"Official" Titleist 915 Thread

Since our courses closed here in the beginning of November, and the 913 did not do it for me, I have not spent a single thought on the new 915 drivers. Been warmer now a couple of weeks with some driving ranges and courses opening. Last Sunday I was at a local golf course to hit some balls on the driving range and saw that they had the fitting studio open. I popped in and asked if I could try the new 915 D2, and they said yes. Went back to my spot on the driving range and started hitting it. WOW, the 915 D2 with Diamana D+ 70 Stiff flex shaft works awesome for me. Me being a lefty player they did not have any lefty 915's for sale, if you want it in lefty they order it in for you. But I thought I would try and see if I could buy the demo from them, nobody had hit either the head or shaft before me, and after some back and forth I got to buy it.

I have played 2 rounds with it now and it still might just be the honeymoon, but it works so good for me. I have had both the 910 D2 and 913 D2, the 910 was good while the 913 did not work for me at all. So I have played the Cleveland 588 custom since I sold my 913, but now I think the big dog in the bag for the coming years will be the 915... I am so excited for the 2015 season, and the 915 D2 has given me the confidence I need from the tee.

Just got a round with the new 915 Fd under my belt, and WOW! The 915D's performance is the typical solid Titleist driver offering, but the 915Fd is really something special. I gotta say too, the Diamana S+ 80 is a phenomenal fairway wood shaft. Really has me looking forward to my Kai'li 70 getting here for me to possibly knock the Rombax 7Wo6 out of the bag. The Fd also has me really looking forward to my 915H getting here

The S+ 80 is a great fairway shaft. Loving it in my 915F 16.5 deg. Just a great golf club. I also have Kai'li 60 I used to use in a driver. It's good feel and launch but just a tad spinny. Never hit the Kai'Li 70 but I am thinking it should be perfect for a driver. I am going to try and get an S+ 70 and give that a go some time vs my Rogue Black. With a bit of tipping it may work.

Actually need to change that in my signature. Ended up going with a 21 Deg 915H with D+ 90. I think the S+ 90 will launch slightly higher than the D+ 90 but both are solid great shafts. BTW the 915 hybrids are just as hot as the 915 fairways. Significant upgrade over 910h and 913h.

Managed to get a good few rounds in now with my D2.

I must admit I was reluctant to move away from my 913D3 but I'm certainly noticing a positive difference with my drives. Even at this stage of the year with fairly heavy fairways and with not a lot of run I've been hitting second shots from places I'm not used to seeing. The ball just seems to want to stay in the air an awful lot longer than the 913. I've even gotten used to the sound. I must admit it was a shock at first but it's now become normal. Looking forward to getting more golf in with it.

Very interested in the 915D2...hit it and preferred it over and 915 D3. 46 years old, handicap fluctuates between +1 and 2 - driver ss in the 100-102 but getting back in gym and should get that up a little. can anyone recommend shaft from stock offerings...interested in rogue 60 silver stiff or diamana+ 70?

Best advice anyone can give you is to try them all out. The stock shaft offerings for the 915 are phenomenal this time out. Personally I went with the Diamana S+ 80 in my Fd and the S+90 in my H. I'm still trying different shafts in my D2 because the Rogue Silver 70 just wasn't for me. Right now I'm playing an old Rombax 7W06, but I did just find an original White Board 73 and I have both a Diamana Kai'li 70 and S+ 70 TX on the way. It's been a few years since I used a Diamana and after swinging this year's Diamana + series, I remembered just how well they always worked for me, and frankly I couldn't tell you why I moved away from them aside from the typical WRX explanation of hoing just for the sake of hoing. I think I'm going to stick with the Diamanas from here in though. They really are that good.

Did you get a chance to hit the S+ 60/70 TX against the straight Stock X flex? Just wondered what the differences are. Presuming a slightly stiffer tip and less spin but retaining that smooth BlueBoard feel?

I've hit the D+ TX vs the X, differences for me were flight spin and dispersion. The TX still has the nice smooth feel, but brought spin and launch down significantly for me, and my dispersion is tight as ever with it. Not sure if it's the 915 head, the TX shaft, or a combo, but it's easily the straightest combo I've ever played. My natural ball flight has always been a draw, and I tend to fight over drawing and hooking the ball on my bad swings. I have 5 rounds in now with this combo, and have yet to hit even a slight draw on the course. It just wants to go straight. It's taking some getting used to but a good problem to have! I think the difference between the S+ TX and X would be similar just at a slightly higher launch and spin. I put a 80 S+ TX in my 915Fd and love it. Never compared it to the stock X though.

I had the older 80x d+ in the 913 fd and just went with the new s+ (blueboard) in 80x tipped 1.5" in a 915f. The s+ gives me the same, if not better, numbers than the d+. After swinging both, the d+ just feels like I have to really work to get good numbers, S+ is effortless.

