It just me or are a lot of pros switching to Nippon Iron Shafts?

I'm not a pro but I have switched to Nippon.

Last week while getting fitted, I absolutely fell in love with the X-105. The flex plays closer to a DG S100. The X105 was very smooth and at the same time, you can trust it if you really want to get into a swing.

After 7+ years playing with DG X100, the X105 had me kicking myself for not trying her sooner.

Similar for me with X105 although coming from DG SL X100 so not such a big jump.

I had been looking at new irons and going for something a little softer shaft wise - like XP105 or even XP95 but those shafts just ballooned and ultimately spun too much. Did not know a whole lot about the Nippons - I had heard about the 850/950 and the Modus 120/130 shafts but was not aware of a Modus 105 until I came across it in a Mizuno fitting cart. Well it gave me exactly what I wanted, light weight, mid ball flight, easy to load and less demanding than the X100. In the JPX900 Tour and Forged it's a match made in heaven! Demoed it over multiple days and weeks on course and love it.

Thanks for the 105 video. I have not hit any of the other Modus shafts so was interesting to see their stats vs 125.

120X users or past users: what's a good wedge shaft? My fitter recommended 120S in my 55/60* but I sometimes think they're too light. Any suggestions?

When I got fitted for my irons and wedges, I went 120x for the irons and S400 in the wedges. I tried the WV shafts, but was getting slightly better numbers and feel from the S400, and since the DG shafts were stock and no upcharge, that was a bonus.

I just put the 125 wedge shafts in my wedges to try out. I like the weighting of them. To early to tell whether I will keep them or not. The weather has been awful so my playing time has been short

Don't forget how the shaft "feels" and performs is entirely dependent on your swing. For me, the 105 and 1150 are very nice, but I don't seem to get along as well with the 125, which is strange because I don't mind DG S300 at all. The 120, however, is my honey.

105s are my fave out of the modus lineup, granted I haven't tested the 130s.

I'll update later, as I've only played a few rounds and a couple hundred balls or so on the range.

But initial experience was eureka!

I recently switched to 105 X after playing DG X100's for the past 7 years. I honestly wish I would have switched sooner. I would say the 105's play soft. Launch for me is mid to high but not high enough to be too high. I feel like the 105's give me more club head control.

Honestly, the best I can explain them is that they are just effortless. You should definitely hit them if you get a chance.

No that's the 850/950 haha. I play the x flex in 1150, it must match my swing/tempo better. In x it's 121 grams, but that's deceiving because the shafts raw length are shorter than others. So it really is heavier than stated. I have tried, 130x, 130x ss, 130s hs, 125x, 120TX, 105x hs in the modus. All so different! But really my fav is the 1150x out of all of them. Workable, great feel, can go hard or swing easy, great in wedges too. They are supposed to be firm tip and butt, softer mid. It's a shame too, a lot of the OEMs dropped the 1150, probably just not that popular, not a lot of hype on them like modus...much better marketing there.

No need to go weaker in flex than where I was at with 120TX and 105x HS. 105 was probably my best modus shaft. But it felt so light at times. The 130 is a tight shaft as well, I still have these shafted up in clubs as we speak, I have the 130x ss in my lob wedge and don't want to touch it, so built up another lob with the 1150x....we will see....

So I have been testing the 125 stiff in my 7 iron and the 130 stiff in my 6 iron. So far (a few session son the range) the 130 is a clear winner. The ball flight for me is lower than my black golds and DG S300's with better ball flight an tighter dispersion. Sometimes I wonder if the spin is too low, especially when on the course but I need more testing on the course before I pullthe trigger.

I'm not getting on with the 125 at all, can't time it consistently.

Numbers from my fitting which compared my S300's in 670's, black golds in MP33's and the 120 Stiff and 130 stiff in demo MP4's.

There was quite a wide range in the spin numbers (my ability) but I think the averages give a good impression. I only regret not hitting the 120 x-stiff as the flight was nice.
