The shaft surprised me because of my swing speed and the fact I have a lower ball flight. The 70x black shaft still gave me the launch I needed, but also helped with my dispersion as my miss is hard left (B1 setting helped with this as well).

For the 3-wood, I was fitted in the 915F 16.5 head set at B1 with a Rogue Black 80s shaft. Went stiff in this shaft for a little more launch and the heavier shaft still helped with my dispersion. 3-wood swing speed was around 98-99.

Loved the feel of both clubs. The fitting was done inside on Trackman since it is 30 degrees here, so I'm looking forward to getting them outside.

P.S.
The head definitely did not look 7* open...

Scrolled through this thread and am pretty confused about this 7* open thing.

I've played the 910D3 for 2 years and now the 913 D3 for 2 years and last week got a chance to hit my club pro's 915D3.

The 915 appeared VERY similar to my 913 at setup and the first and only drive I hit with it went right down the middle of the fairway (longer than my 913).

How could it be possible for any driver to be 7* open, or even close to that??

Was the pro comparing it to other drivers that tend to be closed? Was Dodo living up to his name when measuring the club?

Wow, this is strange stuff indeed.

Answer to your three questions.
1.It is not.
2.Who knows.
3.Yes.

I did not do it I just stood there and watch the Coolclub guy do it while he explained every step.
Maybe another person with a lie and loft angle machine can do the same.

I had the opportunity to hit the 915 D3 today at Golfsmith. I went in there to test a 913 D3 Demo they had in the used rack for $149. I tested both drivers, along with the SLDR (one of my current gamers along with the Jetspeed).

Clubs tested: 915 D3 with Diamana Whiteboard 70-S and 913 D3 with Diamana D+ 72-S. SLDR 9.5 with Stock Speeder in Stiff flex. All in neutral settings.

915 was longer than 913 for me by 6-10 yards on average. A few were 10+ yards longer. I was 290-300 on average with the 915 and 285-295 with the 913. I had a few over 300 with the 915, the longest was 308.

915 looks and feels better than 913, IMO. My dispersion was best with the 915.

915 is louder than 913, but its not obscenely loud or offensive. I actually liked the sound.

SLDR was the longest of the 3 by 5-10 yards on average. I was 295-305 with a few over 310. 318 was the longest (I think this was actually my best swing of the day).

I would like to hit the 915 D3 with a Blueboard 63-X or Kai'li 60-X (my usual gamers) for a better comparison to what I'm playing now. I'm not sure if its the simulator, but I hit quite a few hard hooks with all three drivers. I rarely hit hooks with my SLDR or Jetspeed. I can only attribute this to the weaker shafts.

Needless to say, I didn't buy the 913 D3. I really wanted to, but I think I'll wait and see if I can get my hands on a lightly used 915 D3 in the near future.

Edit: I also hit the G30, i25, and R15. The i15 was the closest of the three to the 915 in terms of feel and performance. G30 was big and loud and no longer than the 913. The R15 really felt good but didn't seem to go anywhere.

Little Late to the party here but i pulled the trigger on a 915D2 with a 110msi rouge silver and a 915f 15- rouge black that i was fit into a while black.. I have been playing a few rounds in the simulator ( STUPID SNOW) and while the D2 is such a great upgrade over the 910d2 i was playing... i must say the real winner here is the 915F ... i have always struggled with the 3wood but this thing flat out bombs!!! it is so stable and so forgiving!

very happy customer indeed

I've never hit a driver that sounds so different depending on the ball used. Rocks sound horribly loud and reach levels of ear piercing pain, but a ball with a softer cover and of more quality seems to be drastically more muted. I have not experienced that type of variation with any other driver. Another guy in my club had the same opinion.

Are you golfers finding the same?

Yeah, on the course vs a muni range with rocks is night and day.

It was like the driver was designed to hit ProV1s, haha.

I’m with you though. Quite interesting how different the sound is going from ball to ball. I was at the golf dome over the weekend and actually felt bad for the guy next to me.