Finally got great weather here in ny and hit outside with the new stick. Feels awesome but course time will really tell. If your in between and like the feel of the s+ I would suggest tipping it 1 - 1.5 which (to me) brings it into d+ territory but keeps the blueboard feel.

Also, cold pinnacle range balls and the 915 driver do not mix well sound wise. But nonetheless it flat out performs and helps when you use a softer ball in warm weather.

I had the Diamana 62 S+ (stiff flex) that I tipped half inch - this shaft came originally in the Cally Optiforce 440 and I loved this shaft - sounds like this S+ offering in the 915 line is similar and solid. Can anyone compare the S+ to the Rogue Silver 60?
[/quote]

I can't compare the S+ 60 to the Rogue 60 Silver, but I can give a comparison of the S+ 70 to the Rogue Silver 70 which ought to be close enough. I originally had the Rogue Silver 70x after a fitting indoors on flight scope and while it's a good shaft, it's just not for me. Initially I though it was because of the counterbalancing of the shaft, but now having the S+ in my 915 3 wood and hybrid and after having hit the S+ in my driver as a VERY close contender as my gamer, I must admit that the counterbalancing may not be the culprit with my not liking the Rogue.

I found the Rogue Silver to be only slightly lower launching than the S+ 70 TX, but the spin on the S+ 70 TX was definitely lower than the Rogue based on the behavior of the ball, if I'm honest though, it's not an exact apples to apples comparison as the Rogue is the retail 110 MSI X where the S+ was the stronger TX flex. I imagine spin on the Rogue would have been similar to the S+ TX had I had the shaft tipped a half inch. After having hit both the S+ and D+ shafts in the 915, I can certainly say that the Diamana offerings have a more solid feel than the Rogue, still silky smooth, but just more solid than the Rogue. It's hard to explain. If I had been able to hit the Diamana shafts at my initial fitting, I probably would have opted for one of them instead from the outset and saved myself a good chunk of change by doing so. The unfortunate thing was they only had the Diamana S+60 D+ 70 and M+50 all in stiff in the cart when I was fit for the 915, but they had the Rogue 60 and 70 Silver in all flexes for the drivers when I was fit...it's almost like they were trying to push the Rogues on people to the exclusion of the Diamana Plus shafts. Don't get me wrong, the Rogue is a fine shaft and works fantastically well for many folks, I'm just not one of them.

I was fit for the fd with a rombax p95. Is the s+80 a decent enough substitute? Would save me $200.

My understanding is the Rombax P95 is a low/low shaft where the S+ is more of a mid/mid profile. For something low/low in the stock options, you may want to look at the D+ 80 or 90 (if you can get the 90 from Titleist).

Well now that I have several rounds under my belt with the Fd and the H, all I can say is WOW! The 915Fd is a good 15 to 20 yards longer than my former 910 and the feel and sound are fantastic from go unlike with the driver that took some tinkering with the SFT weight kit. The hybrid has also been blowing me away. Again a good 15 to 20 yards longer than my last hybrid (an Adams Pro A12), and the kicker is the 915H I'm bagging is an 18* head played at standard loft and 40.5" length...my old Adams Pro A12 was 16* and 41" and the 915 is still longer. Titleist is really on to something with the 915 series. After having played the 910, 913 and no 915, I can say that the 915 was the first REAL improvement. The 913 in my book was really just more of a face lift as opposed to a new product. The 915 is a game changer for Titleist woods.

I have a 915D2 with the 70 stiff diamana white I'll be selling. Like my D2 8.5 with the ADBB 7x too much to tamper with it. I was told the diamana was tipped 1".

Guess I should say the one I'll be selling is a 10.5.

Now that I've had my 915 D2 for a couple months, I'll give a review.
I went Edwin Watts not really looking for anything in March, but the old club ho came out in me. I got in the simulator, hit 15 balls with the 915, and fell in love. I had my 913 in the truck so the guy let me hit balls with it to compare. My spin, launch, and distance numbers were so much better with the 915 vs 913. So..instead of being patient, I went ahead and bought one. It came with one of the stock shafts (can't remember which one) but I changed it to a project x pvtour 52. Let's just say it's a bomber! On my 913 I had a d4 setting and could only move ball right to left. Now, with 915, I'm on the a1 setting and can step up to the shot confident on moving the ball either way on command. I've gone from an average drive of 280 to 290. Can't wait for my 915f to arrive this week and try it out!
It's also hard waiting for the 716 AP2s, but I gotta take a pill and weight or be on divorce court lol
Forgot to mention my 913 was 9.5 but my 915 is 10.5