While acoustics in the dome are certainly different than the course, to me, it was the dome balls that were causing the much louder sound. On the course, the 915 is louder than the 913, but really that not much different sound-wise than most other drivers. Hitting the dome balls, it was quite noticeable. You can easily point out the guy hitting the 915 from across the dome.

Well, I got my new Rombax 7W06 x installed into an extra tip and have been waiting for decent enough weather to try it out in my D2 against my Rogue Silver 70 110 MSI. I really can't wait to have a little mini shootout with these two shafts in my D2 head.

Just picked up a mint 915D2 10.5 with 60g S+ off BST for a great deal. Man I am jonsing to go hit it. Damn these PA winters. I am actually going to put a 70g S+ in it soon, as I have always preferred heavier driver shafts.

Don't post BST prices, it hurts people who may be trying to get some of their money back.

I've been told it's poor form on here, especially with new releases.

I feel as though it is....plus I watch the BST and I haven't seen any of that model that low...probably an exaggeration....

Not t an exaggeration at all. I have seen plenty of people on here post the price they bought things off BST. But if it is going to get your panties in a bind I will take it down. I don't want this thread to turn into a stupid argument.

Why do you feel it's "poor form" to post what you paid for a used club (or anything else for that matter) on WRX BST? And who told you it was? I'd love to hear this. I've been active on this site for a long time and I've never heard that...

I've been a Titleist Driver guy for the past two models. 910, 913, and now the 915. When I got fitted, I brought all my own shaft combos with me. I compared each one of my shafts in the 913 head and the 915 head. The truth, for me, I don't need to buy a new driver except that I want a new toy. The 915 gave me slightly less spin and a few yards more carry and ball speed. Not enough to warrant a purchase but I did anyway because I'm lucky and I could.

These are the shaft combos I tried out:
Diamana D60 (stock) - I ordered it tipped 1/2 inch when I bought the club
Diamana D+ 62 (tipped 1/2 inch)
Fujikura Rombax Type-X 75S
Fujikura Fuel Tour Spec 60S

  • 3 weeks later...

I just picked up a 915 FS 15* with a Diamana D+ 80 stiff shaft. Off the mat it was really solid and pretty easy to hit in the air. Feel and response was what I come to expect from a Titleist wood. I'm not sure I will attempt a driver change since my 905T is still performing very well. I may reshaft the 905T but the 400cc head is staying in my bag. Now I will probably go with a 3 iron hybrid but am leaning towards another brand since the 2 iron hybrid is performing incredibly.

I just experienced the 915H for the first time last night with a Diamana D+ 90 and I am now seriously considering swapping my trusty old Adams Pro A12 to one of these and it also has me seriously considering a 915 FD 13.5* 3 wood based on how hot the hybrid seemed. Granted, this was indoors with Flightscope, but wow!

Well, just got back from a range trip. While there I hit my D2 with the Rogue Silver 70X and the new Rombax 7W06x and can say that it looks like the Rombax beatout the Rogue. Now, I'll have a couple more weeks to wait to see whether the final nod will go to the Rombax or the Kai'li 70X I just ordered a week and a half ago as the gamer.

I was able to hit my 915H in Florida last week. Wow! This thing is a rocket launcher. I was a little worried when I got it (for my birthday - thank you wife!) as I ordered the Rogue stiff, thinking it would be typical Aldila and play weaker. It is really firm. But it plays beautifully. Easily 10 yards longer than my 910H, and more importantly it sets up square at address, unlike the 910, which had a draw bias. I could shape the 915 right or left, high or low, and was able to hit it off of virtually any lie. Great feel and sound. It's a keeper.

I'm always surprised how judge mental some people are on WRX.
I checked the face myself at the location.

I picked a D3 8.5* off the rack at a local store the other day and it sat insanely open. So this one might not be the only 7* open D3 out there. I was shocked, glad I wasn't the only one.
